Avidemux works on Windows as well...what the tut doesn't mention is that the two video parts need to have the same resolution, or you will get an error and fail...

There's an easier way, use Mencoder:

mencoder -forceidx -ovc copy -oac copy -o Movie.avi 'Movie Part 1.avi' 'Movie Part 2.avi'
