This is an awesome sight! I've seen that exact same event except up at our church just below Mount Hamilton. In fact, I saw this pair just after seeing an ocean sunset at Santa Cruz! It was neat to see this after sunset and well through the night. We are fortunate that the skies cleared up since we've been having lots of clouds lately :)

I have seen the same thing!!.
But when i saw it Venus was a bit higher up like in the "middle of the moon" and Venus did travel front of the moon.
And when it reached the moon it did just look like a small black ball!! that did travel in a straight line.... could that really been venus??
