  • the triop that is deformed is not deformed. you have there is a male triop. very rare than the rest. the ones with their shell pointed up are females.

  • thos r fairy shrimp

  • @plasmaweed it may be her dad, or her brother, don't be a douche

  • the mom sounds like a dyke

  • @plasmaweed the mom? thats a guy behind the camera

  • ?sea monkeys are salt water and Triops are fresh whats going on?

  • can you clean their water??

  • This was a great video! My daughter is all about little creatures that are different. She loves spiders and zombies. She just got this for Christmas and I tried (failed miserably) to help her set up the tank/aquarium but I guess the temp wasn't "perfect" so the eggs never spawned. This video was very informative for my 5yr old and I, so thank you so much for posting this. I got a little irritated with some people's previous comments and their ignorance. You guys did a GREAT job and I would hop

  • those dots you see of are actually called, "Daphnia" which are like water larvae? i guess. i had two of these in my tank which could also be food for the triops.

  • i love this video! thanks for all the tips. i have failed my first time. i poured all the eggs at the same time, when the instructions say 1/2

  • the other species are fairy shrimp they sometimes come in the bag but live for 2 weeks well not as long as triops

  • They're eggs are actually just about microscopic. You can collect them by drying out the substrate the triops lived with then rehydrating it. (preferably after cooling them off in your refrigerator )

  • I hate when people say aquasaurs or billabong bugs, or whatever. Also the specks with antennae are dahpina and those are good food but their population doesn't last long....

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH JUST SAY TRIOPS ONCE!!!!!!!!

  • triops

  • how do you get them to li8ve everytime i try to have some they never grow

  • @TheHuntingPals Another excellent question, thp! Ours did not work the first few times. We found the KEY is to use as clean of water as possible (spring water is good), and if it's sink water - let the container sit for several days before putting eggs in. God knows why on earth that would be important?! This is true for fish aquariums as well. The water must sit and "distill" - that not only lets minerals fall to the bottom, but also the temperature MUST be right, ie: room temperature.

  • how old was ur triops when she was laying eggs?

How did u collect ur eggs?

Do u just have to dry the eggs and then place it in the water again?

  • @won0312 These are excellent questions. I unfortunately have to tell you that no actual eggs were collected. When you get the Aquasaur package, its a pre-prepared little packet - just like sea monkeys. Once you get the "powder" (containing the eggs) into the water, they start to rehydrate, and the amazing part is that they still have life in them! Visitors should also know, this is not a long-term pet. No reproducing or continuation of the life cycle took place. They all died in 4-5 wks.

  • My aquasaurs ate the sea monkey

  • cool video it was great that triop (aquasaur) with the flat back is a very rare male triop you are lucky those sea monkeys are fairy shrimp and you have a daphina in there as well looking good thumbs up

  • Was that a clam shrimp that i saw in there?

  • kool

  • Just an interesting fact, but did u know they found a creature in Ukraine very much like the creature described in this video, but this creature was far larger than 2 inches. There should be a vid here on utube called scientists baffled by giant shrimp in Ukraine.

  • i find this hard to masterbate to

  • where can i find the kit online?

  • I LOVE THIS VID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! +1

  • @fedezsur me too

  • i dont know what u other people see here but what i see is a smart young lady and her father spending some quality time together! It is great that she is taking an intrest in learning and that her dad spendsd time with his daughter and is involved in her life awesome vid. guy, i hope to see more videos from you!

  • @ChanFan03 Well thank you!! yea - this vid has been on here for I think 2 years, and my daughter has grown a lot since then. I appreciated the comments that were made but wish there were more constructive posts. I had to delete the REALLY bad ones - lol.

  • @scottall71 yes some people can be nasty,

  • awesome vid. guys! and for all of you guys hating on this little girl jeesh! if you havent got anything better 2 do then pick on a little girl Pathetic! awesome job guys, hope your guyss "Aquasaurs" are doing great! :)

  • PS:its an EXO-skeleton

  • that deformed one isnt deformed!it is a rare male...it has a smaller carpace than the females...lucky girl...

  • i use rain water for mine

  • YES EVERYONE THEY ARE FRIGGIN TRIOPS. BUT YOU ARE REALLY STUPID TO EXPECT A 10 YEAR OLD TO KNOW ALL THIS CRAP ABOUT THEM.

  • The species of animal is actually a triops longicaudatus which as we all know sounds like quite a mouthful and the specie has also been around for 70 million years and if we don't destroy their habitat they could last for another 500 million years.

  • I loved your video! My 6 year old daughter Hannah and I just set hers up and this was very helpful and interesting to us. Thank you! Good job!

  • They aint having fun with those "seamonkeys"....they gonna EAT them bad boys (and girls)..................

  • I HATE THIS VID

  • @37123321abc This one was funny - and so constructive! If I had a dime for each video I hated, let's just say I could buy the Franklin Mint (and probably YouTube - lol) I'm leaving this here to show we enjoy a wide variety of opinions and don't discriminate.

  • YOU IDIOTS!!!!

    THEY ARE TRIOPS.

    DUMBOS

THEY ARE THE OLDEST LIVING CREATURES learn more little ten year old

  • maybe talk a little quieter but great vid!!

  • Please, people! This is not rocket science. If you are going to post "duu - these are tripos" you may save your typing cause it's already explained clearly in the vid and also in most of the past posts! Thanks for wanting to contribute though!

  • there called triops

  • the small dots are daphnia.

  • I just got triops ant i need help with the smithsonian kind.

  • pedobear

  • IS AMAZING!!!! I WANT!!!!!! =D

  • Id probably get one if I didn' have to buy the whole kit...thats alot to buy for something that would last 20-90 days.

  • I got that same EXACT kit in the mail today so I will hatch them next week most likely Next Monday. LONG LIVE TRIOPS!!!

  • I love triops i am the TRIOP KING so DONT make fun of them torture them, kill them criticise them ect. !!!!!!!!!! I am also the INSTANT PET KING too.

  • Lol u read it on a paper...

  • ok let me explain all of this to you so the girl doesnt suffer

first of all triops (aka aquasaurus) go by many names. Triops is its shortened scientific name. The box said AQUASAURUS on the front so she called it by that name.

The creatures are fairy shrimp because sea-monkeys (Artemia NYOS) live in salty water. on the other hand triops live in fresh water. Fairy shrimp is the best food for triops so thats why theyre there.

trust me I know a lot about them (and im only 12)

  • Well know that we know that they are "TRIOPS" because it's been typed OVER AND OVER...

I think this young lady is adorable and did a great job...and congrats to her parent or who ever that is encouraging her to learn and explore new things.

It's obvious she is a very bright and confident young lady who enjoys learning! HOW GREAT IS THAT?

You should be very proud of her.....she is wonderful! I now want to get these for my Granddaughter who is the same way. So thanks for the tour!!

    I LOVED IT!

  • @rygysmom This was a great post! Thanks for the POSITIVE comment - my daughter & I appreciate it! So many visitors think "these are tripos" is the only thing to contribute - lol

  • @scottall71

Thanks to your daughters darling and informative video...I did get these for my granddaughter. I need to check and see how she is doing with them...She was cute , when I told her they don't live very long, she decided to do a few eggs at a time. Thanks again...I never would have thought to get this without your video.

Now WHAT ARE THESE AGAIN? (that was a lil joke)

  • the tiny dots aresea monkeys but the baby ones

  • the propper name is triops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 the fairy shrimps(or sea monkeys) are in there for the triops to eat, you should really learn more about sea-creatures!!!!!! the dots are daphnia

  • @tbivision We're the ones with the video here, bucko! If you know so much about tripos, feel free to make your own video! (lol - enjoy the entertainment)

  • @tbivision actually they are called triops longicaudatus she's only ten at least she spent time making a video showing people how to use the kit!!! Well Done Vanessa

  • the propper name is triops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 the fairy shrimps(or sea monkeys) are in there for the triops to eat, you should really learn more about sea-creatures!!!!!!

  • @tbivision The name "triops" info has been established - *not* the only name they go by! I hope you learned something here :-)

  • @tbivision why must you be so critical? She is just a kid. I really hope you are a kid yourself because I can not imagine such critical comment coming from a mature adult.

  • the propper name is triops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • That little girl is going to be a doctor.

  • ...you took the triops out of the water....?

  • @fenerseven they commonly hatch with you triops cuz in order to get the triops that are sold in stores the actually breed horshoe crabs with seep monkys(fairy shrimp).

  • THEY ARE TRIOPS NOT AQUASAURS

  • that one skimming the top is a male

  • there called triops arent they

  • appreciate*

  • ermm.. i would appreciat you not playing with triops, the creatures that i love... The poor thing will never rest in peace now... : ( srry for the negative comment, you probobly worked hard on it :) the tank looks nice btw, love the volcano theme :D

  • u r reading off the guide they give you when u buy the kit!

  • every time i grow triops only 1 grows up i don't get it will someone help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @funfamily07 its is hard to grow a sucessful batch of triops

Most of your triops must of died of cannibalism (dont know if i spelled that right)

so try feeding them a little more next time

  • dude triops that is greek for three "eye"

  • i hav just started the aquasaur aquarium and put in the eggs, they hatched fine and all but do they eat all the bits that come with the eggs? because the bits still float at the top of that tank, when its time to feed themin afew days should wait for the bits to go or should i just feed them or should i take the bits out? please help.

  • you feed them to much. they prolly died fast

  • are you sure he is dead? you know they chance there skins..

  • ur tank is to small... if you have a big one you wont have the problem with 1-2 triops servive.

  • What you call the "inside" is acualy called the "undercarage"

  • when i got that kit only sea monkeys hatched!!! and get this, i did not notice them until after they gave birth meaning, i did not notice them until 4 WEEKS they did not eat for 4 weeks yet they sucsesfuly reproduced!!!

  • @TheLegomaster2010 nevermind one Triops hatched becuase i had a heat lamp this time!

  • there not called aquasaurs there called triops

  • @MrGman0909 - They actually go by several names!

  • @scottall71 no only by triops

  • @MrGman0909 they are called aquasaurs, its just a more common name for little kids. really nicely done instructional video! :D

Im growing my own right now and I just cant wait for them to hatch!!!!

  • 1:46

Girl: As you can see they put some sea monkeys in here for the triops to play with...

    *Triops eats Sea monkeys*

Girl: OH NO MY SEA MONKEYS!!!*Crys*

    Camera man: xD

  • my aquasaur tank has small bubbles, is that ok with the aquasaurs?

  • good job!

  • U HAVE A VERY NICE AQUARIUM...*i like ur tank*

  • you are a very creepy human.... show us yer tank

  • Hmm, Raptiosaur has a point. Brine shrimp require brine water and triops need fresh water.

  • She is Cute X3

  • How did you identify them as T. launcauditus? Or does it say somewhere on the package? Its really hard for *me* to identify species of triops that i find in the wild.

  • also yea they do eat the sesa monkeys mine was only 2 days old and it already killed one of them wow

  • those tiny "dots" are actually baby triops that they laid and in my manual it actually said sometimes triops are cannibals and ive seen my triop eat another its very creepy and the triops shed so that might be the skeletons ur talking about

  • Those triops aren't even fully grown yet.

  • triops cancriformis

  • they eat sea monkeys

  • they are called triops not aquasours

  • where did you get the tank?

  • @animalluvforlife its the uncle milton baisic tank

  • Toys R Us - it was around $20 for the whole kit!

  • @scottall71 i got my aquasours from toys r us too its 20 bucks

  • Wow! what a good interview i got them for christmas and so far i have three of them and their really fun active animals to watch! But only if you knew if it was a boy or a girl and i bought a new tank cause this one for me doesn't look good. But i really enjoy them! <3

  • awesome interview

  • That "tea bag" you had to soak in the spring water is actual ground from a "pond" where Triops probably lived in. It contains all the stuff needed for a healthy ecosystem in the tank and it may sometimes contain eggs from other species and additional Triops eggs. What you call Sea Monkeys are not the real sea monkeys that come in kits as those live in salty water. Your "sea monkeys" are probably Fairy Shrimp and I can see Daphnies too. Daphnies are the small round-ish ones. Cool video!

  • Cool video! My sister and I watched this before we started raising our fish. It really helped us! Thanks! But I have one question. How hot or cold should the water be?

    Bye!

  • between 22 and 26 degrees celcius (according to wikipedia)

  • lol i think i have 1 fairy shrimp and 1 triop......

  • euhhum *See monkey to play* euhhum... Its for triops eat them MWAHAHHAHAHAH

  • I forgot what the dots with entenase were called....

  • dapnhia

  • clam shrimp?

  • Vanessa speaks so well. This was very informative. It was great to see what these guys look like in action. I bought this for my nephews for christmas and now my anxiety about whether or not it makes a good gift is at ease.

  • the dots are water flea

  • there called triops lol =)

  • ... They're fairy shrimp. Not sea monkeys (brine shrimp). These "Aquasaurs" (triops) lay their eggs in the same region as the fairy shrimp and the eggs are often harvested together by accident.

  • YE! I had loads of fairy shrimp and 1 triop, I haven't used the other half of the eggs though.

  • Artemia NYOS is another name for this genetic variant of "sea monkey"

  • My aquasaur tank has small bubbles, does that efect the aquasaur hatching? my hasnt hatched yet....

  • @AbbyJaneLovesYou don't triops eat brine shrimp xD. i dont think the brine shrimp is to play with xD

  • @AbbyJaneLovesYou they are sea monkeys, fairy shrimp have longer fins close to the face than the sea monkeys, and they look more like a underwater dragon fly almost, if you have an active imagination like me.

  • "Just for them to play" I lol'ed, more like for them to eat.

  • Was that sea monkey always in there or just put in? cos i'm surprised it wasn't eaten!

  • Yea i had some exept just like your deformed one mines shell was going down all 7 of them=

  • she's reading directly off of the pamplet that comes with it at most of the times

  • where did u get that setup?

  • We just made this makeshift table and an ordinary lamp for the video. The aquarium itself was bought at Toys'R'Us I think. It's really thin and flimsy, but it works!

  • those are seed shrimp in the background

  • actually triops devour sea monkeys like potato chips and chew them into pieces

  • These primitive creatures are ground into powder and sold in packets. As we researched this, we found that the various species go under a few different names.

  • hey are these anything like horseshoe crabs?...and is it possible to get one?(horseshoe crab)

  • she is just reading the info/instruction thing thats included in the kit...lol...

  • omg be my friend im 10 to :D shel looks 10 like me :3 im not lieing im 10 and i have a youtube account i wen igrow up i wanna research mirean life! :D im gunna subscribe to you and send me a friend request plz and im asking my mom for some of these! :D

  • EVERYBODY THESE ARE TRIOPS!

  • the ones with the antenas are water fleas

  • curly got owned; i had this one called curly but he died. LOL

  • Those aren't "Sea Monkeys" (brine shrimp), they're fairy shrimp -- a related genus that grows a lot bigger.

  • or called triops

  • Triops are the "aquasaurs" there is also fairy shrimp in there. I think they put them is for food when the Triops get big enough.

  • I have read up on brine shrimp, fairy shrimp, sea monkeys, (etc) and they are all soooo similar, I found out they are all genetic variants - scientist have been hard at work breeding and cross-breeding to get the right formula for these things...

  • They eat ANYTHING

  • Human flesh!!?..bwhahahaa erm excuse me..

  • nice video 5*'s by the way the little dots are daphnia also called water fleas ;)

  • She was just reading out of the manual.

  • I KNOW, RIGHT?!??!

  • the real name is called Triops. But I suppose Aquasaurs are ok too

  • stop saying wow dude

  • The "sea monkeys" in your tank you called ar actually fairy shrimp, streptocephalus texanus. They live together with triops longicaudatus, cyzicus texanus and daphnia.

I hate the names like sea monkeys, sea dragons, dinosaur shrimp, aquasaur or martian alians or something...

Think about... why does the triops you show died?

Im german, sorry for bad english.

  • In the book, it says that the Triops has a short life cycle of only a few weeks. (Makes the perfect gift AND perfect pet!! haha)

As for the sea monkeys - this special variant species of brine shrimp - they also go by the scientific name: Artemia NYOS

  • How do triops and fairy shrimp live together? aren't fairy shrimp salt water and triops fresh water?Hmm.

  • @Raptiosaur your right about that

  • @Granarius1 oh, no you'r english was fine. Trust me, I'm very advanced in my english grammer

  • @Granarius1 I heard that some type of these creatures that live to about 3 years. Do you know what i'm talking about?

  • they are not aquasaurus the real word is triops and thats their nick named

  • lol, arad i found your comment

  • omfg no way

  • The Sea Monkeys are evidently in the same packet. Either they put them there [on purpose] to serve as some kind of food source (my best guess) OR, they just occur naturally along with the other creatures...

  • theyre not sea monkeys theyre fairy shrimp! :P

  • why do u have sea monkeys with triops???

  • Yes, we are reading from a paper, and YES we are aware they are [also] called Triops. Thank you all for for the original, positive comments to our video!

  • IT'S Triops!

  • wow yours did good i only got one that lived out of mine

  • me too

  • little sting rays lol!

  • dont triops eat sea monkeys or watever

  • theyre triops and those little dot are water fleas witch are a food source for triops and the sea monkeys are for food and for cleaning the algae they eat algae.

DAARRRR AND STOP SAYING WOW :p
