You didn't mention another recent nerf that the blutsauger now takes -2+/sec off the wearer... so carrying the blutsauger makes you heal slower than if you carried the needle gun. This is why I assumed they changed the heal rate, to "balance" the blutz with the needle gun. Before everyone rolled blutz because it was clearly the better choice, but now they both have unique pros/cons.

indeed they do, but in a combat situation the blutsauger is still better. It's reasonable to assume you'll be taking enough damage frequently enough (keep in mind, this is if you're in a "jam") to keep your regen rate at its lowest. With needlegun, your max will be 3HP a second. With blutsauger, it'll be 1HP a second in addition to each needle that hits, which will each give you +3HP. If you get just 1 hit out of the 10 per second, you'll have +4HP per second; better than needle.

btw, because of the update, if you have the syringe gun, your healing rate will be the same as explained here, but if you have the blutsauger it will be the lower regen rate as explained before because the blutsauger gives you more survivability.

i find blutsauger way more effective than the regular syringe gun.

most of the time, im focused on keeping others alive, if i need health then i just attack!

the blutsauger is one of the easiest weapons in the game to aim. it arcs, has a huge clip, shoots fast, and because of the medics speed it is easy to run circles around a lot of the classes like a scout or a pyro would do. i have not equipped the normal syringe gun since i got blutsauger.

this is the reason i dont use blutsauger anymore. in most dangerous situations a medic would be better off falling bk to recover his hp and use the needlegun to ward off enemies. blutsauger is only beneficial when in combat with an enemy which ironically medics should always avoid.

If you aren't a battle medic, you should use the syringe gun to have more time healing your patients. If you are a battle medic or your team sucks, both guns are viable options.

As for the question at the end of the video:

The Syringe Gun facilitates staying with your teammates even when injured, allowing them continuing support despite your injury as it will likely not last long, with good dodging.

The blutsauger, however, offers more survivability if left alone with no one to heal, which can happen on an inadvisable push.

Maybe this is why they changed the regen rate? Now the blutsauger is more of a sidegrade than an upgrade.

I still use it from time to time, it's particularly useful when enemies are singling you out, helps escapes and keeps you alive while running away from pyros.

The disadvantage is occasionally having to go find a health pack instead of just waiting for the regen after getting hit, leaving your friends alone without healing temporarily.

A wild guess here:

There are only 2 classes without "Meet The" videos: Medic, and Pyro. If medic gets more survivability, then someone gets more killability. It could be a pyro.

But then, both pyro and medic got their updates and unlockables. Soldiers and demomen have no unlockables yet, so, it could be them aswell, and they're actually the ones capable of most burst damage.

We can only guess. Me, I think whatever Valve does will keep the game fun in a few more ways.

I don't think this changes things as much as some people imply. The things that kill medic are burst damage - lots of damage at once. The extra 2 hp per second doesn't change things dramatically if it's rockets or a scattergun that's cutting a medic down.

It does let medics bounce back faster when retreating, though.

I personally fear medics from time to time, some of them won't tolerate you killing their healing target, such as myself. I've had a couple times where I've pushed a team back after they killed my heavy, by needling and ubersawing a few of them and literally running in for the kill. Though, yes, i know that's not how medic should be played. Most people don't know just how dangerous a medic can be, certainly if he can aim.
