  • gregor the overlander chronicles and hunger games are by same authors

  • @wizard246ify I am secretly hoping that if Hunger Games does well, then they will start thinking about making Gregor the Overlander into a movie since they were both done by the same author. That would be really cool in my opinion.

  • Great vid. Maximum Ride, Erec Rex, and Artemis Fowl would also make excellent movies.

Everybody here has convinced me to take another stab at Gregor the Overlander. *sigh* Another series to get sucked into....

  • @RoyalScribeX I haven't read Erec Rex, but it makes me want to check it out. Thanks for sharing. I read the first Maximum Ride and I totally loved it (except for the cliffhanger made me frustrated that it seems they're always going to leave cliffhangers in each book). I agree it would make an awesome movie though! The graphics would be amazing. Artemis Fowl would be amazing too! I loved that series! Although personally I didn't like bathroom humor. That would need to be scaled back for a movie.

  • GREGOR THE OVERLANDER and RANGER'S APPRENTICE!! WOOO!!!

  • @FiestaSinger Both were so good!! I think they would make totally awesome movies.

  • @hi5brandon ya, but im still excited for the hunger games movie. though in the back of my mind i know there gonna fk it up.

  • @robosoldier11 Yeah, that's how I feel as well. I'm excited for the movie, but a small part of me is dreading it because maybe they're going to mess it up and not do the book any justice. Hopefully they will do a good job, because if they do, I think it will be a really good movie...

  • @hi5brandon ya hopefully it will but whenever they make a movie out of a book series it usually turns out bad. But hell maybe the director will make this movie worth watching.

  • really great vid....

I just finished yesterday the underland chronicles (this series is really great & I am being caught in its entire story though the ending really disappointed me since it ended like *puff*)

still trying to move on. Anyway, almost all of your suggested books that would make amazing movies are interesting since I surf the net to find info in each of it & also now I'll just choose among these to be my next target to read. I'm really thankful you had posted this video.

  • @nylle16 Thanks so much for your comment :). It made my day. I felt the same way about the end of the Gregor series. It was great, but just ended too quickly. I wanted to see more celebrations and what happens after and all that stuff. At least we can make up what happens in our minds. I highly recommend all the books in the video. A few other good ones..."The Tapestry" books. It is way similar to Harry Potter, but it is good once you get past that. Jake Ransom. Beyonders. Magyk.

  • @hi5brandon ur welcome (luckily for me for I had found ur vid).. I will suggest this video of yours to some of my friends...Well, you really do have a good taste since now I am thinking over many times which among the books will I buy (maybe the books(boxed set) that will be still available here in the bookstores in our place) ..I had read the 1st book of Hunger Games and excited for the upcoming movie this march... suzanne collins is great to have two amazing books...

  • u should it's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!

  • @grindner1 I just checked out the first Sister's Grimm book from the library and I'm planning on reading it soon :)

  • @hi5brandon yeah at least we have our powerful minds to picture it.

  • 39 clues and gregor the overlander. you're right. they'll make awesome movies.

  • @appletakatora Yeah! It's fun to think about how amazing they would be :). At least we have the books and we can make them totally awesome in our heads.

  • i would have said hunger games but they are alreadfy making a movie 4 it

  • @totagme I hope they do a really good job with the movie! I guess we will see...

  • gregor the overlander and hunger games!

  • @theUniqueDreamer Really great books! I hope they do a good job with the Hunger Games movie. It looks good so far from the trailer...

  • @hi5brandon i love the idea of having Alcatraz vs the evil librarians becoming a movie, i just read its second book an hour ago before i posted this. i wish they would also do the same (if they make the first one a movie) with the other books in the series

  • @Zapper0369 Yeah. I totally loved the Alcatraz series. I learned that Dreamworks bought the rights to these books to make them into a movie, but they never announced the project and their rights have since expired. So it looks like no Alcatraz movies :(. Too bad. It would have been great in my opinion...

  • I want Gregor the Overlander and Hunger Games soooooo BADLY!!

  • @Anabelle771 You get your wish with Hunger Games this year. Hopefully we'll get our wish for a Gregor the Overlander movie someday soon!

  • I think Hunger Games, Mango Shaped Space, and of course... THE SISTERS GRIMM!!!!!!!

  • @grindner1 I've heard a lot of good things about Sister's Grimm! It is on my to read list and I really want to check it out!

  • the Underland Chronicles is highly under rated! T-T I love it so much! One of the few books I would actually take the time to reread.

  • @moneymaker8815 Yeah. I really enjoyed Gregor the Overlander as well! I think there are a lot of Gregor the Overlander fans out there, but it's surprising it's not a household name like the Hunger games trilogy. I think it will eventually be recognized, especially if the Hunger Games movies do well.

  • @hi5brandon That's how I got into the series. My librarian suggested that because our school library was out of the Hunger Games books (back when it was extremely popular), I should read Suzanne's other series. So I actually read Gregor before the Hunger Games. I fell in love with the series immediately. I suppose people these days are more attracted to movies than books, so hopefully you're right.

  • The reason they haven't made a Gregor the Overlander movie is because the technology isn't good enough yet, and they want it to be perfect. It may be a while unfortunately. But I'm still pumped about the Hunger Games movie!

  • @PercyPotter100 Gregor the Overlander would take a TON of amazing technology or else it wouldn't come out right. I think you make a good point. I'm hoping that if the Hunger Games movies do really well they'll think about turning Gregor the overlander into a movie. We'll see how they do the Hunger Games movies. The trailer makes it look pretty cool!

  • I wish they would make Gregor The Overlander into a movie... Atleast they're making Suzanne Collin's other series, the Hunger Games into a movie! I love Suzanne Collins <3

  • @DeadlikeaPixel I think a Gregor the Overlander movie would be as epic as Harry Potter or any other huge franchise. I totally agree Suzanne Collins is a way good author. And I hope the Hunger Games movies are good! The trailer makes it look pretty cool!

  • Omg.. I love the ending of Dragon Slippers, but I hate how they end it like this, " Shardas is back!" Then they don't show him at all. D: But seriously, I LOVE THAT BOOK ! I wish they could make an epic movie of Dragon Slippers. :D Dragon Slippers all the way!

  • @xXxLoveSetsunaxXx Yeah. I think it would be such a cool movie too! One of my favorite things to do is imagine my favorite books as movies and I think Dragon Slippers would be a really cool one. It would make a great series too because the next books were good too.

  • GREGOR THE OVERLANDER ALL THE WAY!

  • @DarkGuidry Fly you high Overlander! I'm hoping that if the Hunger Games movies do well that they will consider making Gregor into a real movie too (since they have the same author). If they did it right I think Gregor the Overlander would be like "Lord of the Rings" success but for kids and teenagers. It would be tricky to get it right. But it is fun to imagine what an awesome movie it would make.

  • OH GOSH I LOVE YOU.

I agreed with like half of these! And those were just the ones I'd already read! ESPECIALLY Dragon Slippers... that would make an epic movie! OH SO EPIC.

  • @Misshoneyham Well thank you!! That is fun to hear you liked all these books too! It makes me feel like I have good taste :). I agree Dragon Slippers would be such an epic movie. I honestly think it would do really well at the box office too if they stayed faithful to the book and did everything right! It would such a fun adventure story that the whole family would like! Thanks for sharing!

  • maybe this is where directors get there ideas ahhh gud old youtube

  • @RavagedGun59 I think Hollywood would benefit from a good dose of listening to the little people a little bit more often :)

  • ALCATRAZ VS SERIES ROCKS

  • @TurnThatFace No Kidding!! I think those books are so good. Dreamworks bought the rights to turn those books into movies, but they have never green-lit the project and the contract is almost up. Too bad. I think it could have been such a good movie if they did it right. At least we have the books!

  • @BOOKGUY13 I didn't think before of making 39 Clues into a TV show. What a good idea! It would totally lend itself to be a cool TV show. On imdb.com it says they're planning on making a 39 clues movie, set to release in 2014. But having said that, a LOT of books make into the pre-production stages but then are never green-lit in the end (so I guess I doubt it will be made a movie until they announce it for sure). Same story with a Fablehaven movie. I hope they do make them in the end!

  • wildwood is a good book

  • @S0M3THING3VIL I never heard of that book but I looked it up and it looks really interesting. I want to read it now. Thanks for sharing!

  • @hi5brandon I could see the CGI-style of movies like Polar Express looking cool if they did the graphics right. I also like your suggestion of turning it into a TV show. I think a lot of books would lend themselves to being amazing TV shows. The advantage of TV shows is if a book is really long you could still be completely faithful to the story whereas in movies you often have to cut out tons of the story for the sake of time.

  • @hi5brandon It would indeed look awesome if we got ovr 10 hrs worth of movies in the style of Beowulf or videogame-style cut-scenes, w/ animal characters looking like giant versions ofthe real-world animals, & w/ convincing mo-capture actors and voice actors, especially for Gregor, Luxa, and Boots.

But itwould take like 10 yrs to release 5 movies, &each movie wouldhave a budget of 100s of millions ofdollars. I'd want a cheap but creative animation style to release the movies on a quick schedule.

  • @Divers1990 Yeah I agree it would be hard to wait several years and would be nice to not to have to wait too long. I also think that doing things cheaper doesn't have to mean it is low quality so I think a cartoon of it would be way awesome as well.. Cartoon shows like Avatar I think show you can do a great job on shows without having to have Hollywood's millions of dollars. I like the points you are making. Thanks for sharing.

  • the hunger games

  • @TheThunderwolf91 Yeah. Let's hope they do a good job with the movie coming out next year. I loved the story of Hunger Games, although I hope they don't make it very violent. The story in and of itself is violent, but I hope they tone it down a ton for the movie. I also hope they stay faithful to the book. It always bugs me when they change things that don't need to be changed. We'll see how it turns out...

  • Gregor the Overlander would be so epic that the world will explode from the pure epicness - if they stay faithful to the book, that is...

  • @xXMidnightdoveXx I think Gregor the Overlander would be a totally amazing movie too! Wouldn't it be cool if they decided to make it after they do the Hunger Games (since Suzanne Collins wrote both). It would cost tons of money, but if they did it right it would be sooo cool! Although they would have to be careful to do it right, cause Percy Jackson was an amazing book too, but it was only an average movie.

  • omg i've read princess acadamy, gregor the ovelandor, dragon slippers, they should make the book magyk into a movie too its a really good book the sptimus heap series

  • @kittenrox2011 Weren't those good books! I've read the first Magyk book and I totally agree that it would be an awesome movie. In fact, I was going to make another youtube video with 15 more books and the Magyk book was going to be one of the books I mentioned. Wouldn't Magyk be a totally awesome movie. I'm excited to read the rest in the series. Thanks for sharing.

  • omg they are makig a gregor the overlander movie but by the actors list they have in mind i already know it will be a screwup like percy jackson :[ i mean they have the same guy from percy jackson playing as gregor i mean gregor is 11 not 15! and boots is the girl from good luck charlie!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats gunna suck :[ ohh and add the hunger games by suzzanne collins to the list {beat sieries ever} and warriors by erin hunter!

  • @penguinsrock971 I think whoever said they're making a gregor the overlander movie was pulling everyone's leg. I tried looking it up and I couldn't find it. BUT I SURE HOPE YOU"RE RIGHT...cause I think Gregor the Overlander movie would be totally awesome! I just finished the Mockingjay book and it was really good. I haven't read Warriors but I totally want to check it out now. Thanks!

  • @hi5brandon ya i think it was a lie to but i could happen cuz they are thinking of a cast but its not offical [plus ther is so much fan made stuff] and cungrats on finishing the hunger games sieries! it was a great siries except the ending.....its to plain. like gregor.. she is realy good at the story line and yada yada but the ending was a fail!!!! total fail. ih and warrioirs is a great sireis ps. it will be a little boring at points but stick in ther it will be wort it!

  • @penguinsrock971 I agree she could have made the endings a little longer so that you felt a bit happier, rather than all of a sudden it's over kind of thing. I'll keep that in mind when I read the warriors books. Thanks for letting me know!

  • The maze runner by James Dashner is a great book and I hope it becomes a movie.

  • @poco828 I've heard of Maze Runner but I've never read it. It sounds really interesting. I'll take a look at it. Thanks for sharing!

  • Dragon Slippers series in incredible, would totally love a dragon movie.

  • @imdownlikethat I agree! It would be a totally fun movie. I thought the Dragon Slippers series was really creative. I like it too because I think it is an adventure book that both guys and girls would like and not just one or the other.

  • I have read 2 of those Alcatraz and Gregor

  • @GregandCarrot Two of my favorite ones! I think they both would be totally awesome movies too.

  • the percy jackson and olypians would be a good movie if the stayed true to the book. the movie was awful. and the uglies series would be good

  • @gh9709 I think Percy Jackson would have been so amazing if they stayed faithful to the book. I love that series. I haven't read the uglies yet but I am a fan of Scott Westerfeld and it is on my "to read" list. It's interesting because Scott Westerfeld said on his website that someone optioned the book for the movie rights, but it looks like they won't be making the movie...too bad.

  • it would be good for alcatraz vs the evil librarians

  • @imjustadream1 Yeah! Alcatraz vs. the Evil Librarians would be such a good movie!

  • Gregor the Overlander is probably the best book i have ever read... they NEED to make that a movie... although it would be really hard to catch the whole setting of the underland...

  • @Squirmles123 I totally agree Gregor the Overlander would be an amazing movie! It would be tricky to get it right, but if they did, then it would be epic!

  • @Squirmles123 ikr...I've read it exactly 13 times and it doesn't get old :D not only would the set be incredibly difficult, but so would the creatures and the people - it would probably be a multi-million dollar movie and it would have to be longer than the Harry Potter movies...maybe 4 hours...

  • @xXMidnightdoveXx

The difference between a series like Harry Potter and The Underland Chronicles is that a full year passes for every book in Harry's world. TUC would require at least half the total running time of the Harry Potter movies, but it would still take at least 5 years to make the whole series-- enough for the actors who play Gregor and Luxa to age far too much unless severe liberties were taken with the story. I'd prefer a 35-ish episode animated series with TV-PG/TV-14 ratings.

  • @Divers1990 I think you make a really good point about the actors aging too much between movies. If they were really amibtious they could film it like Lord of the Rings where they film then all at once, but having said that I know Hollywood would never take the risk to make 5 movies without knowing if it would do well or not. I really like your suggestion on making it animated.

  • @hi5brandon Do people still watch basic cable? Like Cartoon Network? Because It would be nice to have the animated series with an art style that makes it obvious that most of the series takes place in low lighting settings.

If it airs just before the [Adult Swim] block starts, it could have that, slightly more mature vibe to it.

Gregor can't just be a generic brown-haired boy drawn in a 'superhero townsperson' or Ben 10 style, but it would be helpful if his voice actor sounded like a New Yorker.

  • I think the book Masterpeice by Elise Broach would be an AWESOME movie! XD

  • @Gosposistas1 I haven't heard of Masterpiece. I looked it up and it sounds really interesting. I just put it in my "to read" list. Thanks!

  • they are soooo good! they better make a good movie or my life will ruined!

  • @lilroxpanda :) Yeah I hate it when they ruin an amazing book with a bad movie, but I totally love it when they make a great movie out of great book...

Hopefully they do a good job with Hunger Games!

  • WHAT ABOUT THE HUNGER GAMES?!!! :( THT'S ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS!!!

  • @lilroxpanda Hunger Games was a really good one! I've only read the first one and I need to finish the other two. I'm sure you knew this but they're making a movie of it. I hope they do a good job!

  • wow you are a Genious

  • @chuck59778 Well thank you! I assume you like the books I chose :).

  • hey can u suggest me any intresting book like underland , cause i cant find anything interesting after finishing it

  • @commanderchewbacca2 hmm...I can make a few suggestions. They're not exactly like the Underland Chronicles but I really enjoyed them. I would try Percy Jackson: The lightning Thief and that whole series if you haven't already. It's a really fun action adventure series. I would also try Alcatraz vs Evil Librarians. It's more light-hearted/fun than Underland, but its still a fun adventure story. The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis were also very good books.

  • @hi5brandon thanks man!! ill check out these books

  • @commanderchewbacca2 You might like the Magic Thief Series by Sarah Prineas or Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull. They're both good fantasy books as well. It's hard to think of something exactly like Gregor the Underlander, but go ahead and take a look at all these to see if they interest you (also look at all the titles in the video). I most highly recommend the Percy Jackson series. They were really fun books for me...

  • cheers 4 rangers apprentice and underland !!

  • I LOVE Alcatraz verses the evil librarians!!!

Also the rest of the series! I also like sisters Grimm series!

  • @dougsunglasses11x3

I totally agree! Alcatraz was so good! I haven't read the Sister's Grimm series, but my wife has started it and she says they're really good. I'll have to check them out! Thanks for commenting!
