I would agree with you to a point. The President is somewhat more responsible than congress since they set the agenda to a greater degree. I'm not one to argue for higher or lower taxes. I simply believe that if we're getting programs (medicare D for example), defense (cold war spending / Iraq), and health care reform (Current plans), with tax cuts then someone is cooking the books somewhere. It's not an honest nor a sustainable plan.
Regan saddled us with nearly 3 trillion in debt as well... he was no saint. If we had TRUE pay-go policies from the beginning in which congress had to pass tax increases for any spending they wished to do, we'd not have the deficit we have today AND we'd have a much smaller federal government. The average Republican still holds their big government values, along with this whole notion of preemptive war and world policing; not to mention their desire to push their social agenda upon us all. They are just as big of hypocrites when they tout the Constitution as the Democrats...
I'd like to learn more about Paul -- since I am increasingly frustrated with the GOP selling out to save their careers & leaning more and more to the left. Any suggestions (from RP supporters only) of a good site, book, etc. that will get me started on learning about him? thanks yt'ers! btw, great channel!
his book "ron paul revolution" is a very good read to get an entry into libertarian philosophy, but at the end he had a reading list that i took al ook at.
if you want the most complete libertarian read, I recommend "The God of the Machine" by Isabel Paterson, its on the RP reading list at the end
it has to be the most introspective look at libertarianism/ its influence on world history that ive ever read
ayn rand said it does for libertarianism what the bible does for christians
hey, thanks for the info. :0) wasn't rose wilder, the daughter of laura ingalls wilder (the pioneer woman whom the little house of the prairie book/tv series are based upon), one of the founders of the libertarian party??
yeah, i believe the three founding mothers of modern american libertarianism are ayn rand (even though she despised libertarianism), isabel paterson, and rose wilder
If it looks like a Libertarian, sounds like a Libertarian, and votes like a Libertarian, why do we focus on REPUBLICANS? They had their chance and even now they reject RP. Do we want to keep beating our heads against that moderately liberal wall?
Okay so I like Ron Paul too...but if you attack Obama with extremist Austrian economics and attack the Fed Reserve with the idea that we will have NOTHING resembling a national bank and instead have only a strict gold standard with deregulated banking ... you will not be competitive
Just because you and the "mainstream" economists like to refer to the Austrian School as extreme does nothing to discredit the theories and laws that it postulates.
Who said anything about a "strict gold standard" anyway. Most of us are talking about competition in currencies, not GOLD OR BUST.
And we are plenty competitive. Not sure if you're referring to the market of ideas or politically, but I would argue both. HR 1207 is a shining example of both.
2. Many portions of Austrian School economics were popular with Greenspan and prevail at world financial bodies such as the IMF. They have been implemented in many countries undemocratically, with near zero popular support.
3. Ron Paul constantly stresses a strict gold standard. If you don't, that is fine with me.
4. YAY for HR 1207. I am not against you or Paul, I am against Austrian economics *and* the privately-owned Fed.
Pure free market is, yes. Arguably it has never existed (either some govt controls or monopolisation), but as the world has moved towards deregulation and new problems arise, Austrian economists say, "Oh we have problems because there is some regulation, we have to get rid of these and give more power to multinationals".
So if your view is driven by ideology, not praxis, and it has almost no popular support, then it is extremist. And also it is anti-conservative.
Ron Paul is a true leader who was right on foreign police, economics, and everything else. His prophecies are coming to fruition, so he will be a relevant figure.
I like Ron Paul and I also like Alan Keyes. I think that either one of them could be the saviors of the conservative people. And I suppose yall heard that Keyes was arrested at Notre Dame along with others for protesting against Obama and speaking their minds.
I cannot get enough of Ron Paul. This is coming from a devout atheist, democrat, my only regret is that I only discovered who he was towards the end of the republican primaries .
Funny when Ron Paul started in the primaries i thought he was just a pacifist kook.. but god dmn this man has really made some noise and brought great ideas out .. best ideas since Reagan .. and this is coming from a guiliani supporter .. but ive seen moderation and big govt mess the party up .. i allways felt moderate because of my libertarian social views .. but most moderate gop went for big govt ..now time to give the paleo/libertarian view debate ..old orthodox neocon style is dead
I'm with you, Mr. Southern Avenger. If anything it seems to me that not enough has been said about Ron Paul. He really shows what it is to be a man, consistent, tireless, knowledgeable, true integrity. The media managed to paint the picture of him they wanted to in the end, but anyone seriously looking has to realize that the Republicans are a total moral and intellectual vacuum without him.
SA you say the main priority for Conservatives should be cutting public spending, but you know what the usual priority is for most conservatives when it comes to cutting public spending
Getting rid of social spending and welfare for the poorest members of society
they aren't usually interested in cutting the overbloated military budget or tackling corporate welfare first
I like Ron Paul and his ideas and plans, but at the same time I think Isn't this just a retelling of the Ross Perot story? Think about it, I liked Perot, alot of people did, he was a promising candidate for office who was talking about making much needed changes in government who had a substantial following, who got muscled out by the big two. How can we have true democracy in a two party state?
If you have a son, you could name him "Ron Paul" or you could be in a Led Zeppelin tribute band and be "Ron Paul Jones." Then you wouldn't have to talk about him because it would just happen. :)
The D and the R's are more alike than not! It is time to DUMP the Republicans period. Goggle the book Republicans were Red from the Start! It is the truth. I wish the Liberation and Constitution Party would join together - we might have a fighting chance then.
If the Republican Party fails to make HR 1207 a wedge issue, I may be done with the GOP. I was a Central Valley Tea Party Organizer, we had over 7500 people attend. I have been a Republican since 1983, a disgruntled Republican since 2003. Search "Fresno Tea Party" for some awesome speeches, we even had our version of "Joe the Plumber", Steve the Carpet Cleaner was a huge hit with his End the Fed Speech!
SA another good video and never stop talking about Ron Paul. My opinion the best canadite for president to come along in a while. Hope the Dems like the more of the same they voted in, Really when dose common sense take over?
We don't. I was a Democrat, but I feel like Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and the other Spendocrats stole the party. I got so pissed I joined the modern Whig Party haha.
Sounds and looks good keep up the fight, I'd rather see a Libertarian or a Whig party member as Prez then the current peanut gallery of Lefties and righties. To bad more people don't realize that the key to happiness on both sides is the middle ground.
There are certain things that only the Fed can do that the States can't. Regulating immigration, building and maintaining a strong national defense, and instituting pandemic prevention and management policy are a few of those things. I believe a "small" government would lack the capacity to handle those issues.
It is a gross misstatement to say that Jeb or Mitt are republicans or conservative. Their tour should have been called the blind leading the blind. Our republican central committee is now headed by Ron Paul republicans. Not all of those elected were Ron Paul supporters. Come next election Ron Paul supporters will hold every seat in the central committee. Now that's change you can believe in.
Damnit, I hit the vote down button by accident, sorry.
What I wanted to say is that I agree and I hope that the Republicans push Jeb as that will only further their demise. The Republicans don't seem to get it yet that they are finished as a brand name. The winter of their discontent is going to be a long one. It's time for a true alternative to big leftist government Democrats, Libertarians.
No more neocons, no more statists, no more lying scumbags. Just libertarians please.
This tour Romney set up is proof the Republican party is just after power. Why do they need to "find" something to run on? I thought the whole point of voting for them was because they have principles that coincide with what's best for the country? Now they're not sure what they believe or represent but they still know they want to hold power in the government? That's the opposite of the way it's suppose to work.
( Not really, just practising, once those Left Wing Jewish Hate Speech Laws are enacted and the Internet is shut down I want to be sure I got my mind right in advance.)
I love my new Immigrant Overlords!
No Guns or Bibles in this House Sir!
Thank you! May I have another?
We need much more Diversity and Multiculturalism, it makes us stronger!!
I don't hate Clinton but I question some of his actions. Why is it that he was too valuable to be drafted, yet he didn't prohibit it when he became president? I am opposed to the draft, btw. Shutting down the government was a PR stunt so the media could go and interview all the federal workers who weren't getting paid and the country could all shed a collective tear.
I am for the draft , size shit up real quick, as long as we don't recruit in high schools and junior highs, we should be providing an education, not selling war. Instead we support an indefinite war machine. Find a more effective budget within the last thirty years.
Minimum wage laws hurt the least skilled workers keeping them out of the job market. It also keeps workers back by being a disincentive to better themselves. No one should be satisfied with crappy floor sweeping or whatever. Minimum wage legislation destroys lives. Think outside the box and don't lap up what the establishment feeds you.
Minimum wage laws insure that business will have a mass of happy menials.
Thought you just said balance the budget. That would be funny, because first of all it was a Republican Congress and second of all they used the Social Security Trust Fund to do so. That's not balancing sorry, it's still a deficit.
So you support Al Gore's idea of a lock box on S.S. Social Security has been raided for war and tax breaks for those who profit from war and tax breaks. Are you one of those people, doubt it. quit voting against yourself or volunteer, there are plenty of soldiers that need a break.
I hate when people who say I vote against myself or my best interests as if they know what is best for me.
So you basically admit that SS is mainly a program to rake in more funds for the government to use and serves no real benefit to the people its support to help. If that is really what it is about lets just kill it.
I don't hate Bill Clinton. However, I think something needs to be set straight here:
Clinton wasn't as great with the budget as people would like to believe.
The size of government did NOT shrink(it grew), but tax receipts went through the roof. Why? Because the Nasdaq bubble generated huge capital gains taxes. And that was a bubble, so Clinton's balanced budget wasn't on a sound foundation. It would have failed even without Bush.
becuz clinton doctored numbers and events to make him look good, corruption was everywhere in his term, under clinton many nations were needlessly attacked or bullied for no interest of our own and yet he is seens as a great prez cuz the dow jones was going up at the time. therefore his presidenccy sucked.
Ron Paul shouldn't even be a Republican. The Republican party's old ways are long gone, and right now it's the party of dumb Christian conservatives who only care about antagonizing Democrats like the dumb little agents of primitive tribalism they are.
I think you meant your comment to be a complement to Ron Paul. Not so sure people got that. I have to say I wished Ron Paul had had a little less self-interest and would have broken free of the Republican Party. A party which has become the Big Government Social Conservative party. Sometime repair is impossible and it is time to replace.
Paul cannot convince one group of people; the Republican Establishment. At best, they would water down his ideas until they became meaningless. At worst, they will arrange for him to disappear.
The Republican Party is the War party, with all the big government that implies.. That will not change. Ron Paul and those that follow him in earnest need to leave the Republican party behind. Not try to save it.
the largest war appropriations bill ever in American history was signed into law for 09-10 by Obama up 4% over W up troops by 21,000 and has expanded the failed war on terror to Pakistan since day two in office.
Truth is -- both parties grow the Welfare/Warfare state we live in they just flip roles from time to time. That is why Ron Paul's message is growing daily!
Advocate limited constitutional government daily :)!

uche007us 2 years ago 2
I don't believe Ron Paul's fellow reps are willing to join with him as much as they are willing to co-opt his ideas then warp & adulterate them.
6of6 2 years ago
I'd like to learn more about Paul -- since I am increasingly frustrated with the GOP selling out to save their careers & leaning more and more to the left. Any suggestions (from RP supporters only) of a good site, book, etc. that will get me started on learning about him? thanks yt'ers! btw, great channel!
jazzinnature081 2 years ago 3
his book "ron paul revolution" is a very good read to get an entry into libertarian philosophy, but at the end he had a reading list that i took al ook at.
if you want the most complete libertarian read, I recommend "The God of the Machine" by Isabel Paterson, its on the RP reading list at the end
it has to be the most introspective look at libertarianism/ its influence on world history that ive ever read
ayn rand said it does for libertarianism what the bible does for christians
Terrorera 2 years ago
hey, thanks for the info. :0) wasn't rose wilder, the daughter of laura ingalls wilder (the pioneer woman whom the little house of the prairie book/tv series are based upon), one of the founders of the libertarian party??
jazzinnature081 2 years ago
yeah, i believe the three founding mothers of modern american libertarianism are ayn rand (even though she despised libertarianism), isabel paterson, and rose wilder
Terrorera 2 years ago
If it looks like a Libertarian, sounds like a Libertarian, and votes like a Libertarian, why do we focus on REPUBLICANS? They had their chance and even now they reject RP. Do we want to keep beating our heads against that moderately liberal wall?

Okay so I like Ron Paul too...but if you attack Obama with extremist Austrian economics and attack the Fed Reserve with the idea that we will have NOTHING resembling a national bank and instead have only a strict gold standard with deregulated banking ... you will not be competitive
maxime32 2 years ago
Just because you and the "mainstream" economists like to refer to the Austrian School as extreme does nothing to discredit the theories and laws that it postulates.
Who said anything about a "strict gold standard" anyway. Most of us are talking about competition in currencies, not GOLD OR BUST.
And we are plenty competitive. Not sure if you're referring to the market of ideas or politically, but I would argue both. HR 1207 is a shining example of both.
immanent 2 years ago
1. I AM NOT A MAINSTREAM ECONOMIST.
I am not against you or Paul, I am against Austrian economics *and* the privately-owned Fed.
maxime32 2 years ago
So, free market principles are "extremist"?
erato99 2 years ago
Pure free market is, yes. Arguably it has never existed (either some govt controls or monopolisation), but as the world has moved towards deregulation and new problems arise, Austrian economists say, "Oh we have problems because there is some regulation, we have to get rid of these and give more power to multinationals".
So if your view is driven by ideology, not praxis, and it has almost no popular support, then it is extremist. And also it is anti-conservative.
No, I am not Keynesian.

Keep talking about RP please

GBanville 2 years ago 2
I'm a market liberal and centrist who believes in smaller government and the protection of individual liberties.
I also believe that Ron Paul is the best chance for the GOP, but Republicans are so stupid!!
As a Canadian, I would love to see someone like a Ron Paul make a run for office over here.
We could use someone like Paul in our parliamentary process!

SA you say the main priority for Conservatives should be cutting public spending, but you know what the usual priority is for most conservatives when it comes to cutting public spending
Getting rid of social spending and welfare for the poorest members of society
they aren't usually interested in cutting the overbloated military budget or tackling corporate welfare first
RevolutionaryJam 2 years ago
I like Ron Paul and his ideas and plans, but at the same time I think Isn't this just a retelling of the Ross Perot story? Think about it, I liked Perot, alot of people did, he was a promising candidate for office who was talking about making much needed changes in government who had a substantial following, who got muscled out by the big two. How can we have true democracy in a two party state?

If the Republican Party fails to make HR 1207 a wedge issue, I may be done with the GOP. I was a Central Valley Tea Party Organizer, we had over 7500 people attend. I have been a Republican since 1983, a disgruntled Republican since 2003. Search "Fresno Tea Party" for some awesome speeches, we even had our version of "Joe the Plumber", Steve the Carpet Cleaner was a huge hit with his End the Fed Speech!

Now that's change you can believe in.

jcarter557 2 years ago
Damnit, I hit the vote down button by accident, sorry.
What I wanted to say is that I agree and I hope that the Republicans push Jeb as that will only further their demise. The Republicans don't seem to get it yet that they are finished as a brand name. The winter of their discontent is going to be a long one. It's time for a true alternative to big leftist government Democrats, Libertarians.
No more neocons, no more statists, no more lying scumbags. Just libertarians please.

MS1719ms 2 years ago 5
This tour Romney set up is proof the Republican party is just after power. Why do they need to "find" something to run on? I thought the whole point of voting for them was because they have principles that coincide with what's best for the country? Now they're not sure what they believe or represent but they still know they want to hold power in the government? That's the opposite of the way it's suppose to work.

Clinton shut down the Gov. to balance a budget and was able to look at paying off the national debt. Why is there so much hatred for Bill Clinton?
Roonskii 2 years ago
Needless foreign intervention, growing the welfare state, cheating on his wife...just a few thoughts.
Johnybama 2 years ago
That sounds like the the republican presidential nominee john mccain, he lost the last election.
If your politics are based on national debt why is Clinton not more popular? You didn't answer the question.
Roonskii 2 years ago
I don't hate Clinton but I question some of his actions. Why is it that he was too valuable to be drafted, yet he didn't prohibit it when he became president? I am opposed to the draft, btw. Shutting down the government was a PR stunt so the media could go and interview all the federal workers who weren't getting paid and the country could all shed a collective tear.
steve0281 2 years ago
I am for the draft , size shit up real quick, as long as we don't recruit in high schools and junior highs, we should be providing an education, not selling war. Instead we support an indefinite war machine. Find a more effective budget within the last thirty years.
Roonskii 2 years ago
I look at it as involuntary servitude. You may note that that is unConstitutional.
steve0281 2 years ago
So is minimum wage, with no health benifits.
Roonskii 2 years ago
Do you make minimum wage? Most people do not.
steve0281 2 years ago
"So is minimum wage, with no health benifits."
O_o?!
Morrakiu 2 years ago
Minimum wage laws hurt the least skilled workers keeping them out of the job market. It also keeps workers back by being a disincentive to better themselves. No one should be satisfied with crappy floor sweeping or whatever. Minimum wage legislation destroys lives. Think outside the box and don't lap up what the establishment feeds you.
Minimum wage laws insure that business will have a mass of happy menials.
IntelligentiPauca 2 years ago 3
That comment about minimum wage seemed to be a reply to this:
"I look at it as involuntary servitude. You may note that that is unConstitutional."
Working for minimum wage is neither involuntary servitude nor unconstitutional, which prompts this:
"O_o?!"
Morrakiu 2 years ago 4
Thought you just said balance the budget. That would be funny, because first of all it was a Republican Congress and second of all they used the Social Security Trust Fund to do so. That's not balancing sorry, it's still a deficit.
luciusETRUR 2 years ago 3
So you support Al Gore's idea of a lock box on S.S. Social Security has been raided for war and tax breaks for those who profit from war and tax breaks. Are you one of those people, doubt it. quit voting against yourself or volunteer, there are plenty of soldiers that need a break.
Roonskii 2 years ago
I hate when people who say I vote against myself or my best interests as if they know what is best for me.
So you basically admit that SS is mainly a program to rake in more funds for the government to use and serves no real benefit to the people its support to help. If that is really what it is about lets just kill it.
purplecharger88 2 years ago 2
I don't hate Bill Clinton. However, I think something needs to be set straight here:
Clinton wasn't as great with the budget as people would like to believe.
The size of government did NOT shrink(it grew), but tax receipts went through the roof. Why? Because the Nasdaq bubble generated huge capital gains taxes. And that was a bubble, so Clinton's balanced budget wasn't on a sound foundation. It would have failed even without Bush.
Xasew 2 years ago
You should hate Bill Clinton because of his war crimes.
xxmonickkkkaxx 2 years ago
becuz clinton doctored numbers and events to make him look good, corruption was everywhere in his term, under clinton many nations were needlessly attacked or bullied for no interest of our own and yet he is seens as a great prez cuz the dow jones was going up at the time. therefore his presidenccy sucked.

Ron Paul shouldn't even be a Republican. The Republican party's old ways are long gone, and right now it's the party of dumb Christian conservatives who only care about antagonizing Democrats like the dumb little agents of primitive tribalism they are.
JerryRSun 2 years ago

RealArcalian 2 years ago
I would also argue the Democratic Party is the War Party.
Johnybama 2 years ago 6
Second that Johnybama
the largest war appropriations bill ever in American history was signed into law for 09-10 by Obama up 4% over W up troops by 21,000 and has expanded the failed war on terror to Pakistan since day two in office.
