  • 0:20, I instanly knew this song!

  • Acojonante temazo!

  • When I hear this song I imagine drinking at a downtown bar in New York.I imagine Monica Lewinsky stepping in, sitting next to me at the bar and getting smashed on tropical cocktails while reciting her string of affairs after affairs. She then delves into a candy store, and I follow her back to her hotel room so I can give her a "one night stand" she wont forget ..... hey its all MAKE BELIEVE - thanks TOTO ! .... oh and thanks Kenny G for the intro sax .... but thats "make believe" too !

  • @Stealthkeys77 Poor Monica - give her a break. She STILL has affection for Bill Clinton according to news reports.

When I hear this song I think of playing the record over and over at the apartment of a friend from high school (I LOVED the chorus/bridge(?) at 1:01 then and now) while I was at the University of Missouri, feeling alone and wondering what to do with my life. (Praise The Lord, I'm having a lot of fun now with my wonderful wife and family.)

  • I am in love, but not just because of that, this sounds to me at the moment as the best song I've ever heard... I hope I get the girl, meanwhile "...I make believe she is also in love with me..."

  • Like this song people, the Legends are all looking the like button

  • Toto hit #30 in Billboard, 9-25-82. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • My favorite Toto song and there's no video on youtubeless? Seriously, remove over half the cr*p on here and post REAL music, not the heartless drivel being spawned these days by no-talent, wastes of flesh.

Toto rocked when i was in college (late '70s) and again in the '80s. Rock on, guys!

  • saw bobby kimball yesterday

  • years 80's the best

  • exelente thema

  • please dont blame me

  • the great thing about toto is that the lyrics were always so inexplicable that you could totally get into the feel and sound. and sing your heart out without really knowing what the hell you were singing about or caring.

  • spring time...a song that I like to listen to when I'm cruising anywhere. no rush to get there and it's just me alone..great album.

  • This is one of the greatest 80s albums, arguably one of the best pop albums ever.

One of my 'desert island' discs...

  • I'm named after Steve Lukather =) and I'm proud of it (no ginger) haha

  • Great song! I really liked Toto... I liked Hall and Oates and later the Pet Shop Boys in the 80s, but Toto were def in the Top 3... :-)

  • uma das melhores musicas da banda toto

  • Love this song....brings me back........

  • they're all looking at the like button!! hmmmm. . like!!

  • This is a great Toto song, great!

  • Hot hot, Toto rules

  • Crackin' musicianship.

  • whaaaa this makes my day ^^

  • best song thank you toto

  • Hit #30 in Billboard. God bless!

  • great song by david paich wit sax by jon smith and tom kelly on backup with luke, bobby and paich! a shuffle like hold the line which is always a pleasure to hear jeffrey play,he makes it sound so smooth and effortless ,which it is when you have his abilities!

  • lekker nummer, i love it

  • The sax intro is just great! Isnt this song from vice city? Emotion 98? well.. whereever its from, its still just great!

  • I "always rememberrrrrr", playing this song over and over again at a friend's apartment during my senior year at the University of Missouri - Columbia. Love their musicianship.

  • @ATamandua I had the pleasure of seeing Toto at the old Ice Chalet, AC exit, south end of Columbia, May,1980 Hydra tour. You must have been a Mizzou senior in '82, cuz my friends jammed to this song on campus that fall! Still one of my favorite concerts.

  • Not in this photo i Jeffrey Porcaro who played drums on the track and David Hungate who was the bass player.

  • great song forever

  • even though i worship dragonforce-metal... i love this song ! i play gta on psp just for this song :D hold the line is great too

  • GTA VICE CITY STORIES,EMOTIONS 98.3 FM...man i just love this song includin the sax intro 8D

  • @76BLADERUNNER this is one of my favourite songs by Toto and I like the sax intro as well and I use to play the saxophone along time ago when I was in primary school and I wished I had one now but they are expensive I can rent one

  • @76BLADERUNNER man your so right i miss vice city so much :'(

  • @israelme123 I'm still playing it sometimes :)

  • This song really seems at James Taylor's "shower the people", it's maybe a cover?

  • This photo is a mistake, Where's Jeff and David? Put a photo of 1983

  • saxaphone owns this song!!!

  • Gr8 song. My favs r Hold The Line, Africa and Make Believe. Luv it.

  • if u love TOTO try to listen to this amazing new band WORK OF ART and their debut album ARTWORK

    google myspace woa artwork

  • toto in dominican means pusyy(vigina)

  • ..holyanna is the best o,,o

  • WOOOT THE END OF TOTO!?

that`s too bad, i luv their music!!!

  • TOTO great band!!!! It's too bad they won't record any new album :(( I've heard this is the end of TOTO...

  • I went to a Steve Lukather clinic few months ago, and he told us that Toto broke up because he was the only original founding member on stage (David Paich retired from touring in 2006 and Jeff Porcaro died), and more importantly, it seems Mike Porcaro is ill

  • Isn't Bobby Kimball an original member?

  • He's not a founding member

  • @bradcta Well of course he was but he was not in the band for about 20 years so of course Steve Lukather felt that Toto was no longer "TOTO" if you know what i mean. One impressive thing with just Steve Lukather is that he is the only one in Toto that has been on stage at EVERY concert they had since 1977! Thats pretty cool!

  • This song should have been a top 5 hit in sept of 82.

  • wow...my girl jus left me n said she dont love me anymore n she dont have feelings for me anymore,,,n we can only be friends,,,,,n i love her more than anythinggg in the world... :(

  • Toto IV is an incredible album and this is the best song on it!

  • Right now, I feel a good feeling in my whole body, only because I have listened to this song. Thank you, TOTO, for this.

You guys were the best, and it's a shame that you have split.

I hope that someday these guys will play together again as Toto.

    R.I.P. Jeff Porcaro

  • @Ande5865 i think they will. i heard that they are going to do a concert or something together because mike porcaro is ill with ASL

  • 3 guys in this picture didn't even play on this album, but a great tune nonetheless.

  • I love this group, they're so talented and have such good music. Its funny but this song was on Grand theft Auto: Vice City Stories. A game that a crapload of good music,

  • same here, i love their music

and i just learned about this song in that game....

too bad theres no other ones

  • @up27a

grand theft auto vice city (the original) one has africa on one of the radio stations, and in san andreas they have hold the line :D

the people who made grand theft auto have a good taste in music.

  • yep :)

  • TOTO FOREVER!

  • TOTO THE LOVE YOU

  • I always remember my college days when I hear TOTO music. They were really great! Brings back good memories, being carefree and living in Charleston, SC.

  • love this song.

  • Great song by Toto.

  • @IKE11111 Sadly, it was also very underrated!

  • GREAT BAND,the best album for me is Turn Back heavy with class

  • This is one of my favorite Toto songs. It didn't get as much airplay as some of their other songs back in their heyday, but I never get sick of hearing this group.

  • Toto is definitely a group that didn't get too much air play. Make Believe is a great song; probably b/c they didn't over play it. Regardless, this song rocks!!!

  • LOVE TOTO SINCE 1978 .....

  • HOME OF THE BRAVE...

  • God Bless Mike Porcaro!

  • Awesome track, excellent LP, Great Post!

  • i ever loved you

  • Bobby Kimball. One of the best singers ever.

  • One of the best band ever!

    Awesome musicians!

  • The song rocks.

  • this song is better than hold the line although hold the line is fantastic - This is complete magic this song!

  • Just a piano sounding start, yet yeah, kinda close.

One is my favorite songs, ToTo.

I need to see these guys again. Calif dates yet?

    KANSASABAND=======COM

  • the beggining is like hold the line lol

  • This song remember me GTA VCS, It´s the very best of the 80´s right?

  • Me too, that's where I got the song from. =D

I can't remember any of the other songs though!

  • another good song are Baby hold on to me of Eddie Money, Easy Lover and Phil Collins and Philip Bayley, Don't let Go of Wang Chung

Try these, I can tell you more, if you want

    see ya

  • anyone have a live version?

  • What a song! Melody and lyrical masterpiece...brings back some of those '80s memories. Good post.

  • Love this song

  • At least one of them is english born, makes me happy :)

  • I am Spanish and the only thing that comes to mind is TODO which means ''all'' and think that's a good name for the band since they can PLAY IT ALL!! and how! beautifully.

  • toto in latin means "all" and indeed they can PLAY IT ALL.

  • don't mean to burst your bubble. but "Toto" means "all-encompassing" close though

  • well, in cuba you can say toto as a pussy or tota but is really an slang ,i say that toto means (great music), i'm a cuban'rocker thanks for that song , one of the best band and one of my favotite.

  • the most comon meaning of toto at least in argentina is as a nick-name for some people. actually my brother an my partner we call both their toto an my brother is manuel and my partner is martin. I don't know but i met a lot of people whose names are toto. sorry for my english, I'm argentinian, saludos

  • Well... in Brazil it is common to call any dog TOTO, but it has nothing to do with pussies or dicks or whaterer pleases you!

  • thanks for the info. I just didn't know. and here I thought that totos' wish from the wizard of Oz was to become a rock star...oh well, I guess we learn something new every day. great album and thanks for posting

  • Was Simon Phillips the drummer on this song? I thought Jeff Porcaro was. Wow!

  • lmao,r u serious? u gotta be friggin kiddin me mamon20.

  • I'm dead serious Cobra LOL.... you can ask any hispanic friends you know and they'll tell you...

  • So what? The band was named after Toto the dog in Wizard of Oz. Look it up.

  • I'm chilean, I speak spanish and I never heard that TOTO means pussy in my language...Maybe in other countries not in mine LOL

  • what does TOTO really mean in spanish becaues i really don't believe mamon20 germania72

  • As I said, I'm a spanish native speaker and I never heard of Toto as a name for pussy...Who knows? Maybe, it's a very local slang somewhere in Latin America, but it's not a general name...I heard of "concha", "choro", "conejo" and rude names like that...but never Toto...Maybe, he's joking...Ah, and Toto in spanish has no meaning. I only know Toto from The Wizard of Oz.

  • good looking out germania72, but i just found out that punani is the right translation, just imagine if the guys of toto would've heard this, i can only imagine the looks on their faces if mamon20 would've told them, it would've been so embarrassing, don't u think so?

  • I think so. That's why I think that a person can't say that in Latin America (we're too many countries), we call something this way, because, it can be something regional or related to a village...About punani...Well, my bf is hungarian and PUNA means pussy in his slang...LOL

  • LOL!! your kidding right?

  • No kidding, it's true...but not so common like "punci" (childish word) or "pina".

  • yeah jeff was the one who played on this particular song but simon took over when he passed away.:)

  • They couldn't have gotten a better drummer than Simon to replace the legendary Jeff Porcaro! Both great drummers!

  • no it was jeff this is from toto iv

  • Simon Phillips didn't join TOTO 'til 1992.

This tune was recorded in 1982-83.

Jeff's the groove you're hearing on this.

    T

  • Only half of the guys in the pic had anything to do with this track-- I guess 3 out of 6 ain't bad!

  • I first heard it on Vice City Stories.

  • me too,i could never figure out who sang it at first[who would've thought toto would've been the one].

  • Happy B'Day Mr. Kimball! (March 29th) Man, he still has "good pipes" seeing him a few years ago with the band at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York!

  • Obviously, the blend of rock and R&B created some great singers, such as Bobby Kimball and Steve Perry.

  • What a voice

  • i love all those 80s songs and i'm only 16!!

  • this is one of my favs!!

  • this song is from 80s but very populary in 90s

  • Why don't radio stations play songs like this one and others u don't hear on the radio anymore when they play their "All 80's Music Request Weekend"?

  • Good question. Never hear this song...or You Supply The Love or Pamela. Their all rock songs from the 70's and 80's.
