So what happens when you miss that wrist grab due to adrenaline, fear and lack of training? You think he'll be like, "kay nice try, but seriously give me your money" No he'll probably be pissed and end up shooting you. So always analyze the situation before acting. If the aggressor doesnt seem like he intends to shoot, then do as he says and you live another day. But if he seems more of the type that would shoot you and still sleep well at night, and looks like he'll shoot anyways, then do it.

@elboricua123 when you go through the krav training half of it is recognizing viable life or death situations where these extreme techniques are necessary and after i learned to do this manuever a hundred times even at the point of collapse from exhaustion you can usually get a good enough grip to control the gun but your exactly right about the attack second observe first

@bokchodmujibor The only thing I know is that Judo is mostly used for throwing your opponents on the ground and putting them in a submission. About Akido and Jujitsu I don`t know really much about it...The thing that I actually would recommend you is Wing Chun, because it`s based on finding a opening to your enemy and make that opening bigger and bigger, in other words you mostly hit the same spot making the pressure bigger, mostly you only need speed for that.

You're right on the close range part, I meant with long range close range as well. But in this video the man with the handgun is in the area where the other one can touch him, that is close combat and not close range. A handgun is at it's best when use several meters away from the goal, it's far to risky to use it in close combat.

This depends on your definition of close and long range, obviously. Compared to hand to hand, it's long range. Compared to rifle, it's short. That said, people can shoot pistols pretty dang accurately. There're a couple videos of dudes up here on dat youtube hitting targets at 230 yards with subcompact and compact Glocks.

I've tried this countless times with bb guns and not once have I gotten shot. You redirect the line of fire and move your body out of the way of the barrel. Also, if the gun has a round chambered then it will only be able to fire one bullet because you grab the slider. If it's a revolver, you grab the cylinder and it won't be able to fire any shots.

This technique should only be used by experienced person like a SEAL or CIA etc. You have to be fast using this disarm technique, thats why it's quick, clean and easy. You can't be slow or fuck up. It needs to be fast so the "mugger" won't know what hit him.

Each letter means something like "force delivered" or "impulse of wrist" or whatever... but by not telling you which letter means which thing, the equation is basically pointless, even thought it could well be correct. It's a bit like writing a telephone directory using only first names.

This is not the way Krav Maga teaches a gun disarm. This can be spotted easily by the gunman's perpheral vision. Also, Krav would encourage you to go for a knee to the groin as you disarm and to follow it up with an elbow to the face.

@Traysmoov26 Well the better way to disarm a gun is to control the barrel and push it upward and into the attacker. That way, you have more leverage, control, and can use both hands to thrust the gun down and out of the attacker's hands. Two hands or one hand, the attacker does not have enough leverage to keep the gun in his hands. If you do it how the video shows, you risk someone else around you getting shot and you can't leverage your weight against the gun.

This is very close to good gun defense, much better then what is often represented as Krav Maga...you know the silly grab the gun and punch them in the face then try and take it away. This works because they are following good combat principals: Change the field of fire, 2 hands controling the weapon, maximum leverage points...if necessary move with the attacker (no tug a war) and do not strike unless you have excellent control of the weapon. This is a sound disarm. Simple and effective.

@rotsebanotman I agree, this isn't how i was taught either. This also looks quite slow, the way we learned it, you could take the gun a lot faster. FYI, you hand can move the gun or knife away faster than your opponent can react back. I've practised a lot with stun knifes and prop guns, you might get cut with the knife or you might get burned by the shot fired from the pistol, but you have the upper hand in the end

@rotsebanotman this is another way to do it... you probably know the tehnique where you put the pistol near his leg and disarm it there... this tehnigue is faster but not really that safe because if you dont hit the person with the gun he will fight for it ... do more classes before you think this isnt the proper way... or ask your instructor.

p.s : this is a good tehnique because his alive and didnt got shot. :)

still my friend, how would you know if he "is not alert"? he may be a thug on the street, but he may also have good reflexes. you cannot know who and what he is. Also, the person in the video, put his hand on the end of the barrel, where the bullet comes out! what kind of nonsense is that?! he would blow your hand off! and also, he does not even put his hand under the gun when he gets out of the line of fire, which would (again) cause his hand to get shot. its not a good disarm.

jt takes 0.1 of a second to shoot the gun. it take 1 second to get the gun out of the line of fire. It the technique he is showing, he is doing the technique incorrectly, and he is not avoiding the line of fire too much.

sure he needs to be fast. But lets say in a case where your attacker is stronger then you. The slight movement of your torsoms will not do a thing. Even to a guy weaker than you, it may not work, because you have absolutely no strength or momentum. I learned a technique quite similar to this, but we at least learned how to make it stronger. you put his wrist to your chest, then you can actually use the strength and momentum of your body to take the gun away. he doesnt strike in end
