classical music is supposed to be improvised, thats what chopin, bach, mozart did, but somewhere along the way the idea of improv got lost with classical music. i recomend watching the universal mind of bill evans, you can find on youtube

Yea, I suppose that's what they were thinking as well when writing out and eventually publishing their compositions.

That's what Mozart was thinking when he demanded of singers to perform the exact notes on the score rather than improvizing ornaments etc.
