good shit big up to Harlod and Kumar for bringin all these baby ear youngstas to listen to some REAL FUNK!!! and yes blaze some to this!! get ya mind blown
If you can recall Tony Terry's performance of the excellent 'Lovey Dovey' on The Apollo back in the day, you'll realise his stage choreography - as well as the actual Dovey song - were both updates (excellent updates, at that) of this great song and video! Lakeside - your music's on the one ! Numero uno !
I have nothing but love for these guys. They made some out of this world music back in the day that (in my opinion) still sounds great. Thanks Lakeside!!! JW
In Miami, Fl., I remember going to the Superstar Rollertech! After getting home from High School, washing the car, cutting the grass, and getting that "Allowance"...... It was Party Time! It's been fun! Later!
They are singing 'bout me - Love Lakeside ! Also love the way my brothers are fittin' in those jeans back in the day :) super sexy ! Funky guitars, keyboards, drums & singing...the way it's supposed to be done !
Proud and happy to say, Amazing masterful talented musical groups from the "Gem City", Dayton, Ohio! The Ohio Players, Zapp featuring Roger, Heatwave, Slave, Sun, Shirley Murdock, Steve Arrington, Mel'sa Morgan and of course, Lakeside
@visionoflife4u i'm not being petty about caps... i have respect and i immediately lost it when you sent a message in ALL CAPS. like i said, it's as if you were yelling. although obviously you didn't know that so i understand. but that's why i reacted like that was cuz of the all caps.
@visionoflife4u OMG YOU IDIOT TURN OFF YOUR CAPSLOCK. OBVIOUSLY I APPRECIATE THE ORIGINAL SONG. I WOULDN'T BE HERE LISTENING TO IT AND COMMENTING ON IT IF I DIDN'T.
What i liked about lakeside was the musicanship, the tightness of the instruments. All their songs sounded very clear, matter of fact, all of SOLAR records songs sounded very clear, especially for the early 80s
TRUE FUNK, I had the privaledge in seeing them in concert with the Whispers, Shalimar, and featuring Carry Lucas, and that was in the eeeeeeeeeeeearly 80's!
They are so happy but I'm close to cry - what a tune. What a loss and downgrade in today's so called contemporary music. You say that all is going in circles but this will never come back, believe me. In that time I thought that quality music will stay or even become better, but we did not take care, we let the wrong people decide and now it's too late.
One of the baddest groups ever!!! This was the jam back in da day!!! Some of the finest brothers ever... See em workin those afros and jeans... Back in the day you could see what a man was working with!!! Hate thos saggy jeans these days... Oh it's something about this woman from New Orleans!!!
@nucpotato give it a rest? alls i said was that it was sampled on Nothin' But Love... besides, many people wouldn't know who Lakeside was if artists like Tupac and Coolio hadn't sampled their music.
@toksgirl NO WAY... REALLY? lakeside made this song BEFORE tupac used a sample of it??!!! I thought Tupac made it first!! I figured Lakeside copied him!!! Haha DURR I'm stupid and you're so cool and smart for listening to old music and not knowing anything about Hip-Hop!
"Cause if you ever had a good love then there's one thing you gotta know, that there's something about that woman. She's got something you can't live without, makes your heart sing. It's just something about that woman. If you're in doubt then you are missing out on a good thang."
Those lyrics are still catchy to this day, and I'm still that "woman" they're talking about. LOL. Go Lakeside!!
I can't thank you enough for uploading this. An audio only version disappeared a while ago.I never thought I'd see this video or some others ever again, you tube rocks !
