Proponents of this strategy are the old commander in Afghanistan and the new Commander in Afgh. COIN focuses on using all resources to capture the hearts and minds of teh popualtion which is the linchpin of the COIN strategy.

Gen. Stanley McChrystal has been the best commander of forces in Afghanistan since the war started there. This is the man that ran the special Task Forces responsible for the capture of Saddam Hussien, his sons and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi who was the leader of Al Queda in Iraq. He is a straight shot, does not bullshit and tells it like it is. The administration has failed this man. Especially our president who didn't even know anything about him when they first met...that's pretty bad...
