Apparently this song was John's idea of a funny little swipe at Frank Sinatra. Sinatra beat them to a Grammy nomination, and John was a little cheesed off. So he penned this little number. Supposedly Sinatra had a larger that average...member, which he used to refer to as his...cockerel, shall we say? Hence the pun: "Bird". What they were giggling at was John singing "and your bird can SWING" off tape. John admitted it. The combination of cock and swing was too much for John and Paul XD
