When I hear this song I imagine drinking at a downtown bar in New York.I imagine Monica Lewinsky stepping in, sitting next to me at the bar and getting smashed on tropical cocktails while reciting her string of affairs after affairs. She then delves into a candy store, and I follow her back to her hotel room so I can give her a "one night stand" she wont forget ..... hey its all MAKE BELIEVE - thanks TOTO ! .... oh and thanks Kenny G for the intro sax .... but thats "make believe" too !
@Stealthkeys77 Poor Monica - give her a break. She STILL has affection for Bill Clinton according to news reports.
When I hear this song I think of playing the record over and over at the apartment of a friend from high school (I LOVED the chorus/bridge(?) at 1:01 then and now) while I was at the University of Missouri, feeling alone and wondering what to do with my life. (Praise The Lord, I'm having a lot of fun now with my wonderful wife and family.)
I am in love, but not just because of that, this sounds to me at the moment as the best song I've ever heard... I hope I get the girl, meanwhile "...I make believe she is also in love with me..."
My favorite Toto song and there's no video on youtubeless? Seriously, remove over half the cr*p on here and post REAL music, not the heartless drivel being spawned these days by no-talent, wastes of flesh.
Toto rocked when i was in college (late '70s) and again in the '80s. Rock on, guys!
the great thing about toto is that the lyrics were always so inexplicable that you could totally get into the feel and sound. and sing your heart out without really knowing what the hell you were singing about or caring.
great song by david paich wit sax by jon smith and tom kelly on backup with luke, bobby and paich! a shuffle like hold the line which is always a pleasure to hear jeffrey play,he makes it sound so smooth and effortless ,which it is when you have his abilities!
I "always rememberrrrrr", playing this song over and over again at a friend's apartment during my senior year at the University of Missouri - Columbia. Love their musicianship.
@ATamandua I had the pleasure of seeing Toto at the old Ice Chalet, AC exit, south end of Columbia, May,1980 Hydra tour. You must have been a Mizzou senior in '82, cuz my friends jammed to this song on campus that fall! Still one of my favorite concerts.
@76BLADERUNNER this is one of my favourite songs by Toto and I like the sax intro as well and I use to play the saxophone along time ago when I was in primary school and I wished I had one now but they are expensive I can rent one
I went to a Steve Lukather clinic few months ago, and he told us that Toto broke up because he was the only original founding member on stage (David Paich retired from touring in 2006 and Jeff Porcaro died), and more importantly, it seems Mike Porcaro is ill
@bradcta Well of course he was but he was not in the band for about 20 years so of course Steve Lukather felt that Toto was no longer "TOTO" if you know what i mean. One impressive thing with just Steve Lukather is that he is the only one in Toto that has been on stage at EVERY concert they had since 1977! Thats pretty cool!

I love this group, they're so talented and have such good music. Its funny but this song was on Grand theft Auto: Vice City Stories. A game that a crapload of good music,
I always remember my college days when I hear TOTO music. They were really great! Brings back good memories, being carefree and living in Charleston, SC.
This is one of my favorite Toto songs. It didn't get as much airplay as some of their other songs back in their heyday, but I never get sick of hearing this group.
Toto is definitely a group that didn't get too much air play. Make Believe is a great song; probably b/c they didn't over play it. Regardless, this song rocks!!!
I am Spanish and the only thing that comes to mind is TODO which means ''all'' and think that's a good name for the band since they can PLAY IT ALL!! and how! beautifully.
well, in cuba you can say toto as a pussy or tota but is really an slang ,i say that toto means (great music), i'm a cuban'rocker thanks for that song , one of the best band and one of my favotite.
