My second favourite scene in the movie, the first being the Winkies dream scene. I love the power of this scene though. Rebekah del Rio is brilliant, she is miming her own performance, but that is very hard to pull off well and convincingly. David Lynch is a genius of cinema.
This is one of my favorite scenes of any movie. Very artistic and emotional. I'm assuming David Lynch is a big Roy Orbison fan, being that this is (to my knowledge) his 2nd movie to feature an entire Orbison song in a scene.
This is the idea. Note that he involves in some smoke in the same way that when Diane was suicidal. ie, in her mind, both go to hell - at least what she believes.
I'm convinced this is the greatest film ever made. Not only because it's a Hollywood epic, a romance, a noir, erotic thriller, a fantasy but because Lynch invents a cinematic language that is unique and because moreso than any other living director he goes beyond the known cinematic conventions to create something that's purely cinematic and at the same time un-cinematic at the same time.
Thank you for that comment. I also believe that Mulholland Drive is one of the most unique and affecting movies of all time. Every repeated viewing yields a new aspect to this dark masterpiece. Im certain that in time it will be appreciated as the sublime work of art that it is. Its reputation grows with every passing year..
I love this scene. It really puts you in a state. You get that feeling when your in a hazy deserted metropolis going down some mysterious path. And the song is so beautiful it nearly brought me to tears.
i never cried with a movie ,seriously ,bambi ? yeah its heartbraking when they stopped drawing the deer ...but this ....when i first saw this i almost cried and i didn't know why ...lynch is a master of film ,emotional ,intense, dark ,mysterious etc...
The genius of Lynch is that while I can't understand much of his work, I can't ignore it either. I WANT to understand/
