After reading your comment I bet you have never lived in Africa. You are probably a "human lover" kind so frequent in the West (no offence). Not that I lived in Africa either, but at least I studied the subject pretty thoroughly. Believe me on this: the longer white people lived in Africa the less they were of egalitarian kind and more they were of racist kind. Boers, who lived there for hundreds of years, ended up being most racist of all. Isnt there something in it you think?

As for being lazy, of course there are different people in every nation, but if you believe in a 'national character', then hardworking was not a typical virtue of blacks. One example: on uneven grounds blacks often ploughed their land downhill because it is easier than across the hill. They knew less rain water would stay and the streams would wash down fertile soil, damaging roots. But they kept practicing it for ages. And it did not stop them from blaming whites for having most fertile land.

But then you are left with a very complex ordeal, if you overthrow a government to put people in that actually care about the people then aren't those new people who are put in charge going to in turn become corrupt over time and you are back to the same thing. I think that the problem is that some people have always been above justice. Tsvangirai aside there were problems in the governance of the country which have exacerbated any Sanctions economic/political pressure. desperate people will happily vote for an idiot like Morgan.Zanu's M O is responsible for a lot of this despair regardless of trade imbalances & all the issues affecting the 3rd world.

Africa needs help from the West in order to become self sufficient. But first Africa needs leaders with legitimacy, politicians who actually conform to the will of the electorate. I pray for this day, which may have come yesterday with the MDC win in Zim. Mr. Tsvangirai is a great man; though I liked Dr. Mutambara also. Dr. Mutambara has a better grasp on the economic problems facing Zim. Hopefully they will work together and form an alliance.

And saying that you don't need help is a rather bold statement from someone advocating for a country with 2,000,000% inflation, 80% unemployment, a third of the population dependent on food aid, and another third of the country having skipped to South Africa.
