i found out that my psp was running on 1.50 kernel, changed that and the updater ran smoothly. i was running 3.52 m33 now it's 5.50 gen-b

hold R when turning on the psp and go to configuration, and scroll down to UMD mode and change it to M33 driver -NO UMD-, and you should be fine then.

Nice vid, its fast and easy, but for some reason when i'm in the unpacking portion of the process, when it gets to the verify 401.pbp, it says incorrect file and my psp gets bricked. Luckly i can easily unbrick it back to 3.71m33 but i'd really like to get this newer CFW. Anyone have any suggestions?

hmmm, are you sure you are typing everything correctly before starting your Update? and make sure your psp is in the charger because it needs 78% before starting the update.
