I remember hearing that when they opened the first Taco Bell in Mexico City, they had to put up descriptions of what each item was because Mexicans had bo idea what the stuff was. They had nothing like it, really. Sure, tortillas, beans, some meat, salsas of some sorts. But yellow melty cheese? Lettuce?

@HGbunny Really? Obviously I knew that Taco Bell did not represent authentic Mexican food, but I am surprised lettuce isn't traditionally on tacos. Lettuce and tomato are so good. The cold, crunchy vegetables balance out the hot, fatty greasy meat.
