  • Thanks for posting this great classic. The sheet music for the original piano part (which was played by Mike d'Abo) on Rod Stewart's version of "Handbags and Gladrags" can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.

  • Agree with Cattails. Others poured out the tears all over this song, like a reverse laugh track. Unnecessary, and false. The lyrics either move you, or they don't. In this case, they probably do.

  • I like his voice and interpretation--Farlowe's version is melodramatic and keeps me from focusing on the lyrics

  • i dunno which is better, this version or the stereophonics! i like both!

  • @GodRock1 have you seen the chris farlowe version , personally i likethat the best!

  • Can someone tell me the difference between this version by d'Abo and others on Youtube credited to d'Abo one (which came first, history, etc...):

  • @RockyG1978 guess you havent read biog above about song

  • @RockyG1978 The full history is on Wikipedia. It won't let me post the link here but just enter "Handbags and Gladrags."

  • @RockyG1978 this is the original released d`Abo recording of the song. He has re-recorded the song a few times which are on youtube , a couple of which are wrongly credited to Manfred Mann but they never recorded a version. He also also recorded a cod-reggae version which is best forgotten.

  • great song

  • Even kelly Jones' version wasn't that bad!! LOL,

  • i still haven't heard a bad version of this song :)
