@EpicMw2Genious Yes, no welding was needed. The only thing is you have to cut the stock pipe (I used my dad's Tiger Saw) to remove the old exhaust pipe.
@Sherrod103 What exactly do you mean by complete set? It is the entire exhaust up to the catalytic converter. I love the exhaust. I've had it for probably almost 5 years now.
no your 2.0 wont sound the same vr's get there sound from the engine not the exhaust pipes. 9k isnt bad for a jetta if its a nice package or if its what you want. mine was 12k and it was base package hubcaps, cloth interior all that and im slowly making it completely custom so its all in what you want. and vw only makes one awd car and that is the .:R32 a 3.2 liter 24 valve VR6, with 238 hp and 235 tq.
im reviving my Golf GTI VR6 12V with magnaflow, yes, you are proud to have it! changing timing chains for longer life! With a new transaxle! lol I need to hear it again wtf!
I have a technical question how is this whole exhaust systen configured from the engine back,I want my car to sound as close to that as possible, please get back.
@KJBPSkipper VR6's are duals from the downpipe but then it converts to a single pipe at the cat becuase you cannot run true duals the gas tank is in the way.
Incorrect. All 12V were 2002 and prior. 24V started in 2003; I know because my parents have one. My 2000 VR6 12V has the monsoon system, cold weather pkg, and leather seats...therefore it is a GLX.
believe me when I say you can get the same sound result maybe better if you just remove the resonator and leave the OEM muffler and no catalytic. Sounds even better than a 350Z. BTW, I got my Magnaflow kit (muffler & catalytic) for $200
fuckk i wanted a vr6 but after researching VW are plagued with problems... plastic shit breaking interior like for the glove compartment, rear cup holder, sunroof trim, springs in the seats falling down, engine fuckin up i.e. water pump, timing belt, windows falling into the door itself. window motors not working, rear brakes, grease comin out of the door nonstop and then electrical crap too...... notorious in 99-2003.....models FUCK!!!
@Abercrombemonkey I have a 99.5 GLS VR, my family has owned a '91, '92 Jetta, 2000 GLX VR, two '03 Golfs. Also a '04, '05 & '07 Golf/Rabbit. My 99.5 dropped the seat springs after 7 years, I didn't know until I cleaned the car for the spring since it has almost no effect unless you adjust your seat multiple times a day. I broke my glove comp. due to stupidity. Otherwise all have operated flawlessly and the '03 Golf kept my sister safe and sound VS. a Landrover and concrete tree planter.
do you know the power gains from this catback exhaust? I dont know much about VW's.. I drove a 2000 honda prelude and most catbacks for my car gained like 6-10hp..LMAO..
Shop around and test drive the car. I got my 2000 GLX VR6 (cold weather pkg, manual, leather, monsoon system) with 74,000 miles for $6400. This was back in 2004. That was definitely a good deal I got! It's still running now with 181,000 miles to date.
@pilotboy17 Yeah that is a good deal. My best friend got a 1.8t with 104K on it for $7,000, I was really thinking she should've shopped around more. Now doesn't want a stick shift and so she's selling it to me for $2,000, THAT'S a good deal XD
ok thats the question of taste but i live in germany and everyone drives a vw in germany. that is boring and there is nothing special in the vw-design its just a . . . car.i wound say that here in germany there are vw's dude they look like a stupid box the older ones of course like golf mk2 or polo in the time where that vw's appeard the japanese design where much better fresher and cleaner. anyway everybody has his own taste
2 jettas came with the VR6 engine, the GLS and the GLX. GLX has more options like leather seats, heated seats, climatronic, Memory options for the seats, rear sunshade, wood trim, etc. These cars have the 12 valve VR6 and 174 hp. Later on (2003-2004), GLIs came with a newer 24 valve VR6 engine and 200hp. They were mated to either a 6 six speed manual transmition or a 5 speed tiptronic. (Early GLS and GLXs had a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed automatic.)
uhhhh the two models that have the six cylinder vr6 is the vr6 and the glx? that makes no since pilotboy..to correct you the two models that have the vr6 engine is the glx and the gli.
no he's right actually. The vr6 packages are GLX (more options such as heated seats and climatronic) and the GLS is just less options. But you are right too. The GLI came in a VR6 engine too.
Yes. There are two models that have the six cylinder VR6....the VR6 and the GLX. The GLX is the VR6 but I believe with more options. My GLX has cold weather package, automatic seats, etc. The plain old VR6 probably doesn't.
GLX is the way to go, on the newer models it was the GLI that had the vr6 because i beleive they quit making the GLX in about 2003?? dont quote me. maybe people should just wikipedia this one :) also heres my question! is this a actual bought from magnaflow exhaust? and why didnt you opt to cut out the rear valence.
Originally I got the Magnaflow for without cutout; big mistake. You do not need to cut the valence, however, it looks horrible because it hangs a few inches below the valence. I suggest you buy the straight pipe for the one for cutout, and use a dremel to cutout yourself. I got lucky and found someone who was just selling the straight ending exhaust pipe from his exhaust (his car was involved in some fire, but exhaust was still ok).
It is 2.25". I would have rather gotten 2.5" but Magnaflow doesn't have that I think for this car. And no, I never got pulled over by police for anything aftermarket in my car.
hey man sounds great. did you install this yourself? I am looking into getting a VR6 jetta myself, and was looking for aftermarket exhausts. after watching this vid im guessing Magnaflow is the way to go
hey on this exhaust is this the 2.25 by magnaflow? i was seriously thinking about going with techtonics 2.5 with either a borla or flowmaster exhaust, perferably a borla.
How much did that exhaust system cost you??? This is the only engine ive ever seen with 1 cam and only 12 valvs that puts out so much hp/liter. CLUB VDUB
No, its based off of the number of cylinder heads.. since there is only one.. its DOHC... do you even own a vr6.. look up the facts before you open your mouth.. it says DOHC in the owners manual.. and in repair manuals.. fucking idiot..
