Modern country is little more than pop music sung by Southerners. Dinah Shore was a pop singer from the South (Tennessee), but would anyone in their right mind call her a country singer? Why shoud Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Sugarland and Rascal Flatts be any different? The only places you can hear "classic country" is on the internet and on satellite radio. Forgive the crotchety old man his rant. Thanks for posting a great country song.

I had forgotten how truly beautiful Wanda Jackson was. About the description: Modern country music seems to be all about attracting kids. They won't play female artists who are over 40 years of age (Mary-Chapin Carpenter, Reba, Wynonna) or males who are in their late 40s or early 50s (Vince Gill,, Alan Jackson, Clint Black). It's all about that crossover between pop & country.
