This is the sound of a 60s radical hippie commune tripping and playing all together, probably even let the kids and pets join in, in one massive super-jam. Chris Karrer suffered a mental breakdown because of the anarchic directions Amon Düül was taking, he wanted to make more serious, rehearsed music, with only the good musicians. During the two weeks of nervous breakdown he composed half of the Phallus Dei album. So now it was not one fabulous band, but TWO! Perfectly it worked out:)
I love Amon Duul II but just never got Amon Duul I. Sounds like somebody left a 12 string guitar, an amp and a Mosrite fuzz box in a room with several mental patients.
The most core and anarchic of Krautrock- More radical and authentic than Duul 2- Not everyone gets it- but that's ok- Duul 1 set their own rules and gave themselves more freedom than probably any other known band- To use the term 'band' loosely
@TheKraut74 So after the nineties there was a line drawn, that from now on we are all subhuman? In 60s the psychedelic underground was small, but vital (and for once fashionable), IN THE 90S HOWEVER, the psychedelic underground was small, but vital (and for once fashionable, but of course different from last time). Personally in a time machine I would go to 1965 and The Fugs, but still, this translates as rave of the 90s (in the feeling of the party (or LSD), this was "proto" rave.
i´ve seen them live as a child in 1969 and i´ll never forget it. this was real kraut.
even a few years later most people didn´t know the difference between kraut and deutschrock. so this is real kraut, folks. only a handful of groups really were in it. this was one of them.
Sid barrett, should have went krautrock...To much with a lyric singing background i guess..This is as repetitive as new electronic psy music...What a trip...And there playing instruments.. I still have respect for them, just need to find the right track to listen to...For the moment.
