Well done, great footage especially the kestral feeding.Just a shame about the picture quality, but that is a problem most of us have.Keep up the good work, and good luck.
Kestal's are amazing little falcons. I've kept a few to hunt with. They are highly successful on doves.
Crows, family Corvidea, Genus Corvus are highly intelligent, and can be quite aggressive. Omnivores, they will eat a wide variety of foods. Being largely opportunistic, they scavenge or rob for food.A large mob of crows can force many birds of prey off a kill. Song birds they are not.
Very nice footage of the Kestral. However, being in the avian field, for over 15yrs now that was one lucky little birdie. With the sheer number of Crows mobbing it, they could have done some SERIOUS damage to that little bird of prey. I've yet to post some video footage, that i caught of 2 American Crows not only mobbing, but KILLING a Kestral!!! It was one of THE MOST shocking pieces of footage i caught on tape. All that said, Crows & Ravens are HIGHLY miscatergorized sometimes as "songbirds".
Good comments. :) I agree with you on these statements but I think you might be getting songbirds and perching birds confused. Crows and ravens are the largest of the "perching" birds, I don't think they are considered "song birds". Anyway, I love birds too and other things you like. ;-)
Good comments and I agree with you mostly. :) I think you might be getting confused however about crows & ravens being considered "song birds", they are "perching birds" and the largest in the family. :) I've always liked birds too and I like other things you like as well. ;)
Normally crows don't trouble kestrels-but kestrels will attack any crow flying through its' territory especially during the nesting season. that must be a young kestrel in that cage and it is begging for food by way of its' wings flapping like that.

Last week I watched a Crow chase off a Buzzard.
Although Crows are not birds of prey, they are well equipped.
