Dude! you got the juice. The magic. Don't acknowledge the haters. Thanks for putting it out there. You're already going far. Way far. You make me happy.
I don't know what people are talking about with this whole 'lisp' thing. You have a wonderful voice and did an excellent version of one of my favorite Beatles song.
Alright... for those of you talking about the lisp thing:
If it's there then it's there. If not, then it's not. I don't really care. That's how I sound and that's what makes me... well... me. I'm not trying to sound like anyone/anything else. If i did, i'd be playing guitar and singing R&B or pop. Lisp or not, it's part of my sound and who I am. I'm not about to change that cause of anyone's preference. No one is forced to watch these. It's always been about being an individual.
@ukuleleoversoul I have nothing against it. Some people have lisps some don't. A lisp doesn't always show. You're right, it's part of who you are and who you are is okay with us.
it's not really you folks, it's the keyboard "producers" that only thinks about so-called "standards" when it comes to criticism that they completely ignore the artistic individuality. That's like telling Van Gogh that his paintings would be awesome if they weren't so squiggly. They're at the same ranks as backseat gamers. hahaha
seriously...work on eliminating the lisp..the playin is smooth...singin is good...just the lisp. if you wanna go big time then work on your weak points.
Rather than praise him in all that he does give his a little constructive critizism so he can get better.
@jhummus Are you sure it's not your own computer speakers? What's your audio setup? I don't have mine plugged into the computer right now, but I hear absolutely no lisp.
/has a BM in vocal performance, so knows something about carrying a tune in a bucket.
its not the computer speakers. earphones in or out i hear it.. on a different computer i hear it. it has nothing to do with carrying a tune or his vocal abilities. like i said his playing is superb. he sings well and stays in key great. its his enunciation that could use help. watch closely how he enunciates his words. you can even see it...no joke!
y not acknowledge it? your choice of career opens you to both positive and negative feedback. i dont think i bashed on you or anything. the only reason i bring up the lisp is that "sometimes" it distracts from the content played. if you embrace it as a part of your individuality then hey...thats cool.end of discussion. keep up the jammin and showing mainlanders that hawaiis ukulele is a legitimate instrument.
whether its a lisp or not..it is some type of speech impediment. he has difficulty in pronouncing the (s) at the end of certain words. but ..if he embraces it as a part of his individuality then theres no discussion to continue. i only mention it as a reason for him to get better at what he does. hes very talented. im an avid player myself so I do comment from a musically inclined background. so any "lisp" topic reguarding aldrine is done/pau/squashed..and everyone else should follow suit..
Like I said, go to his live stream, there is no lisp, there is no speech impediment, however much you want there to be one, there isn't. You're going against a fact, and it's not squashed until you realize that it's not there, again, go to one of his shows, go to his live stream when he does stream and you'll be sadly mistaken.
its one thing if im the only one who notices but there are others who have mentioned it also. its in every U.U vid ive watched whether he's singin or not. on different computers. so its no mistake.. .so i say again...it aint no biggie...he(aldrine) doesnt care about it...so let it go bro. fyi i have watched his live streams on a few occasions and it made no difference..
Ask anyone who's talked to me in person. ANYONE. It's the camera and the mic. Lisp = "S - th" Especially being a native tagalog speaker, I say my S just fine.
@jhummus dude, you know the camera does that to peoples voices, right? How the hell do you not know that? go watch other home made youtube videos. The guy doesn't have a lisp. like there's no "discussion" to be had...like you're wrong. You're wrong. wrong wrong wrong.
@TheAinokeatoo I've seen plenty videos. You can even go watch pretty much any of the Uke Got Mail vids and hear it. I'm sorry if you can't, but it's there.
Aldrine, please don't mind if I say something about this, too.
there is a lisp, but it's not Aldrine's fault, it's the microphone. If you're looking for perfect sound, go and buy his CDs (something you should definitely do), but leave Youtube. this is a place where no one should care too much for the technical quality of a record. it's a place for having fun broadcasting what you like and watching what you like.
It's calm. I told him to play this on the live show and now he is. Hence the excitement. Stop thinking about my boner. I don't want you to lose your confidence...
