Landing was not that hard, even as a kid I was able to do it. The hard part is in the second mission when you need to refuel. To this day I still can't do it.

Make sure you keep your plane's speed between 300 to 320 & simply tap which ever direction the screen tells you.

@mrivera279 Actually, there is a method to it. Once you figure it out, you shouldn't crash after that. What's hard is the last level, especially the final boss, the shuttle station... but even though I haven't played this game in around 20 years, I'm pretty sure that I can still finish it, with a score of at least 80,000 too!
