  • I think you handled it very well.

  • Greblo teaches being upright way too much. you ought to be prone and concentrating on energy management, glide angle and aim point. there's a time to get upright, it's not the entire flight.

  • I wouldn't call that a crash. He ended the flight on his feet; it's just the location was a little off.

  • 54000 views !!!!!!!!!!! what s up, just nothing loll

  • It looked like you were riding on the ground the whole time.

  • i was waiting for that cliff to appear :D this was no crash dude

  • Thanks for sharing. We are including link to your experience in the November issue of LIFT. World ParaGliding Association. Your single-tether kite hang glider is in a subset of paragliders (those of one tether that is short enough to allow you to control flight by handling the truss or triangle control frame that came into hang gliding at least by 1908 in Breslau. You did a good job of using the overshoot LZ!

  • What crash! You got my hopes up damit! I wanted to see some blood or a broken bone or something.

  • Rather you than me.

  • You landed downwind ......Next time pay attention to details on the landing zone that indicate your wind direction.-

  • Oh wow, I was getting VERY scared at the end. You were flyin' there! Nice job saving it. Why'd you get yelled at? For overshooting, I mean?

  • it looks like your hang strap is WAY too short. You should be able to comfortably hold the base bar, but when hanging so high is the reason you are holding the downtubes. There should only be an inch or so from your harness to the basebar, not a foot. The glider works on weight shift, so when you are so high it dramatically reduces your control in flight, particuarly roll control.

  • I always enjoy watching your video, im hoping to get some lesson in a few weeks with Joe of course.

  • About how fast are you going on final approach? I am seriously thinking of taking a few lessons to see how I would like this but I really don't see how I couldn't.

  • I was never afraid of heights until a cheap hang gliding lesson guy told me to let go when I had enough speed so I could feel the breeze. So I did so, but the strings were too thin. Thank god for that parachute strapped around my stomach! Don't think I'm fat so the rope snapped, I'm 150 pounds.

  • @GoldenBoer412 So your parachute werent attached to your harness?

  • I'm so glad you landed safely in spite of such a "CRASH" :P

So envy you! You can feel what an eagle feel!! Pls keep posting. Happy gliding :)

  • Ouch, why do the landings look so painful?

  • it's not a crash if you can walk away! :)

  • fake as hell not real not real

  • handgliders are going WAAAYY to fast!!! I`ll stick to my paraglider

  • You were pretty darn high! (*O*)

  • So, if the sport safe? Safer than bungee jumping and SCUBA diving? Glad you didn't get hurt.

  • WTF: why are you flying on the downtubes and not prone?

  • You know what they say, "every landing that you walked from is a good landing"

  • Wow that was an insane landing i would have been crapping my pants!

  • Looks like you landed in the next country!

  • In the event of a crash let go of the control bar and roll up into a ball.

    I read it in a book :)

  • lol, made me nervous watching you bro

  • Hey nice flare!

  • They see him glidin' they hatin'

  • I have to agree with guitarpilot, it looks like he's hanging a foot off the basetube, the hangcheck doesn't show different, maybe it's just camera angle, sure looks high to me

  • Very nice landing, got a real good recovery.

  • that was cool to see your shadow on the ground get smaller and smaller.very nice video

  • @tontar Sometimes I use the nose wires to dive the glider ,and the rear wires to flare.

  • it looks like a green screen lol

  • It sure does .

  • Man, it looked like you were going 60 mph at the end, I just changed my underwear before the end of the video!

  • @WoWgnome123 lol it is not camra is fixed so looks like glider stays still and ground moves

  • @WoWgnome123 gros bourrin !

  • @WoWgnome123 He's flying over Andy Jackson air park in So Cal.. I recognize the terrain.

  • Lol, almost looks fake.

  • this looks weird.

i mean because of the camera position.

the picture doesn't has any depth. looks all flat^^

watch 2:00 to ..., can't tell wether he's almost on the ground or 20m above (or more)..

why do you use only the uprights?

was it kinda saftey thing for the first flight(s)?

like "don't over do it, keep it simple"?

  • human eyes have poor depth perception over 20 ft when there is no angle .that's why we use angles to judge altitude Our eyes are good at seeing angles.the cameras above my head shooting straight down.that's why it looks funny to you .I will fly upright for some part of every flight to stay in practice for Launching and landings.you have to keep the muscle memory sharp.when I'm done practicing I reward myself and prone out .

  • good job, good landing, always in command.

  • It looks like your hanging to high. Why do you not have your hands on the base tube in the prone position?

  • @guitarpilot1 Hey Bro :

It just looks that way .I 'm never in the prone position in this video ,the camera is mounted above me shooting down .If you want to see me proned out ,watch my (last flight as H2 video ) then you will see the difference I've had others tell me the same thing.

  • @guitarpilot1

Look at the video again and you will see that when he does a hang check that he is NOT hanging too high. Also this was his first flight. No need to go prone. To the pilot: that was sure wild! ;-)

  • I will thanks

  • practice some s turns to bleed altitude

  • It was a cool landing dude. You never gave up. You are the pilot in command at all times. Just don't get over confident from this success. Nice camera position too.

    Malury

  • thank Jonathan ,I always wanted to land out it was a rush ,I also couldn't believe the ground effect over the bushes! the glider would not come down it kept going & going another 150 feet I would have left the field or hit the tree.

  • Excellent landing 'bro! I'd moon you back if I could. ;-) BTW - I've seen Hang 4s overshoot that LZ in easier conditions.

  • im one of those hang fours that almost overshot.Nice landing man!
