This was playing at all the clubs, Chi Town, Detroit, NY, and Philly. I was going from City to City having a blast. Between Silk and Abrams, those were the Days.
OuuuuWeeee!! My Old Azz tired as H*ll now! I been "JACKIN" to the last 4 Vids, I can't hang like back in tha day, we was goin' non stop til the LIGHTS CAME ON!
Classic, crackin, jackin!!!!! I was there at the begining of the UK chicago house scene in "Cinderellas Rockafellers" in Northampton, DJ Lee Clark (RIP) was the man that was way ahead of his time!!! I still have the JM Silk vinyl album this came off. Chicago House was the last stand for the American dance scene befor the british took over and set the standard for ALL others to follow, fact.
@DoubleMM70 Sorry, DoubleMM70 You forget the Britfunk of Central Line, LOTW, Second Image and the fact that the northern soul scene championed soul that the Americans had forgotten or ignored, the likes of Edwin Starr moving to the UK to because of the way the British had appreciated it. Chi Town is important to soul but don't underestimate what the British have done for it.
@DoubleMM70 Good point DoubleMM. I admit I don't know much about House as I was more into the Maze type soul and the rarer stuff that the States pushed out before house came around. (Look into Northern Soul, a music scene that started in the UK and hear the influence this music had on the house scene). So long as soulful music continues despite the commercialism of some of that rap stuff, who cares where it comes from eh? ;o)
You are right they both are classics now. I was commenting on how I felt when I first heard them. There is a Ron Hardy remix available listen to it and you'll understand why I love J.M. Silk's version so much. But both versions are a remake of Issac Hayes "I won't turn around". Clasics inspire even more classics.

I agree, but something is missing from the british scene.
I think it call Soul.
CHI-Town will always have it own sound.
DoubleMM70 2 years ago 2
Certainly, now, as it stands "dance" needs something that has been left behind???
Attitude?
Passion?
Less drugs!!!
More edge!!!

@colliourebee
I don't underestimate what the Brits have done for the scene but I embrace it.
I actually like allot of the House music that coming out europe these days.
Only thing I'm saying is don't forget the roots and where true House music
started.

The demo version from "86" with arm pits stink lyric beyond classic and Farely's version is a cheap rip off and not a good one at that.
