  • I started my baby on bananas, then avocado, delicata squash, apples, sweet potatoes. he loved them all at first, then he stopped wanting to eat. Now he will eat seldom, but he seems to always go for bananas and puffed rice.

  • i started my baby with bananas and she lovesss it then i'm trying apples but she seemed to like bananas more

  • We also started with tthose (except carrots - he just is not into them now). But we follow Baby Lead Weaning approach (self-feeding), so 90% of the time no mashing, no spooning.

  • We did baby led weaning with all the foods you just mentioned...in fact every single one on your list were my daughter's favorites! And I totally agree with the cereal thing. And it's true although breast milk has far less iron than cereal and formula, it is absorbed much better by baby! I tried cereal with my daughter at 6 months but it made her extremely gassy and she didn't seem to like it anyways so we just set it aside until recently (14 months now). Great choices and suggestions!

  • @earthmamajoe Nice! Sounds like your little one knew that cereal wasn't good for her then.

  • I started my baby on red bull, 5 hour energy drink, and Gatorade. No fiber and perfect to jump start my little guy in the morning!

  • Thank you for posting this! So helpful! My daughter is 6 months tomorrow, and within the next couple weeks I plan to start her on solids. We too are planning on making our own organic foods for her first tastes! How did you talk to your pediatrician about starting Griffin? Was he/she receptive to skipping the cereals?

  • @Redishnes My doctor was totally cool with it. She's pretty low-key and doesn't micro-manage. I would say if you do squashes and then sweet potatoes, you're good on starches.

  • @Redishnes Absolutely. My pediatrician is pretty relaxed and low-key though. To this day, Griff still doesn't do a ton of grains. He doesn't have his molars yet so biologically he's not meant to. Don't get me wrong, he enjoys oatmeal and brown rice now and again but mainly it's fruits, veggies and dairy.

  • very helpful! i star my baby at 4 month cause she is getting crazy around us when she sees foood.. i start with butternut squash , carrots, bananas, apples and today i introduce her a peach and she loved it!

  • @VANNYLO1107 Awesome to hear! That's great that your little girl is such a "foodie" already :). XO.

  • You should write a baby food book! :)

  • Wonderful video!! My baby just turned 27 weeks and i have so far introduced carrot, apple and pear, broccoli and cauliflower (this got a 0/10). I use my Beaba baby cook to make all her meals. I haven't tried Avocado yet - i was addicted to it while i was pregnant and cant bare it now! I too am only giving my baby organic fresh fruit and veg. No baby rice in my house. I have been told however to introduce finger foods opposed to blended now - like steamed carrot sticks, very soft pasta etc. :)

  • @Gucci2401 Nice job mama! So funny about avocado... our aversions and cravings are wild :). Now that Griffin is 9 months, I have been giving him some brown rice and potato but also with a nice mix of fruits, veggies, etc. He's not really into the meat yet so I just take it slow. I've mixed in a little tahini into his banana/avocado mash and he eats it. So fun! Take good care. XO.

  • @MamaNaturalBlog What is tahini?

  • I agree with some of the ladies down below...It would be nice to see how ou prepare and mix some of those - I lack imagination =( Great vid!

  • @OneSunnyDayinMarch2 Stay tuned! I'll be demonstrating how to prepare some of these dishes sometime next week.

  • I am not sure I agree with the no cereal thought. I agree yes not the processed foods but you can make home made rice cereal and breast milk can be added. Iron is very improtant when transitioning to foods as nursing will become less over time. Iron help babies have a healthy hunger reflex and gives them an appitite. I would be carful not to start telling moms not to give their children foods based on your belife as different babies do require different diets and foods for different needs

  • @fuzzypeach5 Thank you for sharing your perspective. Everything I share in my videos is my personal point of view, and not a prescription. Mamas can take what they like and leave the rest :)

  • Great video!!

  • So how about homemade oatmeal and rice cereal, are those not recommended?

  • @hazeldream1984 Those are wonderful, nourishing foods. I'm going to wait until Griffin's a year old to introduce these foods, as they are more complex carbohydrates and harder for little systems to break down. If you soak your grains it can help. Of course, every baby is different, and you need to trust your mama's intuition.

  • Awesome job, MN. I would love to see a video on how you actual prepare and create the final product to feel Griffen. I started Peyton & Lee on the boxed cereal that Pedi. seem to always mention (even as early as 4 months with Peyton), but I learned very quickly that Peyton was not tolerating it at all. And then at 11 months allergy testing was preformed on Peyton & she had a host of allergy triggers which was found in so many processed bbfoods, hence switching to making our own:)

  • @Shannindhall Stay tuned for some babyfood making videos. Sounds like your mama's intuition knew best with your baby Peyton. Homemade's the best. Hope your little ones are doing well!

  • thank you for this!

  • Love the video. We did mostly those that you recommended. When our daughter was ready for a finger food we would take very small diced avocado and roll it in wheat germ so it was easier to handle or small well cooked beans. Frozen blueberries were always a hit, especially for teething! Keep these types of videos coming!

  • @Angllbabie Ooh, I love the idea of rolling the avo in wheat germ. Were you ever worried about your baby choking on the frozen blueberries? I'm a little paranoid about choking with the baby-led weaning too.

  • @MamaNaturalBlog Nope! The great thing about the frozen blueberries is they are so small, that by the time my daughter was done holding them in her hot little hands and they got into her mouth they were just really cold mush. I'll caution that it's REALLY messy but it was a great relief for her poor gums. (and beware the blueberry diaper, lol!)

  • totally agree with you on the whole grain thing!! they tell u that so that companies profit when all ur baby needs comes straight from mother earth! awesome vid thank u!
