  • damn war movies like this, windtalkers, saving private ryan, ect always make me cry at the end.

  • @IITHAT1GUYII that's war man!!!!!

  • A salute to all soldiers who have died for their country, for their family, for their brothers and sisters in arms...

To the lowliest soldiers on the ground, it doesn't matter if you're the good guy or bad guy in the world's eyes... it matters that you get your brothers out of there together.

If only all the war films hit home as hard as Black Hawk...

  • Every time this scene ends to the credits, I always stand up and salute. I don't know why but something inside me tells me to salute at the screen. I guess its something to remember and something to help hold back the tears.

Best war film of the decade. Ridley Scott you really deserve to have a goddamn award for this! :)

  • So sad

  • Rangers Lead the Way!!!!!!

  • 自業自得

    天網恢恢

    ってな感じ?

  • this letter means alot , i lost 3 of my friends in the war. May all marines RIP they are real heros

  • I feel sad not only because of how bad it went but the fact that they didn't note down the Malaysian force who were there too. We too lost a men in that conflict and the producers and directors did not put that down. That is truly sad for a person to be forgotten in a war

  • @zimsen88 The numbers I've heard as far as official Malaysian losses were 1 KIA and 7 WIA.

The Malaysian KIA, WIAs, and the Pakistani WIAs were all from the U.N. relief group I'm fairly certain. The film's focus was rather on the Americans who went in and not so much the U.N. evacuation/relief convoy that was sent in thereafter.

I -really- don't want to make this sound like an America-first bias because it isn't, but they were in the brunt of the fighting, and that's what this film portrayed

  • I just watched this movie last night and when i finished the movie at midnight i went to sleep in tears cause i just got home form hanging with two friends i really care about. They will all ways be my best friends i will do my best to make sure nothing will ever happen to them. That's a promise

  • :'(

  • This is an epic film - this last scene is just so sad though :(

I very rarely cry at films but this was heart wrenching. RIP to those 19 that died.

  • @mrcalarsenal Died a lot more than 19!!! In somalia died a lot of innocent people!

  • RIP the 19 Soldiers who died.

  • GREAT MOVIE!! can never get tired of this.

  • Some tend to forget that the 93' shootout is one of many embarrassing mishaps that gave lunatics like bin laden a reason to attack us on 9/11,But to me there is a big difference between being a "paper tiger" as he put it And being put at an unfair advantage.

  • @ridder6689 dumb ass

  • @xoe1988 No! im not numb nuts its the truth, the son of a bitch said so in an inteview in 1998 part of a documentary called "Frontline Ambush in mogadishu" its on youtube look for it,It surounds the events of what went down in somalia, interviews with the actual Rangers, and one of the militia gunmen who held Durant captive,Then watch another one called The true story of Black Hawk Down same thing exept with delta ops, mark bowden and durant on it,learn the Facts before calling someone a Dumbass.

  • The first to go, first to fight, first to die, last to complain.

    God bless

  • 4 terrorists didn't like this -.-...

  • "Still a Soldier on the field, still a Soldier when the Hanger closes."

  • i really dont understand how anyone could dislike this

  • My love, you are strong and you will do well in life, I love you and the children deeply. Today and tomorrow let each day grow and grow, keep smiling and never give up, even when things get you down. So in closing my love, tonight, tuck my children in bed warmly, tell them I love them...then...hug them for me...and give them both a kiss goodnight for daddy.

  • @guitarboose2 A hero is a hero. No matter what country he's from, cocksucker. France has had plenty of them, as has America. Think before you post some stupid comment next time.

  • "Givum both goodnight kiss for daddy"

  • i may just be a sap i don't know i have seen this movie a billion times and the ending still gets me and each time rather then weaken it hits me harder then the last.

  • I loved this film; though i have a question, since im so useless on names.

1:06, were Gary Gordon and Randy Shughart the two who landed at the second crash site, and fought to the death against hundreds of Somali citizens? Because, goddamn they deserved that medal.

  • @MrElegri yes, they were the two delta force operators who were killed defending the second crash site

  • @MrElegri u got the point

  • "Amore mio, tu sei forte, te la caverai bene nella vita. Amo profondamente te ed i miei bambini. Oggi e domani lasciate che ogni giorno spunti e splenda. • y do we even bother with africa its just a shithole of corruption, violence and civil unrest. Almost all the african nations are failing. The UN Should just morph the african nations into about 12 nations because 53 hellholes isn't working

  • @OG2958 bout time someone pointed out the obvious. very true. same thing with the middle east.

  • @OG2958 That doesn't mean you can just turn your backs on it all and ignore it. That's what the entire film is all about. Just because a task seems impossible doesn't mean you give up. That's what being a soldier was all about for my cousin. I see your point, but sometimes fighting the fight is all you can do to try and make things better.

  • @LunaWolf217 im not saying to just forget it simply reconstruct it because right now Africa is simply a clusterfuck of failing nations

  • @OG2958 I see your point, I agree with it too actually, but it's impossible to simply do that :/ one day in the future maybe, but not any time soon.

  • what are these type of letters called? when the soldier dies and has someone send them? cause im gonna have one of these if i die in combat

  • @leonidas231 These are called deathletters if i'm right..

  • This isn't Shuhart's letter.

He had just married ,and had planned to start a family after he returned home.

  • The soldier that read the letter was Master Sgt. Shughart, a marksman that was inserted to establish a perimeter around the Durat crash site.

  • @Musicking24

I thought it was Ruiz.. If its Shugart thats even better

  • R.I.P Soldiers

  • like i dont like war but we have to do it. i want to be a marine and follow my familys legacy, but when i saw this movie it brought tears to my eyes about the ppl who died for what was right. or some ppl that read this may say " that was not right", " we should never have war". it is what it is and we have to face that. i know im only 13 but i want to do what i think is right and may change the future. ps i know there were no marines in this movie it was all rangers and delta fource

  • @ozone1073 yo im joining the marine corps in a couple of years and i support ur dream to be in the corps. not a lot of ppl answer to the call of duty and do what is best for their god, family, and country. no matter what if anyone says war is the worst thing of all it is definitly right. its more fact than opinion and there are major consequences for war which most pay the ultimate price. but ur also right as long as humans are alive war will always be there weather u like it or not

  • @ozone1073 its what ur fighting for it all that matters

  • like i dont like war but we have to do it. i want to be a marine and follow my familys legacy, but when i saw this movie it brought tears to my eyes about the ppl who died for what was right. or some ppl that read this may say " that was not right", " we should never have war". it is what it is and we have to face that. i know im only 13 but i want to do what i think is right and may change the future. ps i know there were no marines in this movie it was all rangers and delta fource

  • @dimurik im sorry but no 1 cares about how you say this in Russian

  • the 4 ppl who disliked. you all should swallow a razor blade for us.

  • @kollcigz AMEN to that those shit holes should go die

  • Big letdown on this war was fucking clinton. hes too chicken shit to hold the line

  • @zgrillo2004 no not if in one battle their were over 70 wounded and 18 dead and Matt Rierson was killed in the hangar by mortar fire. and the somalians are all fucked up

  • I know it's a couple days late, but. THANK YOU VETERANS FOR RISKING YOUR LIVES FOR US. i REALLY APPERICATE IT AND MAY GOD WATCH OVER YOU. AND R.I.P. EVERY SOLDIER WHO HAS BEEN LAID TO REST. I THANK EVERY SOLDIER FROM THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION TO THE WARS BEING FOUGHT TODAY.

  • @eswain28 yeah :) God bless the troops dying for me and everyone else. We owe them so much

  • my point at the beginning was about not being an A-Hole about veterans. I don't care if you hated these movies I just talked about. You should still charish these men who died for their countries and should be honored. So nexty year when Veteran Day comes around you should say thanks to your soldiers fighting in a war

  • and "We Were Soldiers Once... And Young" it's about the first battle in the Vietnam War (Ia Drang) they were Amercan soldiers who got sent to Vietnam and got surrounded by Viet Congs, and a lot died as you guys should their is a monument of all the soldiers who died during Vietnam. In total their were 58,000 Americans who lost their lives during the Vietnam War. Another movie i know about is "Platoon", but i havent gotten that one yet...Next comment

  • I haven't started the book for we were soldiers but right now i am readin the book Black Hawk Down(it is really long). After im done with Black Hawk Down and also goin to read a book called "Bravo Two Zero" this book is about 9 british soldiers who got sent to Iraq in 1991 and they got compremised by the iraqians and their only way to get out was to go like 75 miles northeast or something and swim the Euphrates river. they did that, but only 5 came out... • Whoever dislikes this scene needs to go burn in hell. I mean seriously after I watched this whole movie I almost cried and I never cried to any other movie. Even Marley & Me or Radio or The Blind Side and those were some sad movies. Also I fell asleep to this music for at least 3 nights in a row and this movie should be named an instant classic. For everyone who liked this movie read the book. Also if you liked this movie watch the movie "We Were Soldiers Once...And Young"... Next comment

  • this is my all time favorite war depicting movie along with saving private ryan. ^_^

  • @chrissalyana09 "Saving Private Ryan" was sort of sad, but the saddest movies of all times are probably "The Blind Side", "Marley & Me", "Radio", "Band of Brothers", but this movie and "Band of Brothers" are the two most sad war movies out their and anything to me about the wars from Vietnam to todays wars are sad because I know a lot about those wars. I know a lot about WWII but its sad and WWI i am learin about in school right now and its when the first machine guns were bein used in warfare

  • @eswain28 also check out We Were Soldiers. so many sad scenes

  • @ihaveabigtv i have i pretty much have seen or am going to see every war movie from the Second World War to todays war

  • @eswain28 the war in Mogadishu was really have not seen those movies you stated but i'll try to look for them... ^_^.

  • @eswain28 Am surprised not to see "The Pacific" in that list, given its similarity to "Band of Brothers" yet a different reality for those who fought Japs compared to Nazis. Both are powerful and great miniseries'.

Also want to point, out the first working machine gun was the Gatling Gun and it was actually used towards the end of the American Civil War (my most studied war). There were not many produced though, at that time. WWI saw the first mass use of machine guns used with better effect.

  • I saw the movie, and everything its the same in real to there...made me sad

  • @Hourya1 ya Somali is a fucked up place

  • ridley scott said in an interview to an australian tv channel that he didn't know who wrote the letter, but that it was found as the soldier's were about to leave somalia.

  • not gonna cry, not gonna cry.....damn it! every time

  • This is one of the greatest movies ever. RIP each man who died for their country. This movie really touched me heart. You men will never be forgotten. And the person reading this is Sergent Lorenzo Ruiz. And Michael Durant was probably my favorite character in this movie.

  • @eswain29 Wrong its Randy Shugart, its from the letter he leaves in the beggining.

  • @TheSwedishPatriot no because in the book Lorenzo Ruiz and another dude write letters to their wives and children

  • @eswain28 Yes but this is the movie and ive checked it out on the internet on BHD tags

  • @TheSwedishPatriot i know it is the movie to the greatest book out their and it is and will always be the best book and movie to ever be made.

  • This movie was great no doubt about it. And RIP all the men who died for their country. This touched my heart I now want to go to Somali and kill each militia

  • This movie was great no doubt about it. And RIP all the men who died for their country

  • RIP Donovan Briley... Hero from North Little Rock Arkansas

  • god bless every soldier in that conflict.. and every conflict.. god bless

  • @blambo45 does it matter?

  • best war movie ending scene. the soldier reading his letter to his wife and kids brought tears to my eyes

  • @abighairywoman what soldier said this?

  • @leonidas231 i have no clue who said it dude i looked on the internet for a while and i couldn't find any real facts on it. i really wanna no tho

  • @leonidas231 Sgt. Gary Gordon. One of the two delta snipers who went to the crash site to hold off the somalis

  • @abighairywoman dude.. u are the man!

  • god fuckin dam stops me in my tracks every time

  • Very moving .

  • Ho-AHH

  • great job guys i am leaving to go into the military after i graduate my high school year. so good luck to all of you soldiers out there..

  • it wasnt there war but its there job

and they r the only americans im proud of

  • They died for a bunch of sand monkeys. What a waste of human life.

  • The 2 delta snipers who saved the pilot got the medal of honor they deserve it

  • @r3sp3ctdaf3mal3s this and Gladiator

  • Who are the 4 S.O.B who disliked this video? =O

  • Really sad but true ending to a great film. These men put on a uniform and run in the direction of bullets and danger so that the people of home can sleep at night and they don't ask for sympathy or pity, they just accept their jobs and serve. GOD BLESS THE ARMED FORCES. Dad was a Ranger, I'll never be one but I feel how he feels.

  • I dont understand why the film says Lorenzo Ruiz survives but he died in real life.... anyone explain please?

  • @Hammerschool

It doesnt, hes listed 4th from the bottom on this scene. When Capt.Steel walks up to where Ruiz is, the doctor looks at him and shakes his head indicating hes not going to make it. It appears the doctors told Ruiz he would be fine to comfort him.

  • Huh8469 u are rigth is verry deeply great movie great end

  • This is probibally one of the most moving speeches i have ever herd. It reminds me of the girl I love and the soldiers in iraq.

  • Keep smiling and never give up, even when things get you down..... Love it..

  • Hecka sad.

  • this could have been avoided if the us had told the UN forces cos theyd have had heavier support this is why the US should operate by its self so the UN doesnt fuck it up and make have to pull low key operations

  • what bothers me about the real event is that clinton is a fucking pussy by withdrawing them back. we should have just kept fighting until we succeed. That is the true American way

  • @zgrillo2004 you want to tell that to the wives and children of these men?

  • @TheDeniedhopedrummer We have been running away from these wars instead of winning. I mean all of the countries mock us now because we run away. they call us "pussies". I am a patriotic man and where there is a war we STAY there and fight to defend the country and the world

  • i thought Lorenzo Ruiz survived at the end of the movie

  • @MrDar130 at the end, the docs look at the captain and nod their heads meaning he's not gona make it

  • I dont know about everyone else but this almost brings me to tears everytime i watch it and i reply atleast 5 times

  • @Cjgroom1RS Oh i replay it at least 20 times whenever I get on my computer.

  • @Cjgroom1RS yeah, lol i'm the same, the ending was perfect, God save our troops!

  • @Cjgroom1RS i cried watching this part

  • @CrazyHermit me too

  • Me to

  • My love you are strong and will do well in life

I love you and my chidlren deeply

today and tomorrow let each day grow and grow

    so encloseing my love

tonight tuck my children in bed warmly, tell them i love them

and hug them for me and give them both a kiss for daddy

  • It's fascinating to me how the most haunting scene in this movie is when the credits start to roll.

  • not trying to sound like a girl or anything but my dad is in the marines and everytime i was this part in the movie i like almost cry cuz it could happen to anyone in the military

  • @DDPskatr18 takes a true man to cry especially when it comes to war. and hes your dad. of course youd feel like crying. i would do the same thing.

  • this is deff the best war movie ever

so much better than hurt locker

    ...which sucked hairy balls

  • i read somewhere that the actor who reads this, found it very hard to do so, u can hear it in his voice at the end...this makes the ending very moving

  • RANGERS LEAD THE WAY

  • I have great respect for the army...rangers lead the way
