  • why is the boom in Finland short everywhere? in Norway there are four different types, full-load drum, half drum load, and unsecured transition with gates and transition with lights and bells with no misses.

  • That's a safety measure, no-one wants to get between full-booms. On Murtomäki and Mellilä level crossings, there are quad-boom crossings; second pair of booms descend 10 seconds after first one, blocking road from both sides.

  • some level crossings in Finland should have a longer fall short in terms of safety. but with a safety net will be okay. I have not seen any accidents or near misses on a few videos from finland.

  • in Norway there have been many accidents at level crossings and it did in fact host a day that a man who would accept a cigarette from another man out of the door on the train and caught the train in 100-200 meters along the platform, but some withdrew the emergency brake. the train will not be able to run with a door ajar so it was strange that the train registered door that closed. I had to make a part 2 to the commentary.
