  • Nice work!

  • Stand up 4 your RIGHTS Americans.~ The REPUBLICANS have been FOOLING YOU for the last 30 yrs. SOCIAL SECURITY*, (SS) , is NOT an entitlement! SS HAS A $2.6 TRILLION SURPLUS.SS CAN pay every claim at least until 2030.~ SS DOES NOT increase the federal budget by one cent! Tell the REPUBLICAN GANGSTERS & THEIR WALLSTREET BANDIT FRIENDS that you will FIGHT any PRIVATIZATION OF your SS pension.~You will FIGHT ANY REDUCTION IN BENEFITS. YOU will FIGHT any change in AGE REQUIREMENT FOR SS BENEFITS!

  • "The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness."

  • 1913 Wilson sold out to the private banksters. They funded WWI brought on the depression of 1929 by controlling the financial sector. This let way for the introduction of the Federal Reserve and Social Security. They then funded WWII that introduced Israel and the UN along with Rules of War. Over the next 50 years by use of every country's intelligence agencies they funded wars across the world using the US as the policing agents. They set up 911 and introduced their new laws across the world...

  • Should Goods and Services (i.e. Social Security) be offered at the barrel of a gun?

  • Social Security was not meant as a retirement program. That is what it has become. People are living beyond their means. They are spending for what they want and what they need. Social security is broken. It is a ponzi scheme. Now the baby boomers are getting to retirement age and how many will pay into social security so their can be benefitted. There is a lot of waste in government and this program was not well thought out.

  • Social Security is the biggest Ponzi scheme in the history of mankind! SS makes Bernie Madoff look like an ice cream sprinkle.

  • Only your generation would call what Bernie Madoff did "business" and Social Security a "Ponzi Scheme"

  • 1.Bernie Madoff is a crook. 2. SS is a ponzi scheme. How so? To put it simply, our mothers and fathers put money into SS. Government takes that money, mismanages it, like they do with everything they stick their noses in, they spend it in areas where it was never intended. Our mothers and fathers then retire. The money they put into SS isn't there anymore. To pay their SS, the government takes your and my money and robs Peter to pay Paul. The cycle then continues toward eventual failure.

  • Just like all other Ponzi schemes, SS will fail. It can't work. The only way something SS can continue is to steal more and more through taxation. P.S. what do you mean by "my generation?" You're only a few years older than me. LOL

  • How old do you think I am?

No, you don't have to steal more and more through taxation, you just need to increase the productivity and thus wage of all American workers.

It's a percentage based tax. Theirfore the more you make, the more that the system can collect.

Maybe we need to start paying Union Wages and building stuff here again instead of hiring it out to the Chinese and letting Wall-Street and Foreign Investors reap the difference?

  • It hasn't failed yet and is not on a trajectory to be revenue neutral until 2050.

This is due to the increased lifespans thanks to better medical care.

Not because the now 75 year old program is mismanaged.

Maybe you would have been better off giving your money to Lehman Brothers? It would have been safer there than in SS.

    Right?

  • @patrickj...wait till they (gov't) gets ahold of Healthcare.

  • Yeah, and too flanksteak2. Your argument is so flawed, I don't even know where to restart this. "increase the wage of the American worker" This is will only raise unemployment in businesses large and small alike, because they will have less money to pay all of their employees and will be forced to make lay offs, making even more people dependent on the government.

  • @chetohimler, the government is already involved too much as it is. If people were allowed to save the money that gets stolen from them by the government, through Medicare, SS, and taxes used to maintain a global empire, we would be able save our money and wouldn't even need insurance. With this, we would also see huge drops in the cost of health care. There would be competition to lower the price of expensive procedures. Lasik is a perfect example of this, for it is not covered by insurance.

  • @patrickj...I've got no quarrel with that. The Gov't is too big, and getting bigger. Pretty soon we'll have "death to old clunkers".

  • haha, I know you're on my side. I just like ranting.

  • Social Security is Universal Health Care.

  • There was an old SS political pitch type clip I heard that was explaining that SS would be no higher than 3% and that it would be self sufficient in 6 years etc. IAnybody know where that one is?

  • Yea, it will be around. We'll just borrow the money from China. That's if they'll still lend us money.

  • Thanks for posting, I enjoyed that. I happen to think it's the government's responsibility to take care of people. This was a nice, easy to understand telling of an interesting period in history. Thanks!

  • david walker- former comptroler general of the GAO. look him up

  • Social security, a scam.

  • Don't you think people are capable of saving their own money for when they get old, rather than have the government save it for them?

Social security is nothing but a ponzi scheme and I when you are old enough to need it, it won't exist anymore.

When the babyboomers retire, the system will be overwelmed.

  • By 2017 they will begin to have trouble making payments. This comes from government statistics that I researched for a college course I was taking. If they think people are pissed off about government sponsored health care wait till the Baby Boomers checks don't show up.

  • @jjenson2006

I'M GONNA RIP YA FUCKEN FACE OFF AND SMASH YA FUCKEN BRAINS IN!!!

  • @Hammersley1967

My my, such confidence....I'm sure you wouldn't make such a statement when you're standing in front of me.

People who make annonymous threats on the internet are usually cowards and pussies that got beat up and bullied in high school. They have very low self-esteem because they think that people who are tough are superior to them and so they try to act tough while hiding behond an annonymous screen name to prevent retaliation.

  • @jjenson2006

I AM GONNA RIP YOUR FUCKEN TITS OFF AND SHOVE THEM UP YOUR FUCKEN ARSE!!!

  • @Hammersley1967

Ah, Australian! If you're ever in the states, throw me a message and let me know where you are so I can give you the opportunity to try it.

What am I saying? You haven't got the balls to meet me face to face.

  • @jjenson2006

If you could see the size of my big muscles, you would be on your kneeling before me - screaming in terror and begging for mercy like a frightened little school girl...

    BAHAHAHAHAHAHJAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

  • @Hammersley1967

Is that what you would do if you were threatened by someone much bigger than you?

Why do you assume that I am not a big guy?

Why do you assume that your skull is impervious to a 9mm slug or a baseball bat?

You seriously need to get a life before you say these things to the wrong person.

Perhaps your mother should ground you before you get yourself seriously injored or killed; no internet for a month!

  • @jjenson2006

    Hey!!! That's not nice!

    Now you've hurt my feelings...

    I thought we were friends...

  • and bob dylan :P

  • titanic theme

  • damn you must be one benefiting from this social security

  • Social Security is a scourge upon the land. It is nothing more than a colossal Ponzi scheme foisted upon America. It's collapse is imminent - and when it collapses, where are they going to get the money to "bail it out"?!

  • thanks man i dont need to study that chapter for my final anymore

  • GOOD JOB

    - jack burn

  • SS is a miserable system that takes in trillions and pays out peanuts to receipiants. My mom gets $1,100 per month. Her rent is $650 per month. That leaves $450 for utilities, food, and basic necessity. Now look at how Clinton raided the fund instead of increasing benefits, he used the program on other government spending. FAIL!

  • Good job on the video (:

  • Social Security is a joke. The idea is that instead of you willingly giving to those in need, the Government takes your money and then decides where They think it should go. Here's the big scam. If you save for yourself for retirement you put your money in a fund that you cannot touch till you retire, however the Social Security "Trust Funds" have NO MONEY in them, NONE. The government takes all the capital from these funds and has to BORROW to pay off obligations to retirees, ITS ALL A SCAM

  • There are problems with how it works yes, but the idea is a noble one. After education, serve your country through work, then enjoy your golden years with a guaranteed retirement. Social Security was not joke to my Grandmother, who had eight children and a tough life in the 1930s depression, WWII etc. or for my Granddad who served in Pattons army. The privatization, free market/trade crowd is show their true colors all the time - so unAmerican.

  • So unAmerican? are you serious? What is "American" about an $11 trillion debt? What is "American" about the govt buying private banks? What is "American" about borrowing money from China for stimulus packages? Don't talk to me about being unAmerican when you can't see the bullshit right in front of your eyes. Yes, your grandparents may have benefited, no question, but at what price? Back then there was 18:1 ratio of payers to recipients, now its down to 3:1... the truth is we are broke, Wake Up

  • "but the idea is a noble one"

That's what they say about communism. But with such results as Social Security and Soviet Russia, how can you call it noble?

  • I like how Roosevelt speaks without confidence in his social security plan

  • hmm...back then their money was worth more than it is now....

you support an ENTIRE family with just your dad working. lol, what about now? both parents work and you barely scrap by

  • Nobody forces you into Social Security.

Want to get out, quit your job.

Than you will be asking for unemployment benefits, which ironicaly is a form of Social Security.

Win the lottery and move offshore.

    So many options.

You are also forced to wear a setbelt while driving. It may save your life, choose not to you will likely be killed in a crash.

  • You don't get unemployment benefits if you quit.

  • The creator of this video fails to understand the real Causes/Motives of the Depression. The orator in this video "One of our greatest institutions" Are you kidding me? Buddy, Remember this -the government put'ith in place..the government can taketh away from place. This video is a disservice.

  • You would never say Social Security is bad to your Grandfathers face.

  • A little tid bit of info here Social Security when passed was to be paid out when you reach 65 well when it was passed the avg life expectancy was 58 for men 62 for women in other words it was never meant to be paid out it was only a way to tax you and make you feel good and get more revenue for the make work projects

  • You forget that even today life expectancy is still low compared to what years people are actually living. Life expectancy is a term used by Health Insurance companies (the real scam artist). The worker programs were created when the Feds started to put people back to work, thus they were able to print more money to put back in the economy. Doing what Hoover did just sit back and hope everything works out is Bullshit!

One more thing, my Great-Grandparents lived into their 90's.

  • "If you're in the luckiest 1 per cent of humanity, you owe it to the rest of humanity to think about the other 99 per cent."

    -- Warren Buffett

  • A little tid bit of info here Social Security when passed was to be paid out when you reach 65 well when it was passed the avg life expectancy was 58 for men 62 for women in other words it was never meant to be paid out it was only a way to tax you and make you feel good and get more revenue for the make work projects

  • So, you're upset that people aren't dying by 65?

  • did you really read what was written and think about it ???? i have a feeling you didnt . The point was that Social Security was NEVER meant to be paid out the Govt was betting we all would be dead before they had to pay it out . read slowly this time

  • No. I read you right. Youre accusing FDR of trying to pull a scam, which means you're full of shit.

  • LOL figures

  • Hey Joe, If you're 34, then Jack must be your teenage kid. I'm sorry to have to say this to both of you, especially to just a kid, but you're both way misinformed. You should listen to your viewers like neothomist1275 and Freedom2Learn. Whereas they are speaking the truth about Social Security. While you and your son I apologize to say are sadly nothing more than brainwashed propagand parrots.

  • Not toiling away in a Poorhouse like a slave?

Kids not carried off to an orphanage?

    THANK FDR!

  • Social Security is a pyramid scheme. If you or I as an individual came up with an investment system like Social Security, we would go to jail. Yet we are forced to join the Federal Social Security pyramid scheme by law.

Calling the SSA a "triumph of legislation" only proves the addage, "Government is best which governs LEAST." (emphasis mine)

  • Hello Fred, While you are indeed an educated young man of only 26, and as a Libertarian therefore way more informed than either Joe or Jack Cashman, you are nevertheless wrong about being forced to join Social Security by law. Wherefore, "The Social Security Act does not require a person to have an SSN to live and work in the United States, nor does it require a number simply for the purpose of having one". Charles H. Mullen: Associate Commissioner SSA 1998.

  • You mean I can drop out of Social Security entirely? I can stop paying my payroll taxes? Tell me more! I want my money back!

In theory, you may be right. In practice, it is a forced retirement system.

  • Fred, I hear and empathize with what you're saying. But it's not theory. It's fact. But I'm not telling you to do anything. However, while I agree there is a concerted effort to subjugate us all by threat of force, knowledge dispels fear. And I for one won't be bullied anymore into volunteering for something I'm not lawfully liable for.

  • One more thing Fred that you and everyone should know. While they may call it an "insurance" contribution, it is not a "retirement" fund that you are building for yourself. Whereas the workers of today pay for the retirees of today. And the workers of the future will be paying for your future retirement. And I for one will not subject my future posterity to have to pay for my future retirement.

  • That I know, and I agree. That's why I want out of the system! I am not responsible for the welfare of others; I am only responsible to not cause harm to them.

  • elwood. glad to know that you can see socialist security for what it really is. don't ever let the government make you believe they have the right to take from you what is rightfully yours. socialist security is like all these other federal programs in which we are forced to give up freedom and liberty for the false promise of security.

  • Good job on the presentation. Here is a challenge: What was the real reason for the Great Depression? Hint: Federal Reserve Bank

Could the Great Depression have been prevented? Was it done on purpose? If so, why?

  • Q: If me and my parents were born in America why am I not a US citizen?

  • A: I am not a US citizen. You think I should have an unquestioned right to travel to US and live and work there?

  • I am an American and a citizen of the country of Massachusetts (where I was born). I am not a "citizen" (franchisee) of the corporation called the United States because I am not in adhesion contract with it (e.g. Social Security).

  • omg

  • Good Day Mate, You are certainly welcome to come to America. However if I were you, I would ask Congress to grant you State Citizenship (of the State you intended to live in) under A.1, S.8, C.4, and not request U.S. citizenship under the 14th Amendment. Whereas you would be free and "sovereign" under the former and a mere "subject" (i.e. slave) in a condition of voluntary servitude under the latter.

  • let me bring a Shovel for this blaten @$#$&* you feeding me ok back to the issue on the social security act

  • wow is right...that song makes me cry and this is a great vid! good job
