how about sleep paralysis related breathing difficulties killing kids every week, theres scientific papers on net saying people report breathing difficulties during a sleep paralysis attack, wot about the kids and babies who couldnt survive?
this sleep disorder is killing kids, babies, adults and older folk and no one is doing anything about it apart from me.
I never knew this....I'm so glad that I found this and I know now that this is a hazzard. I feel so bad for the parents that lost these beautiful babies...thank you for posting this. I'm changing out my blinds now...

vickeyk you cannot be with your kid 24/7 once they go to school. unless you homeschool and even then when they nap you can't stay in the bedroom for three or four hours reading or something because the kid isn't going to sleep with a distraction like that.

I have window blinds in my home on every window, Its not the window blinds, its the parenting. You are not suppose to let them play with them and i know if u pay close attention a child doesn't die from strangling on a window blind for a short period of time, these babies must have been unattended for a long time. Like i said I never leave mine alone, I know they get into stuff very quick and my daughter has never tried to play with blinds, if she did I would hear her b/c I dont go far from her
What makes you think that parents "let" their children play with cords? I have talked to hundreds of parents and NONE of the accidents took a long time. 5 minutes is all it takes. I hope you don't have blinds in her room. You won't hear anything and you leave her in there all night long by herself. It is easy to play the I am a better parent than you are roll. This is not about parenting, its about products that are unsafe for children.

No parent should ever leave their child alone in their own room at an early age without checkign on them every 15 to 30 mins. and keep the stupid blinds away from children, use some brains! You put meds and other shit up from them, start putting blind cords up where they cant reach them! and watch ur children better! it is all about parenting!

I wanted to add that children die in less than 5 minutes, so if you wait 15 minutes to check on them, they would be dead by the time you got in the room.

I happen to know that these people are awesome parents and that your brazen comment will be wounding them forever. Sometimes it astounds me how cruel and heartless some people are. I truly hope you never choose to raise a child because it's people like you who damage children. My heart goes out to these grieving parents .
Many of these parents just simply put their children down to sleep. Kids either died in their rooms, or got up while parents were sleeping and were playing in the cords. There are all different circumstances to these accidents. It is NOT a supervisory issue as children have died in the same room with parents. These deaths are silent, you don't hear anything. It's like trying to hear a child drown. You hear nothing.
My baby brother almost died, luckily our mom found him JUST in time. He had a line around his little neck for a long time. I am now a mom of 3, and I have NO blinds in my home. They are far 2 dangerous. And to you ignorant people saying, I'm fine and I have them in my house, have compassion. Not all children are 'fine' because of those cords!
I am sure many other parents "thought" their children were fine too until their child died. It only takes seconds for children to get caught up in them.
If you watch the videos, you'll find the only window coverings that are safe are curtains. Even with the plastic safety things, there are still the inner cords. Many die in those.
Have you told your family and friends about this danger? Consider forwarding the link to these videos to them, so they can avoid disaster in their lives.
I'm glad to see that you've installed the safety devices, but let's see how we can keep many more children from dying.

My son dead a year ago from a windows blind. He was 1 month short of his fourth birthday.
From the account in the video it sounds like the same exact thing that happen to my son.
