There was no 'master plan' among the beverage-consuming attendees (if that's what you mean by hippies). Individuals showed up from around the state drinking whatever pleased them.
You should have told the guy you would interview him next and done an interview. I know I would have been interested in why he feels the way he does.
It would have been good for the movement to examine what people think about them. It could help change the way we approach things in the future to turn people to our side instead of turning them into this guy.
