WA or Fed Gov should be stepping in to support this sanctuary. It obviously plays an important part not only environmentally but from an educational point as well. How fantastic is it that there are obviously people from all around the world visiting or working there. Aust has a very embarrassing extinction record and it is about time our gov steps up and supports worthy causes like this sanctuary. Sometimes it seem to me we are always sending money o/s and neglecting our own backyard.
hey carol, only just found out about all this - what a tragedy it will be if it all goes ahead! it really makes me wonder how something like this could really happen, those of us who have visited the sanctury know only too well that those roos are dependant on people for thier survival - especially Arnie (he's my favourite). all the best from Kalgoorlie
It is now for sale privately through the agent. Most important thing is that being passed in at auction, with no bidders, means we have more time to find a permanent solution and secure Roo Gully, especially as properties are not really selling at the moment.
The result expected and deserved! Time for either a philanthropist or the Australian Government to step in and pay for the property, so that the damaging effect of the unwilling partner can be removed, and Carol Lander & her brilliant volunteers and students can continue their great work.
Yes, I hope his unfaithfulness comes back to face HIM! (Ooohh, I'm so angry at him for just deserting his wife like this!!)
And Carol, it's Sunday afternoon here, probably Monday where you are, but my deepest sympathy for you and your kangaroos. I hope someone will come along with intent to care for the roos and wildlife if you are not able to.
