At one point boxxy was considered by many OK, until it had reached a point where every thread on the whole front page was nothing but boxxy, I think at that point it simply became too much for a lot of anons and then the shit started to hit the proverbial fan, not that it wasn't doing that already but it just went into high gear.
be a man and speak up. There was no higher goal, there was a bunch of d-bags who were just bored, go to.... well, I can't tell you where to go to talk to anon's. We are not fighting for a cause, not as a whole at least. For the most part we are just keeping ourselves entertained. Changing the world is just a side effect.
there is no cohesion between anons. so there is no higher goal. there is no contingent called anon. call anon legion, cause they are many. but: anon is not a person. anon is not a destination. anon is not a volition. anon is not a religion, nor a cult, nor people who share the same believes. in fact: there is no "anon". there are people, who declare themself to be anon. anon is not a believe. anon is not a internethatemachine. anon is random. no logic, no moral, no higher goal.
If popularity never hurts anyone, then why am I in therapy? Because the need to be popular drives assholes to beat on people like you, me, and moot. Honestly, face it. You are all posters on 4chan because you have nothing else to do on a Friday night except fap to furry porn and look at random videos on youtube, and thats how Boxxy was found in the first place. Shit makes me BAWW every night. :(
could it possibly be the Church of Scientology doing random things in their desperate attempt to discredit anonymous? Since I've been following this war against The "Cult" of Scientology I have seen these people do some preeetty underhanded things so the truth about their CULT will not go public. It looks like a tactic they would use, random hackings to anyone who is NOT in their CULT.
I also now understand that just because one member did something it does not mean anyone else knew about it or even condoned it. That is a good and a bad thing. let me explain both. It is good because not working as a group essentially means you do not take blame across all levels of actions as a group. thats is a huge tactical advantage. It however can be negative, because when a group has a single name it is still treated and viewed as a single being. That is why the public is paranoid.
Brainspiller89 has the most basic answer, but let's elaborate a bit.
Anonymous has many faces, and to claim it collaborates on anything is not completely accurate. Subsections of the ludicrously sized community do different things for different reasons. Some perform acts simply because they are able, and anything done en masse has a sort of poetic beauty to it. Some members of anonymous know the powderkeg they sit on, and can trigger it towards any end they wish.
How, may I ask, is it fun to dismember one's amendment. Anonymous OFTEN cites that they are against violations of freedom of speech and violations of the first amendment which covers more than just basic speech rights. To go after people who do nothing at all, is ludicrous, childish, and slanderous to your own beliefs. For the lulz? are all of your answers going to be dead ends that lead to nothing but an elaborate riddle in which no answer is contained?
You'd have to ask those responsible. Though anonymous is one, it is also legion. We don't have a collective hivemind. Asking us why we did it is like asking a 18 year old why we went to Vietnam. The entire point of anonymous is that we are, in fact, anonymous. Nobody knows the specific individuals involved, because they were anonymous when they did so. If you want to know how doing something atrocious can be funny to some, take some psych classes. It's not a trait unique to anonymous.
Good point, many Anon members are sociopaths indeed, and sadists as well. Now though, I see that there is a half. I have a friend who is an Anon. The way he put it is half of you guys are awesome and the other half can go "off themselves". I agree with that. I consider anyone doing anything for the lulz to be not Anonymous, but simply parasites who are going along for the ride. I get it now.
Anonymous is manyfold. Saying that one portion is greater or lesser than another portion of anonymous defeats the function of the Legion. Anonymous has been controlled by no less than five factions in the past four years, each with a different agenda. At this moment, no one is truly dominant, and the remnants of each are just sort of hanging about. Many miss the glory days when Anonymous was a feared name, whispered by those few who knew what it was that hit them, so they cause chaos.
An open letter to everyone in existence... what?
