My cat fetches as well, he loves chasing after toy mice. His favorite place to do this is the hallway, because he likes me to throw it where it bounces off the walls and changes directions several times. I think he uses it as practice to follow a moving target that doesn't go in a straight line.

He's also very methodic about it and gets upset if you don't play the game the right way with him. You have to ask him twice if he's 'ready' and wait for the meow, then say 'Fetch!' and throw it ^_^
