We know now that he can't cange much very quickly, but Earth hour brough people together, saying that "we want to do something about this." I'm pretty sure you won't spend an hour on the computer trying to find Earth hour when you already know when it's going to happen. I think that turning off your lights for an hour won't do much. If your electricity is coming from a thermal power plant, no effect. Hydro, the effect could be that the water level will rise and could cause flooding in some areas. Is that good ? The thing to impose you be not to have any car running for an hour (except emergency vehicules obviously)... Measure before and after and tell us the impact. If that is measurable, we'll have a fact on what to base our jugement regarding CO2 emissions.

ok i come from a lil country call New Zealand and we source 70-80% of electricty from hydro lakes and if we all turned off all-most power for an hour we could save our selves from power cuts or black outs that we get every year, as the lake levels are very very low. but i do agree that cars should be included but even a small step in the right direction is better than no step.

Earth Hours FAQ even states that "power generators change their outputs accordingly" however this change isn't instant. Otherwise when everyone turned back on the lights and other electronics there would be a blackout due to supply being less than demand.

So again, Earth Hour is ALL about awareness of climate change.
