I think that the first Matrix and Equilibrium are amazing for story and fight quality. The other matrixes (spelling?) story lines defeated the purpose of the first one and the overused cgi in fights (especially in the third) made them too much like video games.
i respect both of these movies for what they brought to the table. the matrix brought some revolutionary cinematography to the table with bullet time, and the idea was behind the story made you think about the world you live in. equilibrium took a less sci-fi approach and stayed more grounded in reality. felt more human. the action scenes in the matrix were unreal, but they were fighting in a computer program. equil. had the better fights IMO
the matrix revloutiunize the slow mo/freeze and 360-turn effects that many movies still apply today. however, equilibrium somehow got better choreographed scenes, and the movie is underrated. both are unrealistic but superbly entertaining! awesome!

That what i like about Matrix. The "cyberpunk"-thing is just a metaphore. The Matrix is actually our world with all the robot-like repetitive actions from our lifes. Morpheus said "Free your mind and the body will follow". That thing could be such a great inspiration to all of us. It could change our life styles in a better way. Imagine what we'd like to do and then imagine that we could actually do it. That's the point.
The movie just gives an example: all the jumping, the flying(which i consider very gay), the fighting, etc. yes, the matrix is pretty complex, but that's what i like about it.
Equilibrium is complex too. I don't like the actors because they don't act properly. They should not feel nothing at all(some of them), but at some points they look angry, frustrated, worried, etc.
An example: that black guy, when is dragged out of the room looks very angry. It's not the actors' fault, but the one who decided the movie's theme, which is too hard for the actors. But i liked what they wanted to do and almost did.

2) About the video, it has potential. I've wanted to do my own version of this for years now. Try and edit scenes together that have similar camera angles or action styles 9like how u mixed the two lobby shooting sprees). Also, don't show two different cuts of one movie in a row, switch between movies more, and don't pair Evanescence with either of those movies.

Perhaps it wasn't copied, perhaps it was a total accident that they're extremely similar in many ways, even camera techniques. The Matrix is a much better film in many ways, that's what matters to me. I was hit with the message of The Matrix, the other movie had a laughably blatant pretentious message that sucked along with the rest of the movie.
both are good movies, but Equilibrium is better. The messege is deeper, and the acting better.
