yeah I've seen it closer and resembles a cross with very bright blue and red led lights. I'm guessing its something man made..I've seen it couple of times and the same area and and distance..
dude we saw that same thing yesterday feb14 2011 at around 11 D: it was near senter and capitol expressway. the thing seemed to land at a creek near it. we went to chase it down and saw nothing, on our way back we saw it again hovering not too far from us. we took footage too.
do u llive near the saratoga area? when i was getting off the freeway i notice a strange object with red and bllue lights. it was around 11pm. it was crazy!

I got some from san jose too a while ago... Good footage! Whatever it was it looked fast and changed directions too quick for a plane.
