For those of you who Don't know? the backup guitar player is Jim Suhler and he is one GREAT player himself. His band is named "Jim Suhler and Monkey Beat" so see if you can find some of their stuff and give it a listen too! "Starvation Box" is a very good song by them, I recommend it for a first listen to this band.
I for some reason like the song when bad to the bone like crackles in his voice. In this it's kind of bland. In my OPINION!!!! I just wasn't felling the usual vibe.
@DragonknightPM agreed bro old/classic forever im 18 and fuckig hate rap at metallica and slayer are kicking major ass these days! hell metallica toured 2 1/2 years straight 2008-2010! now lets see any justin gayber band top any of the true gods of real music HA!
Old rock n roll...is the only rock n roll. The kids now days and the crap they listen to, cant even call it rock. If it isn't this crap called rap, called something else...just a bunch of want to be's....trying to make music. Kids get on here comparing old rockers to this new crap...no one has never heard of their names.
My former band use to cover this song in high school and our lead singer couldnt do the "b-b-b" part. It was like he had a frozen bottom lip or something.
Without people like George Thorogood, the rockers that kept keeping rock n' roll prominent wouldn't exist. It's not about technical superiority, it's about playing loud, and kicking as much arse as you can.
hate the fact that stupid ignorants compare old rock bands with actual rock bands, they just can't understand that without old rock bands, actual rock bands just wouldn't exist......... stupid people so-called "rock fans" spiting in their own faces.
@gotzou I do belive by stereo typing those groups of people that think old rock sucks and that actull rock is good that you too sir have beocme ignorant...If thats thier opinion leave it to tehm
ahhh one of my favourite Blues-Rock songs since I'm a Blues guitarist :) Every time I play this one riff, I get in the zone. When I start singing it, I end up with a Louis Armstrong sort of tone... but that's what makes it cooler I guess :D lol
Mark Knopfler is the most famous (and by far the best) electric finger picker of all time... only used a pick on a handful of Dire Straits tunes. hardly ever used the gained-out blues tone, though.
I would rather say that Dire Straits was famous for Mark Knopfler, but his carreer has diminished slightly since then. But he is just as skilled as he was back in the 80's!
@justjustin333 go and see this vid from Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing (live Wembley 85) HD and than came come back and write the same words dude :-) george iss also cool, you cant say he is better our famous than knopfler, this two makes different musik. greetz from germany
@justjustin333 I wouldn't say thorogood is more famous, Knopfler is well known for his playing, and he's a guitar god if you know what I'm saying, and on the other side Thorogood is a awesome guitarist too
love this song it's a classic.
