  • I remember when both of these records were radio staples on top 40 AM stations KKUA and KPOI back in the day. Both songs are long lost oldies that should be heard again.

  • "A beautiful song is timeless" (late Ahmet Ertugun, founder & chairman emeritus of Atlantic Records Group). "Forever More" by RurikHakomori/THC,is the best adaptation of this ditty.I loved it in '69-'70 & I LOVE it MORE now! It inspired me and my son to "cover" it. MM, u did a marvelous job of transposing the song from "vinyl" to here. May I suggest that u post all the songs of Tokyo Happy Coats in ur site? Hope that the Hakomori sis, especially,Ruriko, get to see ur site. U r a pro, MM :-)

  • @DAlohaDan Thanks Dan....yeah Ruriko Hakomori ...that's the one....although I liked the girl on the end. No time to talk though...very busy in the studio. Dave worked a number of days on this mix cuz he wanted to get it right. There is a physical edit at 5:41 that was a little tricky but Dave decided to re-track one of the problem instruments in that edit which smoothed it out. No vinyl here..I made this copy directly from the 2-track stereo master while doing the protection copies.

Mahalo MikesMiyu for an excellent job of posting some of the songs of the THC! They are one of a kind! Ruriko's (lead singer) voice is so alluring & angelic. Hope she still sings. Too bad they did not make any video takes!

Since my son and I ran into your site,we have decided to cover "Foreve More & Here is Happiness" as a duet (my son & I) via our music firm. My profound gratitude to you. You are a real video and musical pro! Mahalo & Aloha Nui (tysm)

  • Ruriko, I was the lead singer of the Show Group "World Wide Six" that performed at the Pagoda Hotel's C'est Si Bon showroom in 1970 2 weeks b4 THC did. Mr.Hayashi (Pagoda's owner) introduced me to u & ur interpreter. U told me that u liked my version of "ForeverMore & Here's Happiness" which I copied from U! I promised 2 see your show but that night was the last night I ever sang again in Hawaii because I got ill. THC's version of these ditties r still my fave. Hope U or ur child read this note.

  • TYSM! I was also a performer at the Waikiki Scene circa the late 60's and very early 1970. When I first heard of the THC's "Forever More & Here is Happiness" on AM radio, I loved both! I added the songs in my shows. I met Ruriko (lead) during 1of my shows & I promised her that I will see her. Strep throat got me 4 weeks & never got to see the THC again! I saw this 3 days ago! I was researching Google & her child wrote that Ruriko is her/his mom! Where is she?USA or Jpn? Pls apprise me here.TU

  • amazing rendition of the song i like it very much!!

  • My mother's generation had the Tokyo Happy Coats and my generation has Maximum The Hormone. Fair trade?

  • hello MilesMiyu! thank you SO MUCH for sharing...my dad used to sing these two songs to me, what tears and memories it brings back! thank you, thank you.

  • What ever happened to these gals. They really had an impact on Hawaii, when they were here.

  • Forevermore, was our love song and then she had to go away, but before she left she sang this song to me and i played the guitar. this was in the late 60s in wailuku, hawaii. one day we will meet under the apple tree in the Lord's presence. japanese songs are very popular in hawaii because of the large japanese population/culture.

  • And I really love the pre-recording chatter. So it was the last take on that reel. One of the girls also said, "matte" (wait a moment). I wish their records would be issued on CD. Anyway, I hope all the girls are happy and safe.

  • Now that's a good question...where are they now? Maybe if they search their own group name on YouTube they could throw in a comment. "Here is Happiness" was my favorite...mostly for the spoken poetic interlude (remember Elvis's "That's when your heartaches begin"?). I have some instrumental sessions that I might post later. Thanks for you input PHOTOJPN and hope we in the US can alleviate nature's rath upon your people.

  • Wow, wow, wow. THANK YOU, THANK YOU for this. I've been looking for "Here is Happiness" for many years. The other song was available on CD issued in Hawaii, but not "Happiness." I wonder what happened to these great girls. I can't find much info even in Japanese.

  • WOW.....the THC album is next-to-impossible to find. This is even RARER!

What about VIDEOS of this band (I hear they played instruments) and also Monument Records' The Kim Sisters?

Both pioneering Asian all-female bands got good acceptance by American audiences....and found musical homes on labels normally reserved for Nashville C&W musicians. Go figure!

  • MikesMiyu, you can proud of the work you and Dave Harrison did. Congratulations. This is first rate.

  • This is really nice. Thanks for sharing. Great to hear them sing in their native tongue....well done.
