I agree people shouldn’t use parts of their bodies for fend off from things as it is dangerous, also more training for first timers would be better, I do not get why they tried to turn around there it’s obviously too small for a boat that size, they are right near a turning circle!
some peeps just should be around water never mind a boat. I can just hear what this person said before he started it up," well is has a steering wheel just like my car. How much different can it be?" I also bet that this is the same type of asshole that enjoys buzzing my kids and I when we are out on the dock bobber fishing for perch. Peeps like that are annoying. Fly by 20feet of the end of the dock at 20 knots... great big lake all kinds of water but they got to buzz us.... assholes
I've been cruising for 15 years, we hire out of Richardsons but because it's the cheaper end of the market you get all sorts going, very young lads, hen nights..and you know they have never been before but they do the checks... 5 mins later their off little or no tuition a boat can easily kill like those above dangling legs over the side to fend off - totally stupid sometimes I think is 30 mins tuition really enough?
A limb is far more valuable than a ding to a boat. You should never use any part of your body to prevent a boat from hitting something. That's what fenders are for.
Well, these arnt twin engined. They've got one engine, 1 prop and 1 propeller.
To turn this on a 6pence, all you have to do is full lock one way, then giv it short blasts forwards for the turning, and then in reverse to stop yourself going forwards.
just back from a week on the Broads and saw much worse. I was mooreed at Acle Bridge waiting on the tide, and turned my head when i heard shouting behind,to see some idiot reverse at speed into another moored boat. when he got off to see the damage , He and the rest of the crew could hardly walk, never mind control a boat. I was really shocked at the amont of drunkenness we saw that week,
@recneps55 they give people with no boating experience boats for the day? I used to have a 20 footer in cardiff bay and thank god they didn't do that there.
Large fast boats + people who have never driven one = ruin and death
I work for one of the larger privately owned boat hire companies in hoveton/wroxham. Theres only so much people will listen to, remember etcetc. Most people just want to know how the toilets work, how to turn it on and off and then they shoot off. Alot of people just dont pay attention or drive too fast. For example, the amount of flat battery callouts are crazy, concisdering we tell everyone to run the engines for 4 - 5 hours a day to charge the batteries.
@recneps55 I think a lot of people don't take in the info at the tuition stage too, through excitement. So the knowledge has all but gone by the time they go on their own. It's obviously far more exciting to take a 45x12 cruiser out than read the handbook 1st. These are about the biggest you can get aren't they? Like the Richardson's Acapulco etc.but newer perhaps. They're gonna need a smaller boat, preferably with oars! They have human fenders too, tut tut.
Saw a very similar thing last week on that corner, the locals must getwell fed up. Surely the hire companies can see that by letting out such monstrosities they are destroying the very thing people go to the Broads for.
@purplegoffer He he - that is how the hire companies survive! (kidding, although I bet that is how they renew their fleet, keeping it nice and shiny...) A great spot though - wooden sailing boats are far more fun mind on the Broads.
The Boatyards need the winter to repair all the damage these Numpties have done. And the banks that they have damaged the wildlife disturbed or frightened away.
Dont matter a damn, They didn't pay to be there did they.
We used to call them The Birmingham Navy. Feel a bit sorry for them; they pay lots of money for a weeks hire, are given minimal training, and are then sent off with quite a large shallow draught boat which doesn't go where they want it to. They expect it to handle like a car and find themselves embarrassed when it doesn't do anything like.
theres only one word for it KNOB all hire boat people canot drive boats and are all tits u smashed up my sailing boat by CRASHING into it get ur own boat and ur eyes tested
Sorry about your boat, don't tar us all with the same brush. I was on a hired boat last week (Hustler from Hunter's). We didn't hit anything. The motor boats should be a lot smaller then maybe the numpties would manage better
@tom123417 "All hire boat people cannot drive boats". What if they have been in a sailing club in their teens and have done a string of Broads cruises. You're one of the biggest assholes I've ever seen on YouTube. Fix your boat, shut your hole, and don't tar all hire boat skippers with the same brush.
I`m an able seaman and a boat owner myself. I`m wondering where the hell are all these amateurs coming from?

Obviously their first boating holiday. Neatishead is a nice first stop for your first day from Stalham - if you can pilot your boat better than this.
