  • would you send me the specs. on the big one that looks cool id like to build one

  • I built one years ago, put 2 car batteries in an old wooden ammo box, strapped a 1500 watt inverter on one side, a battery charger on the other, and yes it will run a small frig for 12 hrs or a TV and video games for grandkids for about 4 hours. Great back up system when the power goes out to power your laptop, some lights for a while. But "portable"? Dang thing ways over 100 lbs, takes 2 good men to haul it around unless you are Arnie!!

  • @91fatboy51 Yes, I know what you mean. My large one weighs about 70 lbs.,hard to lug around . Best way is with a 2 wheel dolly. My materials are expensive and has all the bells and whistles but I bet yours worked just as well. The end result is backup electricity when you need it the worst . Apriciate the input Jack

  • I resonded to you'r website and never heard back from you?Contact me and i will purchase one from you...

  • Thanks Wobbly !!!

  • This is a genius product full stop. Clever and useful!!!!

A bigger one would allow small houses/apartments etc to go off grid most of the time!

    Well done MathisJack1!

    Regards

    Wobbly™

  • That looks real sweet there buddy. Great craftsmanship.

  • Thanx Matt !

  • I like what you've done here.

  • A job well done and a good guide to follow. Congratulations. I'm currently doing similar one, small model.

  • I know i ask a lot of questions but my project is almost finished BUT,deep cycle batteries are really expensive in Greece and i was thinking about Pb batteries..Will they do the trick? And how many Ah?? Thanks in advance..

  • Thank you very much !

  • Really impressive look u have there, one of the best looking units I've ever seen. Ur attention to detail is very impressive.

  • @mathisjack1 The Lead acid deep cycle batteries are designed to be discharged down to 50% if you discharge more than that you will reduce the life of the batter the car battery that are not deep cycle are designed only for 10% discharge rate.

There are Lithium batteries that can be discharged down to 80% also the old Ni-Cd can be fully discharged with no problem.

But if you intend to use this boxes only few times a year or less like an UPS then you do not care about battery life so no problem.

  • I'm building my first battery gene and doing a little research here. Mine is being built from the ground up for solar. I love your housings. The metal, the built in lights. You build 'em yourself? I don't thing min will look that good!

  • Impressive.

  • Are you going to make a video of how you made it or a video of the internal's??????

  • Is it for sale? I would like one to have here in the garage. Visited the site but didn't see any pricing or shopping ability.

  • i'm thinking of making something like this with some more stuff installed.I have 2 questions:1.I must use deep cycle batteries?? 2.Because i'm thinking using more than 1 battery parallel connection is better or in a row?

  • good job!

  • Nice workmanship on your projects, plus a good idea to.

  • Nice job! I'm also a big fan of the aluminum diamond plate. I've used it on several projects.

  • The battery charger works off an AC power outlet in your home, so if the power goes out the charger won't work. Two ways to keep it going while the power is out would to charge the battery with your vehicle or charge it with a solar panel. Of course you could always keep extra batteries on hand. Thanks for your interest !

  • @mathisjack1 What happens if you plug the charger on the inverter? can it work?

  • Ok so this is gonna sound dumb but I was wondering if the battery charger runs off of the power from the battery or if you would need an alternate source to charge it? Great video!

  • Really nice units, and I love the portability of the units. How much do they weigh and what was the prices for each unit? I love these units already. I did visit the link you provided but had to leave an email message. Thanks for sharing

  • great idea and love the craftsmanship on those! Ever thought about building/selling those?

  • cool i need one of those!!

  • I must assume you made these, absolutely excellent work. Very impressive as well as envious. I could never do something like that

    Keep up the great work!!

  • Great vid

  • Major components are an inverter [ at least 2000 watts ] and a deep cycle marine battery , just like a car battery. And yes , you can charge the battery with your bedini motor . I like the idea of a solor panel too , free green power !

  • I was wondering how to build one.Great job by the way,and could i use my bedini motor to charge this?

  • If the power is out , you can use a solar panel or keep extra batteries on hand. Thanks for your interest ! Jack Mathis

  • How are you keeping this charged when in use? Thanks

  • Do you build these units or is there a source you could share? Superb, well-organized syatem...

  • I really should get one of these for my pet snake for when I loose power since he is dependant on heat that is provided through electricity when I loose power no more heat.

  • hey man you gave me an idea, thanks a lot! :)

  • Comment removed

  • should add a cheapo solar panel to take the edge off sitting..

  • Got one !

  • that is cool i am working on something like that

  • How much amps does the small one have?

  • It uses a lawn mower battery. The biggest one I could find is 425ca .

  • Thank you for your response!

How much is the small one? I think I might get it.

  • Also, I don't see a vent on there. Doesn't the battery get real hot?

  • The vent is under the inverter and no , the battery doesn't get hot at all. $295 less battery.

  • Thank you for answering my questions. I am going to be at a friend's cabin for a few weeks this summer, and I'd like to take one of these along, that's why I'm asking about it.

I wouldn't use it for cold cranking anything. I'd only use it to power a laptop, cellphone, maybe a fan (not sure about the last one). How many amp hours could I squeeze out of it with that type of use? Sorry about all the questions. I've never used one of these before. :)

  • And that's a great price, by the way. :)

  • I really like this unit because it's small and it's self-contained. I would prefer not to have to do too much fiddlin' around with wires and stuff.

  • One draw back is that it runs off a lawnmower battery and their not very dependable. however the one in the picture has lasted almost two years. The big one holds a marine deep cycle battery and holds a charge alot longer. Just something you should know. Their $495

  • I need one of those for camping!

  • 700 amp hour is that right or 700 cold cranking amp courious thanks

    great job

  • Same thing I was thinking, but since he said they're deep cycle batteries, maby he is running 2-3 in parallel (judging by the size of the box) and came up with 700 ah. That sounds about right if he is running those high draw devices for 12 hours off batteries. I would like to have one of these set up with a solar panel.

  • Hi Pimp My unit runs off one battery . It's 910ca and 700cca deep cycle battery. it ran a TV , dvd player and a lamp for 12 hrs.

  • @mathisjack1

Wow that is one powerful battery. Those AGM batteries are great.

  • I could use it for the trade shows!!

  • Not bad...you should make some adjustments and market it...
