  • All fun and games until your hair gets caught in it.

  • ^-- See... =]

  • Holy...Crap.. I made something a set of goggles almost identical to these, down to the position of the gears. @_o.. which I also got my gears from a junked car cd player, too much freakyness.

  • Comment removed

  • its on a plate LOL

  • does it like shoot stem to clean up your goggles? or does it shoot air to clear up your goggles on a rainy day?

  • what does the motor do?

  • lol the combination of the sound + The rotating made me think you were microwaving them.

  • lol awesome

  • just think if those goggles were real what would those gears do too be spinning nonstop?

  • That is awesome!!, what did you take apart to get that motor that spins the gears?

  • @kevinbollers2 read the uploader comments

  • I can actually see a WoW gnome wearing this... and a goblin wearing almost the same and exploding in his face.

  • Best I've ever seen. Great for identifying zombies and vampires, I'd imagine. :)

  • Its awesome. But im wondering... can you actually see out of it?

  • BADASS! :)

  • this looks kinda more cyber punk

  • strange yet awsome

  • Just give it a bronze and copper paintjob and your good to go :D

  • I still like it better than a blue-tooth. it looks like it will put off a lot less radiation as well. is that warm orange glow, off the left lens, the brotherly warmth of mars, or the burning spirit fire of the sun,?. so, yeah.,. & stuff. mad kudo's for making the game day deadline. I would like a longer video, explaining more. still, gave it a like.

  • I want it!

  • I love how you incorporate the 9v to make it look like its some laser pointer or something, :P!

  • I would be afraid that it would shock my eye ball.

  • that is a little more cyberpunk than steam punk but it kicks ass.

  • dude i would so rock those but my hair would probably get caught in the gears

  • i thought they were being nuked for a second

  • could you do a tutorial vid for this? I'm going to a sci-fi convention in a few months and want to get my costume ready

  • nice build

  • Sexy.

    This is tottally incredible!

But you make 6 months of Skinny Puppy sound like a bad thing...

  • One word AWSOME

  • those goggles are f'ing sexy.

  • Man I need to learn to make this kinda stuff

    -_-

  • @thegrief13 same~~~ i have no idea where to start lol. expecially with the moving parts stuff. i don't think i have any engineering talent. the closest thing i could think of was jewelry, and i've started with some chainmaille stuff. xD

  • great work, just as an afterthought you might consider adding a potentiometer / rheostat to controll the speed of the motor it seems a bit fast especialy if you have longer hair lol

  • where can i find the song?

  • They are really good, I wouldn't be able to make anything close to that, but since they are steampunk, ain't using a visible battery a quite bad idea?

  • how much? i'll give you anything.

  • uhh r these supossed to kool?

  • imressive!!

  • Not to sound rude, but is it safe to put on?

  • Guy #1: Man what I wouldn't do for some X-ray goggles right now...

Guy #2: Oh, here! I made these last night!

xD just kidding. But these are amazingly awesome.

  • this sort of looks like something out of a game... like Fallout3 for example..

  • @MechaLuigi3000 fallout 3 is steampunk influenced, so you're right in a way. the armored guy on the game's cases' cover says it all.

my favorite steampunk game is Arcanum, from the victorian music to the guns (tesla gun <3), and in the first town you get to there's a steam engine in the church!

  • @steebunn sweet!

  • Gnomish Engineering FTW. Can you make a world enlarger?

  • @idontfkinknow1234

haha xD Thats exactly what I was thinking!!! :D I miss WoW.

Also I bet it would be a NIGHTMARE if your hair got caught in that O_O

  • herp derp

  • THANK YOU! I hope I can do a bit of this too!

  • Looks like it's in a microwave.

  • great but the point of steampunk is no electricity! the 6v battery ruins the appearance, but hey it is cool!

  • @5eaMonkey

look at the majority of steam punk things and you will see they use electricity.

The point of steam punk is to create modern things with a Victorian appearance. Read a bit more before you speak!

  • The area of steam is yet forecoming. :-)

    Hang on.

    r

  • were'd you get the motor?

  • impressive. i would have gone with a smaller battery tho. like a thin camera battery or AAA's

  • Freaking hell!!! :D

I' wish i' had steampunk goggles like that.

  • Extremely cool. Well done.

  • Wow, I love the light and the little gears.

I wish I could make something like that.

  • sweet

nice don dude ( ore duddet

  • Where do you get the gears from, please?

  • @iSeenthatB4

The gears came out of a Car CD player that had the automatic face that flips around backwards (It is in the video description). You can find similar gears in most any home appliance that has a motor. Let me know what you build, I'd love to see it.

  • @LostMachine Thank you for the info. I make stuff also from clothing, to furniture and many Victorian goth accessories.

  • +12 geek points!

  • imagine if your hair got caught in the cogs....

  • Brilliant art. This should be used as a movie proset +10 thats amazing freaking art.

  • The goggles do nothing!

  • google goggle google goggle toung twister

  • sweet 8D

  • That mechanism on the side is Great! but i have long hair so i could see problems with that.

Even though i would Gladly Shave my Head for those Goggles.. oh the Irony...

  • i wold where them if my hair wasn't son long.

  • i have same problem but i would shave my head for those goggles!

  • @Tsukasa298 learn how to spell.

  • very cool, but i wouldnt wear them*

    *long hair, spinning gears "Owch!"

  • Awesome design! though i sont want to let my hair down for those goggles (Spinning cogs lol)

  • I think these fall into more a dieselpunk category, but I love moving parts!!

  • hmm..i think the rims look kinda like black plastic, which doesnt really look steampunk-ish,

its really cool though either way though.

  • Sick man, nice job.

  • i wonder, what did you use for the front end to hold the lenses? this is so AWESOME!

  • whats Steam punk?

  • its a futuristic genre, but its composed of elements of victorian style technology so they used trains and zeppelinsand stuff, hence the steam part

  • Try Using Google 4 Once :p

  • I know what it is now, im just too lazy to go delete my comment :P

  • Well you Wernt Lazy Enough to Reply...

    lol

  • Let me rephrase that, I don't feel like going back page after page just to delete a comment. lol

  • This is not Getting Old For Some Reason lol

  • Because i have the power of the Weasel Rat

  • weren't

  • I agree with a lot of the people commenting it doesn't look too steampunk because of the electric motor. I mean just because someone is trying to go for the steam punk look doesn't mean it needs gears. I mean the gears are a nice touch but in don't know if it's for the goggles.

  • paint it a solid brass collor, and some dark gold it would be perfect

  • Doesn't look like steampunk. Nice try tho.

  • Yet not really cyberpunk either. It's like a mix of the two. I do like it though, and I could probably take and develop this design into something more steam punk.

  • There's no elegance in the cyberpunk. <.< I love steampunk because everything is recycled from other, and you can made this with the

    refinement of 1800. You can't understrand. ç_ç

  • right, i just dont build steampunk mods for a living... idiot

  • "Idiot" to your sister. <.<

  • More like Cybergoth if u ask me

  • electro punk?

  • agreed. too modern for steampunk

  • The moving parts make my heart leap for joy.

  • Yeah, I did some research and in fact, found a website that actually sell steampunk gear. I never knew how artistic and creative steam punk was. To me, its like creativity and intelligence fused together.

  • What exactly is "steam Punk"?

  • Best way to explain it to someone is... Ever seen Wild Wild West? Just think sci-fi, but based around steam engine technology and/or time period. Like the Time Machine. Or if you're into anime you can check out Steamboy.

  • The simple answer to the quest "What is steam punk?" would be "awesome."

  • The times when only trains were around , and modern technology today , combined , so basicly everything is powered by things that would look like a train .

  • Retro sci-fi with Victorian and Industrial Revolution inspiration.

  • cool

  • Ze goggles, zey are awesome!

  • Good, but it looks more cyberpunk than steampunk

  • Would also fit to FO3

  • Very nice, looks retro. :)

  • 2 words, me wanty!

  • freaking sweet.

  • 15 geek-points to you sir/madam and an added 30 for such a terrific job!

  • Good sir, thank you sincerely for the showing of these magnificent goggles!

  • Cave Explorer #1 "I cant see anything!!"

Cave Explorer #2 "put these on- they'll help!"

  • @cosmoline626 "ZE GOGGLES, ZEH DO NOTHING!!!"

  • do u know where to buy gears for things like that?

  • any old toy that runs on batteries

  • good show old chap. very well done :)

  • wow!! thats fantastic!! i wish i was that good...

  • Very interesting.

  • okay, hate to ask a stupid question but what is Steam punk?

  • It started as a type of book and grew to a clothing style that people adore. Steampunk is basically what would happen if the Industrial Revolution happened in the Victorian times.

  • First off thank you for not calling me an idiot for not knowing, secondly, VERY intersting look. I googled it after sending the message on here, very cool looking

  • steampunk is a genre of fantasy. Steampunk's defining characteristics are usually, but not always the following. A vicotrian setting. Often times outlandish and uncharacteristic inventions are reimagined for the time period, often using 'steam power' since it was predominate in the era. That's more traditional steampunk, but it can vary. Jules verne is often thought of one of the pioneers of the genre (if you're familiar with hiswork), though the term wasn't coined till the 1970s i believe.

  • very cool, thank you sir. Those goggles look damn interesting

  • Sorry if iam being rude but it's not just a clothing style, like you said it started with books but there are also movie's, band's, anime's/manga's, video games etc that are related to Steampunk, if anything i always call it a "Genre".

Aslo, the Industrial Revolution actualy took place during Victorian times, Steampunk is about what would've happend if that persisted.

  • Steam punk is actually what would of happened if no one had found any other way to power things other then using steam.

  • Basically a mix of technology and the Victorian times really.

  • think "dune"....

  • Oh my gods the gears move! O.O

You kick ass. At least the goggles do.

  • cool :)

  • Impressive! Much better looking than my pair.

However, they would be even better if they were brass in color. Then you would have the perfect eyewear.

  • That is really cool!

  • yeah the fact that you made the cogs move just make it even cooler. Freakin sweet job

  • good... i think they look steam punk, however... moving parts are powered by steam are they not?

  • verry very cool.. i love the colours and the working cogs.. nice attention to detail :)

  • Good job, but I think they look just a little _too_ modern to be classed as steampunk. Very cool though!

  • You get infinity awesome points.

  • I think those are way more steam punk, you wouldn't see gears like that on something cyberpunk.

  • I WANT IT!!!!

  • can we get a how to here?

  • whats these googles for?

  • How much would you ask for to make another pair of those and ship to Maryland?

  • I'm going to be making another pair in a few weeks that I may put up on eBay. I'll try to keep you posted.

  • Make a tutorial while you're at it, please :D

  • that is fucking ba but what is steam punk

  • Its steam power turn of the century fashion mixed with fantasy and science fiction technology. Its awesome, haha.

  • It's pretty much a spin-off of cyberpunk, which is more modern and futuristic.

  • steam punk is way cooler

  • those are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • they achive looking cool and pulling out hair that gets caught in it. but whats fashion without dnager?

  • The process wasn't a bad album...heh, I bet you can't listen to it without thinking of your car these days lol.

  • ace where did u even start lol i want a pair

  • Nice! It's hardly steampunk with out goggles!

  • does it do anything ????

  • What they do is to look very cool, and i think they do that very well.

  • The goggles:

    T: Do nothing

  • ZEY DO NUTZINK!

  • THE GOGGLES!!!! THEY DO NOTHING!!!

  • Exactly! Aren't they wonderful?!?!?! Yay!

  • whats wrong with that?

  • This is kind of inspiring me to visit the optometrist, get my regular eye checkup, choose circular lenses, and build my own frame. Would be much better than boring regular glasses.

  • The goggles are jus amazing, but, yes there is some 'but', the showing platform is just an spinning manually reversed plate. That is sooo steampunk! ;]

  • Ya at 11 seconds you can see my thumb ; )

I would have spent some more time on it if I knew 3000 people would watch it.

  • 7,000 now!

Great job by the way. Steampunk rocks!

  • truly splendid ! the real working clockwork adds a lot too it , gotta make my own pair !!

  • That's an admirable contraption. I however, in my honest opinion, would prefer to fiddle with something that actually does something.

  • Amazing! AMAZING!!

I have been watching Steampunk videos all evening and I have yet to be let down...

I want to make my own steampunk accessories now! I wish I had the materials...

Wait, I probably do... TIME TO GO TEAR APART SOME FURBIES.

  • Steampunk Furbies- that I've got to see!

  • Naw... they're all plastic inside.

  • Nice story behind it, it has inspired me! Extra points for you~

  • I like em.

  • Lol nice :D

    gears ftw

  • Spins and looks pretty.

  • What does it do?

  • What do ya think it does? it;s a pair of goggles!

  • :3

    :x

    :3

    :o

    the goggles, they do nothing~!
