  • eric, you're music... ciao

  • great song ending to the van movie

  • This is one of Claptons songs that has given me some comfort and consolation after the tragic death of my daughter in Mars 2011. Music has that power, and Clapton has that magic tune, aiming straight to a heart. /Maria

  • Le plus bel album de Clapton

  • Real touching voice... am liking it

  • boasting the nike T, if you're good enough it doesnt matter does it. Superstar.

  • loved this tour

  • That is Clapton. Nothing more to say.

  • Eric still going strong - this planets planets best musician

  • owns every guitar He picks up!

  • best song i have ever heard

  • Eric Clapton has never made a song that I didn't like....one of my all time favorite artists

  • When we wake up to the truth of life, inspired music will be released again and this period of awful, worthless music that we are in will pass away. Go to TruthContest (dot) com and read The Present to learn the truth.

  • 8 people should just not breed!

  • clapton's glasses say i like art. go clapton! <3

  • One of d best song from Eric clapton, i believe if someone who is not in love wud surely wanna fall in love after listening to this beautiful song... :)

  • Amazing voice~Still!

  • @frky4fshn Yeah, it is still great, which is really strange considering he smoked 2-3 packs per day for almost 30 yrs.

  • almost seems like an attempt at the style of some of Roy Orbison's later work in the 70s/80s.

  • How do you like it Buddy?

  • I got a question...Which concert was this?

  • @DVW0911 - Music for Montseratt. Great DVD!!

  • Him and Jimmy the two best ever!! If anyone gets the time have a look at a friend of mine Dave Lennard i entered him on to britains got talent, it seems he was not good enough to make the judges stage, see what you think of him

  • the difference between hendrix and clapton is that though hendrix is perhaps more versatile at guitar than clapton, clapton has a lot more soul is his playing!! clapton had one of the most tragic lives i've ever seen !! but still he cam bak and wrote songs and more importantly opened the crossroads foundation!! when i heard this song my eyes closed and i felt at peace!! this is just my opinion!!

  • WHY DID THIS HAVE TO END :(

  • I'm sorry Jimi, but Eric is the best!

  • @Zikan13 sorry best ones died young thats a fact

  • @Zikan13 so i agree Eric is the best!!

  • @Zikan13 haha sorry your comparison is meaningless

  • @cordoba636 Exactly like yours

  • his fingerstyle skills are awesome

  • ERIC AND NEIL YOUNG = The best musicians

  • hahahahaha.... Nike couldn't found a better pitchman!

    Eric ROCKS!

  • Comment removed

  • @notlikethat360 nice you saw what Nike is doing there

  • Eric's songwriting is another of his many talents! This is a beautiful song he wrote. Thanks for the great post!

  • This is an original by Clapton, am I right?

  • @AvivCMusic yes

  • because of this man i stopped from going mentally insane, i fell in love with blues because of this man, i usually play and listen to bands such as Metallica, Coheed n Cambria, Megadeth and so on and so on. its fun to play metal at points but when i'm in my room in the dark by myself, and the only light i see is from my amplifier and a Blues Backing track playing loudly i just can help myself, I just get umm emotionally at times lol but anyways my point is that This IS good Music, Clapton Is God

  • Very soulful music. gotta love that.

  • love it how clapton dress so casually and just focus on the music instead of flashy clothing

  • @jazzysam1314 I wouldn't go that far. By his own admission, Clapton is a massive fashion victim. He was just really into Nike clothing during the "Pilgrim" period.

  • Pretty

  • favorite eric clapton song ever: cocaine. but this songs amazing too(:

  • He's the one and only !!! Love hem .

  • clapton looks like a professor in a university or something

    very nice song as usual

  • Are there just 2 versions of this on youtube?

  • @youtellemandre More than totaly agry !

  • This is a haunting amazing song. He shows another side that many don't see. The studio version and the Pilgrim album were over produced , when he takes those songs and breaks them down live, he makes them so much better. Eric is one of the few musicians who is always better Live than in the studio

  • <333

  • Can anyone tell me the chords for this song?

  • I bet after this video was released, Nike's sales tripled in amount

  • on which album is this song?

  • @Zimmar

    Pilgrim

  • i wonder what mic is he using to catch the sound of guitar.. any ideas?

  • @playlistadam

See the mic in front of him.....My guess that's it...nothing coming from guitar...

  • @Garret00074 You can clearly see the mic in font of his guitar!

  • very god clapton is god

  • Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

  • bare to the bone, a man with his guitar

  • Happy birthday EC...65 today. There is no one on earth can play this like you. Utterly mesmorizing.

  • What a stunning piece of music!

  • hear hear Eric's voice is mint espcially in this song big musician very talented individual

  • Comment removed

  • brilliant! this music!

  • This is so good that I come away thinking who could possibly give a more soulful, heart wrenching performance. I'm simply blown away by this legend who's career seems timeless.

  • @SterlingRe Very well stated!

  • "Broken HEarted" is one of my all-time favorite Eric Clapton songs (from ilgrim, one of my all-time favorite Clapton albums). This version is just as good as the album one (if not better).

Does anyone know what tools Steve Gadd used to program the drums on the studio version?

  • @CircleCityEric how can u say that its one of ur favorite albums? i now this is a matter of opinion but c'mon! if ur a real clato fan then pilgrim was nothing in his ling history of albums! what about his electronica album is thatur next favorite? lol

  • That's not funny, Larry!

If I just happen to like Pilgrim as much as anything else of Clapton's that I've heard, that's my personal taste. I'm not stepping on anybody for likingThe Fray, bt I pesonally don't like them very much.

  • unfortunately i use a "house" computer and from time to time i forget to log of my sites. which i guess i did this time. the comment wasn't from me personally as i have this song as one of my favorites. probably from an ass wipe that i live with that for now will go unnamed. no matter what was posted under my name i have been and always will be a huge clapton fan. anything he puts out i buy! sorry for the comment and believe me it will be handled quickly and severly.

  • Beautiful, sad & brilliant! Does anyone see & can post the cords to this version of 'Broken Heated'? It's even better than the Pilgrim version. Thank God for Eric Clapton!

  • Beautiful rendition. Love the acoustic version. Amazes me how he slaps his guitar but plays a note at the same time - incredible.

  • It's a pitty thath this video isn't complete. He tells something about the song and so on...and there's the finalization....

There's no way to runaway. Eric is really the best of all singers.

  • Electric Eric is the best Eric.

  • FUCK IT, I just listened to some electric songs by EC and I totally change my mind! KEEP PLAYING THE FRIGGIN ELECTRIC! SO MUCH SOUL YOU PUT IN IT! Just play more acoustic stuff!!!

  • I think Eric Clapton shouldn't play electric guitar, not that he's not good at it. He's very good at the electric. But when he plays with the acoustic, it's so much more passion and feeling and authenticity!

    ERIC CLAPTON FOREVER!

  • I press my fingers to the wood, to tell you of my dreaming.

  • To sing you songs from olden times and keep the lovelight gleaming.

  • beautiful vocal performance here...and the guitar is a given.

  • I always loved this song on Pilgrim.

  • martins,i think.

  • does anyone know what guitar he is playing?

  • Martin EC. I tested it some time ago, and is wonderful. Very expensive, but wonderful.

  • It´s a Martin & co.. Not sure wich model, but a D35 maybe?

  • It appears to have mahogany sides, its probably a D18

  • martic 00016ec

  • Claptons music is so special, always something you can come back to.

  • i love his music so much

  • eric clapton is the best musician of all time

  • @youtellemandre

    He's up there....

  • This song is beauteful. I fell asleep to it. Wonderful.

  • Amazing song...amazing man!

  • Nike sponsor :)

    Great singer and player

  • he is an amazing singer...

  • experience helps a lot too

  • his both "skills" are awesome... i think he was best in the 90s... his voice was the best in the Unplugged concert... also in 'my fathers eyes' (1998) and that 99' ( Eric Clapton and Friends at madison square) concert is just awesome... he wasnt a young boy but he could still play really really well (and he still does)... and he's an ''intelligent'' guitarist by then...

  • Everybody talks about his guitar playing but I think he has a great soulful voice

  • i do too. a lot of people seem to think he cant sing. but while he may not be an amazing singer, he has a very expressive voice which i think is much more important.

  • @alphadogstudio

The fact is he's not a singer from the beginning, rather an awesome guitarist… but on this song he has a honey voice !

  • @alphadogstudio I was just thinking the same… what a beautiful voice!

  • @alphadogstudio He's an amazing guitarist and a very expressive singer.

    He's both :D .

  • @alphadogstudio That's amazing... I thought at first I was the only one to notice that!!

  • Damn! The song was cut off. . .

Is this concert available on DVD?

I am pretty certain it is Royal Albert Hall (year?) with an appearance by Mark Knopfler - he joined in on an acousitc version of "Layla."

  • It's the concert for montserrat who is avaible on DVD.

  • thanks!:)

  • Yes, and Eric Clapton's performance is exceptional....check his other song on this DVD ' Same Old Blues' he makes that "Stratt" cry

  • Search for "Music for Montserrat"

  • I believe this concert was in 1997.

  • Mister WONDERHAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • need words? I don´t think so

  • god bless E.Clapton!!!!

  • Yes.. Whatever he plays(I mean either Acoustic or Electronic instrument) it fits so nicely in.He'd gone through enormous pain which I even wouldn been able to imagine. His feeling right pour nout of the heart. This song is superb.. Thanks Mr Eric clapton for your great performance.

  • This is so unexpected one.

I actually do not like "acoustic Layla" but original one.

However, this one is a different story.

Just one Martin Guitar and his voice... so nice and it rally tells the story how the heart had been broken, in some sense.

It has his heart in it.

    Simply wonderful.

  • He is such a talented soul

  • I need this on Blu-ray, stat!

  • Eric is incredible. The music too.

  • Eric is a Legend. I love his music. Nadine

  • herregud så många minnen jag har till denna skivan....tänker på min fd käraste

  • Earlier this year, I was lucky enough to get to visit the martin guitar factory in Nazarath, Pa. They had a Clapton guitar that looked very similar to the one in this vid.

  • just a guitar and a voice. so beautiful.

  • Get realplayer and use IE or Firfox and download the video then convert it to wmv using VLC player and then use some free or trial ware to extract the soundtrack from the WMV file.

  • you can download this song from this video.

  • Can Somebody Tell Me Where Can I Download This Song..??? Thx

  • buy it ? or download it via musicload or itunes ...

  • Ok Thx

  • Great video!!! Eric Clapton is legend! His music work is amazing. He looks great for a older musician! Amazing song, Thanks for posting!!

  • By any chance, anybody know which model Martin he is playing here?

  • Probably the D-28 that is mentioned in "Guitar Masterpieces" by Dick Boak, according to which he normally doesn't play dreadnoughts, but bought this on the spot because of the fantastic sound. The D-28 is shortly mentioned in an article about his signature 000-42 model.

  • When was this beautiful song written? What album is it on?

  • It's on Pilgrim back in like '98 I believe. Don't expect to hear this version of the song however.

  • Check out the duet with him and John Mayer on Larry King too - it's great.

  • pilgrim ! but this live version is better than the one on the album ! my opionion of course !

  • Clapton may not be god.. but he certainly speaks for him....

  • Like all great music it can be taken in and felt on so many different levels... powerful images...

  • Super. Finally I can manage on my guitar!

    Thanks to this video.

See also the ones with John Mayer. Sublime!

  • What DVD is this?

  • This is from the DVD Music for Montserrat, 1997.

  • thanks

  • I had not heard this before. Excellent.

  • LOVE WHEN CLAPTON GOES ACOUSTIC

  • Agreed

  • love it !

  • Doesn't get better than this. There is a reason "Clapton is God"

  • Love this song and EC looks so hot in this concert.

  • Beautiful

  • is there anyway to get this performance or one like this on my ipod? I dont really like the pilgrim verson theres too much "gook" in it

  • Guitarmann199 I agree w/ you 100% It's such a haunting song. The acoustic version is cleaner. I bought this concert at Fry's Electronics. Phil collins opened & went on to play drums for everyone else's sets. Mark Knopler did a solo & then teamed w/ Sting for Money For Nothing. Sting did new arrangements of Police classics. Elton John was great. McCartney did a couple & then they ended w/ everyone [Jimmy Buffet,Knopler, Clapton, Sting, Collins,Arrow, Carl Perkins] singing Hey Jude. AWESOME

  • All you need is an iPhone, then just hit this and other non-commercially available videos right off YouTube whever you want. Make sure you have a nice set of earphones ...

  • what if u dont have an itouch or iphone

  • what beautiful lyrics, I feel him, I think its a song about music, and people who play it to stop themselves going mad. Pure Blues

  • Anybody will play like he does ! I'm a big fan of Clapton, he's my GOD, and I also play his songs, but his GREASTNESS palying is just out of this world...

  • i have this dvd of this performance, incredible show

  • true that

  • there's god..and then there's eric clapton.

  • oh my holy god

    what a good song

    unbelievable

    so much feeling

  • I like this song so much more without John Mayer..... Just Clapton, Just Slowhand. That's the way it was meant to be, and that's the way it should be.

  • He just makes everything look so damn easy! Legend.

  • You can play Eric Clapton's songs, but you can't play em LIKE Eric Clapton.

  • Genioo !!!!!!

la mejor guitarra acustica del mundo

    que maestro ...

    Rodriguezstereo

  • It is this music that is a living testament to Eric living up to his Blues heroes. He has really achieved the right to say he wrote his own Blues rather than just copy. His music is a true expression of his feelings. To me, that is as Bluesy as it can get...

  • You nail the point. This song is so hard to play and sing. He ist just god. No doubt about. Eric I'll see you in Berlin August 15th.

  • I think that he wonders in his own mind if he measures up to people like Muddy Waters and Robert Johnson. But in his own way, from his own pursuit of trying to measure up as an original Bluesman; Eric has really created a new path in Blues. I mean, there is nobody else quite like him. Years form now, I think he will be hailed as one of the best Rock artists ever. He has survived and endured through four decades of music.

  • i don't play guitar, but Eric can make the most difficult songs seem just so easy to perform. Only GOD can play everything this well and get better as he ages.

  • just can't stop listen to

  • the best NO.1 IS CLAPTON

  • Wonderful to listen to!. Mr. Clapton, could you do an acoustic "Raw" CD?. these songs you do in just acoustic ad so much depth to the song. Thanks for the Music!.

  • We call that acoustic "raw" CD "Clapton Unplugged."

  • If people cant appreciate an artist on this kind of performance theres something wrong with them.
