  • of all Tim's amazing talents, his ability to sing and play the fiddle at the same time is astonishing.

  • Tim O'brien is a national tresure and musical genius. Any instrument he picks up he can slay! .......AND sing at the same time. I'm glad he focused on bluegrass and old timey music. He would be a master at any genre he attempted.

  • it's hard to believe all of that is coming from only one instrument. he is amazing!

someone needs to put more of his songs on here.

  • I saw him perform this at Fiddle Tunes 2008 in an unmic'd hall - I was at the back and could hear both the fiddle and vocals clear as a bell. This guy is amazing.

  • a asw tim perform this a couple of nights ago.....a fine musician indeed

  • xms 32 can do it. He's the greatest. Don't believe me, just ask him! He's a priiiiiiiiick!

  • hahaha , ol' xms32 does seem to be a bit of an expert on all things fiddle ,doesn't he ???

    anyone heard him play ??

  • Tim is such a versatile musician!

  • Tim's all over the String Nation DVD, you should see it.

  • Harmonizing with yourself using a fiddle is impossible, unless your Tim O'Brien........

  • Or Bruce Molsky...

  • There's many that can do it.

  • i think what xms means is that there are other musicians who can do it. obviously, it's a very very difficult thing to do! first of all, there are very few fiddlers, second of all there are even fewer fiddlers who can do it! tim does a wonderful job of it. there are other, lesser known fiddlers who do a wonderful job of it as well and i think that is all xms is saying

  • I truly love this song... I admire Bill Monroe,as I do the Carter family.A great job done by Tim O'brien on this song!

  • Wonderful!!!! Is this song really old?

  • This song was written by Alvin P. Carter in 1934 and originally performed by the Carter Family. Many people, including Bill Monroe, have covered it since then. I think it would be considered part of the bluegrass/traditional music cannon by now.

  • Amazing to play with such emotion while singing at the same time! Nice job as usual by Tim.
