He just made three terrible, terrible movies, which I got dragged to as a child and teen by my friend who insisted that each prequel couldn't be as bad as the last. He should have learned from Empire that things go better if he's not directing or writing the script.
The OT fans never got the point of why the PT was made, did they? The PT wasn't designed to cater to the original fans, it was designed to cater to their children, which is why they were different. Older fans liking the PT was gravy, but the goal was to hook the children of that generation into Star Wars, and I'm sure I'm not the only person who thinks that strategy worked.

@Hughezy Overrated filmmaker?? Have you ever taken the time to watch his student films or other theatrical releases. He was and is a legend at the USC film school. He has gotten many awards for his motion pictures and was he was highly regarded by his teachers at USC. He is also largely responsible for moving the film industry into the future. Lucas and ILM made many technical advancements and was one of the first pioneers of CGI. Overrated filmmaker you say? I don't think so.
Star Wars movies are for teenagers, I don´t like the new trilogy very much, but these movies are not meant to have super complicated-surrealistic plots, they´re just entertainment...

This was a good movie. I didn't like all the ripping on Episode One. They never mention the light saber fight between Maul, Obie Wan, and Jin. The best light saber fight of all six movies! (in my opinion). Yea Obie Wan and Vader both times was cool. And yes, Yoda was great each time. But the Maul fight made that flick for me. We all have special things in our hearts about these movies. I love all six. The first 3 made my childhood. The new 3 made my early adult life. Thanks George!

I have to say, this film and Fanboys got George perfectly.

Both films pay their respects and take jabs when needed. ESPECIALLY the end of Fanboys. This film was a brilliant documentary and really showed the fans as humans, and not just a marketing scheme.

He has gotten many awards for his motion pictures and was he was highly regarded by his teachers at USC. He is also largely responsible for moving the film industry into the future. Lucas and ILM made many technical advancements and was one of the first pioneers of CGI. Overrated filmmaker you say? I don't think so.

I am DYING to see this film but I am broke right now, living in a town which is really in state of depression, and absolutely cannot afford to buy or even rent it! I've been desperately searching online to find it, and after searching a large number of sites which have claimed to have it to stream, I have yet to find one! This was a good movie. I didn't like all the ripping on Episode One. They never mention the light saber fight between Maul, Obie Wan, and Jin. The best light saber fight of all six movies! (in my opinion). Yea Obie Wan and Vader both times was cool. And yes, Yoda was great each time. But the Maul fight made that flick for me. We all have special things in our hearts about these movies. I love all six. The first 3 made my childhood. The new 3 made my early adult life. Thanks George!

I have to say, this film and Fanboys got George perfectly.
On the one hand, you have the genius that pioneered the original trilogy. On the other, the greedy, corporate entity he became.
In many ways, he went from Luke to Vader.
Both films pay their respects and take jabs when needed. ESPECIALLY the end of Fanboys. This film was a brilliant documentary and really showed the fans as humans, and not just a marketing scheme.
