  • I love!!!

  • Einmalig ! magnifique !

  • Magic, thank you

  • My belated thanks to ATEMPORAL for sending me the Jean Sablon text of 'J'attendrai'. As a partially deaf person it is often very, very difficult to make out words when sung. The email from ATEMPORAL made my day.

  • 1930s French elegance and smoothness expressed so well.

What a shame all this would soon be wrecked by a little madman with a funny haircut and a silly moustache. DAMN THAT BASTARD !

  • @23565120 : HEY what you got against Frank Zappa? Groucho? David Crosby?

  • @yankeeG Ha Ha Ha! very good, I never realised they jointly

    share the guilt :-)

  • magic really

  • Magic.

  • @carlwen1938 i would like to find J Sablon's lyric also. here's my lame attempt: Reviens vite, les jours sont froids Et son limits les nuits sans etoils ?Quand …
  • why?

  • Does anyone know the words of the chorus that Sablon sings to J'attendrai ? They are not the same as Rina Ketty sings (Les fleurs palissent.......etc.) . A small correction to the lyrics printed here "Le temps passe et court......". Here's hoping !! CARLUDO

  • This song, more than any other is about the time of 1939 when people in Europe were being torn apart by war, its of my parent's time when they did not know when, or if, they would ever see each other again.

    Thank you for posting this.

  • Crosby, Sablon, and Russ Columbo; they sounded a lot alike. What a show they must be doing together in the Beyond, along with Rudy Valley, Carlos Gardel, and M. Fogg as special guests for a set. Wow!

  • SUMAMENTE ROMANTICO Y EXQUISITO......COMO ROMANTICA Y EXQUISITA Y GLAMOUROSA FUE CANTANDO ESTA MISMA CANCION JOSEPHINE BAKER........BEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOO

  • I have never heard this song or this singer before. Wow! I'll call him French Sinatra, although he really has his own sound. Love it!

  • Sumamente romantico!!!

    y Exquisitamente Expresivo

    Mil gracias!!! *RReady555*

    por traer su recuerdo

    a nuestra memoria!!!

    Trés Trés Douce!!!

    le Grand JEAN SABLON :-))

  • I want this on my ipod!

  • What a great voice and it compliments a great song. It is so evocative of the late 1930s

  • Fine Song!

    Thanks for Posting!

  • One of those iconic, nostalgic ballads of the 2nd world war that will always live on in history. A beautiful song touchingly sung.

  • Jean Sablon really is my favorite singer now and I discovered that rich voice because you posted this. Now I'm buying all kinds of CDs on Amazon because I can't get enough of that voice!!!

  • GOD THAT IS BEAUTIFUL

  • frenetikus

  • Lucienne Delyle ,the Belgian singer makes a nice job of this too.

  • MERCITHANKYOUDANKECHOUKRAN...

  • Thanks for the lyrics!

  • I think Rina Ketty's version is the best.

  • I don't care about politics, I'm just talking about artists

  • fabulous

  • Did Eva Busch ever record this song? I thought I saw her video of it once on YT, but maybe it was of some other lady.

  • Will take you up on the offer of a slow dance only if you are a man.!!

    How I love this song!!!

  • A true gem.....nostalgia for a time and place long gone....how about a slow dance?

  • Tino was NOT French, nor Italian...he was CORSE....:)

  • Thanks for that added information--I appreciate it!

    -RR

  • And Tino was a Nazi sympathizer and collaborator -- though he did have a beautiful voice

  • @neronnenn

Tino is French. Corsica is a region of France, not a country. Maybe one day, Corsica will be independent but for the moment it is not. So...

  • @DisneyRomain I didn't know that Corse belongs to France, tks for the information and all my best for your sense of humour and your connaissence de l'Histoire et des Civilisations Humaines :::)))

  • @neronnenn

are you joking ? Corsica is part of France .

  • @neronnenn La Corse est un département français...;)

  • @neronnenn -- Of course.

  • Jean Sablon represents France of prewar. Delicate, good voice, beautiful words. What else is needed? He found refuge in Buenos aires during the war and I met him in the local zoo, both admiring swans. Such good memories!

  • Thanks, Oscar--you've lived a rich life!

    Kind regards,

    -RR

  • @schwartzoscar Thank you for your comments my friend

  • @schwartzoscar lucky you. Viva Argentina.

  • @schwartzoscar

    Cordialement.

  • thank you for posting this beautiful song. I have searched for it for years never knowing its title or singer--beautiful

  • You're entirely welcome--few songs have the haunting power of this one...

    Regards,

    -RR

  • merci pour ton response

  • My pleasure! Don't get to spend as much time YouTubing as I'd like to.

    A bientot,

    -RR

  • That is my exact point - to be alive and to have ears is to love Jean Sablon's voice, n'est-ce que pas?

  • what do you mean, we all are alive and have ears and are listening...

  • of course men like his singing - if they have ears and they are alive that is.

  • Very masculine! Even man likes his singing

  • Thanks--he had a great baritone range and a personal magnetism which appealed to both sexes.

  • Chanson d'amour pour toujours

  • C'est vrai! Merci, mon ami...

    -RR

  • Danke! ;)

  • sounds a lot like bing.

  • Some similarity in timbre, yes--Russ Columbo was a strong influence on both of them.

  • you've got to be kidding...bing was reccording at least three years before russ, while the latter was violinist for gus arnheim

  • A true crooner! Lovely

  • The language barrier is no obstacle at all with Jean's power to connect emotionally with his listeners...thanks!

    -RR

  • one more thing he did achieve some kind of fame here in the 40's there is a pic of him signing an autograph for none other than frank sinatra and his daughter / which is part of the origina LP with this cover no wonder he was known as "the voice "

  • where the hell did u get this ?? SHIT thanks the best surprise ever in you tube btw check my comment on this song with the trio lescano(tornerai) the italian version i said jean sablon s was the best ever thanks again anything else by sablon?

  • Thanks--great story about Sinatra! I'll look for more Sablon '78's when I'm next in Montreal, but they're a challenge to find.

    Regards,

    -RR

  • Heavenly!

  • lovely voice.

  • He does--shame he was never more popular in America.
