This song which I sang to all my four kids when they were babies and now I'm still sining it to my two lovely granddaughters . The song never fails to soothe all of them to sleep. I would encourage all parents to make this song their child favorite lullaby,
Thanks Barry. Wow what a treat!! By far Little one is my favourite of all Russ Hamilton's song Listened to it as a small boy in Singapore over Rediffusion. Grew up with it. Sang to my little girl when she was a baby Now she is a 34 year old college teacher with 2 kids!! I am a 63 year old retiree, bedridden with illness and all Russ Hamilton songs give me immense joy and fond memories. There is a special quality in his voice that is unique .
Russ was a dear friend,he helped my group understand the in's and out's of the music business,I was planning to have a surprise visit with him and actually go on stage with him in November of 2008,I didn't realize how ill he really was,his nephew,Rob called me and told me the bad news,in October of 2008,my dear friend and mentor had passed. He actually wrote this song for his little niece, and said it was his favorite song.RIP my friend.Sincerely,The Original Chevelles.
I was able to know russ very well for 14 years of my life and spent some of the most memerable days with him and family, I'm so happy people are able to still listen to his wounderful music and even though he is no longer with my nan and the rest of his family he will never be forgotten :') <3
my wife was knitting furiously and i was making and furnishing a rocking cradle for our expected first.Russ was always on our radiogram, yes radiogram, it was a ruddy long time ago terry
thank you so much for this, mum used to sing this to me when i was small as i then sang to my children.lost mum 30years ago and how this brought a tear to my eye when i heard this.Thank you so much, means so much to me.
I like this one. Never heard it before although I do remember "We Will Make Love" as my mum and dad had their copy on a 78rpm shellac. As far as I know, my dad still has the disc. Thanks for posting, barryg.
I have that song also, my favourite song by Russ is "Rainbow" I received a communication from Russ's Niece, and she told me he had written the song for her when she was little, Russ passed away recently, from what I heard he was a well thought of guy.
That's my favourite Russ Hamilton song too, barry! Russ had a lovely soft manner when he sang, I think, and it shows on "Little One", the song that I'm listening to right now. I wish I had his songs on cassette or cd, I'd be listening to them to lull myself off to sleep. I'm glad to know that he was well thought-of but it's a shame he was cheated out of all his earnings and his gold disc. That's what I read, anyway. And listening to "Rainbow" takes me right back to the 1950s.....
Hello Annie, I associate with you in declaring that all the songs by Russ Hamilton especially they lyrics have always gripped me from the first time when I heard it being sung by Russ in the 50's and still does. All his songs are so soft and touching and it brings me back into time past when I was just a teenager and brought volumes of memories past both the so very sweet and perhaps with some bitterness that we had to leave it all behind.
Hi milee, I was only a toddler in the 50s but I do remember Russ's "We Will Make Love"/"Rainbow" with great affection. Sadly, Russ is no longer with us and, as I said in a previous comment, it was a shame he was cheated out of his earnings and gold disc. From all the songs I've head of his, he sounds like he was a really nice, gentle guy who loved kids.
i would have thought that Mothercare would have used this brilliant song by now in one of their promotions.russ hamilton had some fantastic songs that have stood the test of time.wedding ring is my personal favourite but they were all fantastic.
Well, you never know.................many of todays commercials are using old tracks to advertise and sell various wares so maybe, just maybe, Mothercare (or similar company) might use this track. My favourte songs of his are "We Will Make Love" and "Rainbow, both of which are on an old 10" 78rpm shellac, at my dad's house. I hope he doesn't get rid of it cos I've been wanting that one for years.
