The thing that I fail to understand is why they're releasing games like this with the old, snes / amiga style graphics on a hand held console that is capable of pretty decent 3d. And almost photo-realistic graphics.

Well, maybe cause theyre too lazy to redo a complete new game and just want quick sales but. These games were fun back then, being retro, but newer games need newer graphics... This looks unplayable simply because of the lack of graphics. :S wtf are nintendo on!?

No, not here. The characters that are unlockable here are: Sheena from Hard Corps, Lucia from Shattered Soldier, the Probetector From the European-censored Contras, and Jumbo (whom I thought was supposed to be Bill Rizer) from Contra III.

what? i have contra and some of the places for weapons and guys are off. like you don't get the spread shot until the first weapons box. where he got the spread shot is where i get the fire but it's also going the other way. can you turn of the music too?

That's because this is a mere demonstration of the game. The video you see here is at beta level and far from being finished at the time. The game we purchased is of course the final version of the game. And, that's all.

i got this game , the game is hard as hell but you get used to it a couple days later. I am now at the last boss of the game in normal and i cant beat him, even if get 6 lives i still lose all of my live at the first act of the fight.This game is really worth the money for every action fan like me

Colo118, for Viper, I found the Spread Shot to be the most effective weapon. When he moves from ceiling to floor you can nip him with part of the spread shot (obviously better powered up).

And for the ressurected Alien Queen , I use the Double (Poewerd up) Machine Gun. Your job is to shoot out the Arms of the final Boss before they catch you.

(Cont.) Try to stay in the center of the screen before the hands move so you know which way to move. If the arms start low then swoop up, there will be a ledge you can cling onto to avoid both arms... so get extra shots while you can. When you blow up the arms of the boss, there will be a ledge you can grapple onto, and that will be your chance to attack! The Double Machine Gun will CREAM the ressurected Queen.

It took me 2-3 days to beat this game... but man was I ever gettin' my ass KICKED!

You are indeed welcome. As a veteran of the Action Genre Catergory (Contra included), I know just how OUT OF CONTROL things can get. But, I'm a little curious of this 'glitch'... how do you apply it? And why is it that Konami has benn getting more glitchy with their games, if you know the reason for that?

for the 99 glitch, you need to have zero live left and fight the middle boss of the first stage(that tramway that shoot you from the air).You need to kill him at the same time he fire at you and you must be hit to die. Then your live should be at 99 .I didnt test it, ive only discover this on the web this week And i think why most of the konami games are glitchy it because the games is so rushed at the final stage like most of the game today. Big example is Killzone for the Ps2.

Once you complete the game, you unlock Contra 1 AND 2, and plus the excellent music is in this game.

Beaten Easy and Normal.

And I think no powerup = impossible to shut the damn doors on Stage 6 boss' head. You need the machinegun. Or very strong fingers.

I don't know about that papalolita, I can close the doors to that boss with the plain "Pea" shooter with no problem. In fact, he's an incredibly easy boss with ANY weapon except for Lv1 Fireshot. And yeah, I also beaten the game on Easy and Normal.

I have completed 36/40 in Challenge Mode.

And yes, Hard is next.

cbrnate, in order to get Contra and Super C in the Classic Contra option, you have to beat conditions in Challenge Mode. Not only can you unlock these 2 games, but you can unlock secret characters; ranging from Lucia of Shattered Soldier, to Sheena of Hard Corps, to the Probetector of the censored European Contra, to The Protagonist from Contra III!!

By the way, when you get to the Bosses of stages 8 and 9, be sure to re-introduce yourself to them... "they've" been waiting for you... waiting for a long time to see you again... And you do have some catching up to with them...

But, one good thing about Contra games, is that when you play a new Contra, you know somewhat to expect, but it always feel new. I seen homage to the classic Konami game SE (Sound Effects), and the Skeleton boss from Contra III. All I have to say is.... Good Luck... we will need it!

It probably would be diffucult for anyone... but easy gives most contra fans a chance to win. I have the game and played it so far on normal and easy. I beaten easy with absolutely no problem... but normal is pretty hard... Stage 7 anyone? And Hard? That's plain suicide... I've played Contra for 17 years... and it's been a LONG TIME since i got my ass kicked like that since Shattered Soldier.

gonepishing, the reason for this is simple: the last two levels are not available in easy mode. Contra III also did this back in the day of the SNES. Classic Konami games usually make you play the Hard setting to get the most out of their games. Level 1 on Hard in the DS version has the original Level 1 theme of Contra remade when you play it on Hard... although I defeated this game on Normal, Hard however should be a challenge in itself (Hard Corps...Man...)
