Man... I remember when G-Force was on REGULAR Cartoon Network years before this, again at like 2 or 3 in the morning along with Speed Racer. That was before Toonami had even come out yet. I guess I was 6 or 7. That was one of my absolute favorite shows on there and I was always disappointed cus they almost never showed it during the day when I could catch it. I was usually up all night if I was staying with a babysitter or something... memories
@Erador It used to air up to 6 days a week (afternoons and late night re-runs) when it first premiered on CN in early 1995. After a couple of runs (or for some other reason), it was relegated to late nights, then weekends only by 1996. The TMR airing was very brief; only a handful of episodes were aired between January-March 2000.
@HumanDaikon Episode 15, "The Giant Jellyfish Lens". The original Gatch version of that episode is up here on YT if you want to check it out.
Scenes from this intro are culled from the first 20 episodes (not all of course) of "G-Force", including one of the pilots, which are up on my videos!
this, thunder cats, and voltron, then sailor moon, robotech, and DBZ, then Gundam, then toonami just started to get crazier and crazier with the awesome shows it was dishing
The intro music used on this promo was also used for Sailor Moon at one point in 2000 for the Sailor Moon bumpers...Those are almost impossible to find, though...
This obscure airing of "G-Force" on "Toonami Midnight Run" (at what, friggin' 3-3:30AM?) was so under the radar; I wished I had known about it. I'm surprises anyone even catched these intros, much less was up watching TMR late into the night.
I rememb G Force and saw on here that this version was copyrighted in 2000 which I thought maybe that I first saw it in the 90's or 2000 or later. I told my niece that I saw first saw it when it was called "Battle Of The Planets" and the voices where different. There is a channel with B O T P. Casey Casesum's voice was on there too.
I remember running to the tv set whenever I heard the corny opening, they went as far as to list the names and do profiles in the intro, Dirk Daring ''bold as a hawk'' LOL.
In the original Gatchaman they were known as: Ken the Eagle, Joe the Condor, Jun the Swan, Jinpei the Swallow, and Ryu the Owl. In the seventies when they were brought over to the US they were Mark, Jason, Princess, Keyop, and Tiny. Re-done again in the 80's (Only God knows why) Changed again to Ace Goodheart, Dirk Daring, Agatha June, PeeWee, and HootOwl (Hootie). I guess they called him Hootowl as an excuse to shorten it to Hootie. Eagle Riders I think used some of the original names.
does any one remember which episdoe it was when one of glactor's henchmen hop unto his spacecraft just as he was leaving and galactor kicks him and shouts "Fool.....infidel" lmfao that was so funny i would like to watch that episode again.
Depends if you watched Battle of the Planets, or G-Force. BOTP the names were Princess, Tiny and Jason, I believe. and in G-Force the names were changed to the others. And in the Original Gatchaman There original names are different again. I think Jason was called Ken, I can not remember the actuall Japanese names for the others.
Thanks. The version that I discovered a few years ago had Jason, Tiny, Princess and I want to say the other two, but I can't remember them. I then heard of the different names.
Somehow, I would want to be known as Tiny instead of HootOwl anyway.^-^
I've uploaded the first and sixth episodes of "G-Force", the 18th (actually pilot) episode (in Spanish) and high-quality versions of the "G-Force" intro and outro. Check my videos section and the video responses on this page.
Unfortunately and ironically, the original English episodes of "G-Force" are quite hard to come by, while foreign-language versions are EASIER to get because "G-Force" had more of a fanbase (still not as much as BotP though) internationally. I too pray for a series DVD release. BotP & Gatch got one, why not G-Force? Our fanbase may be small, but we still want it!
Yep, I know which in most people's eyes would make the G-Force dub completely redundant now. But just like there are people who prefer Streamline's "Akira" dub over the brand-spankin' new Pioneer dub, I still have a soft spot for the "G-Force" dub even though it's now been outclassed.
It's ironic you would mention Akira given the fact that the Streamline voice overs for Kaneda, Tetsuo, and Kaori/Takashi were all in G-Force. The OVA also had some actors from the Streamline dub- Kei and "Yuji Takeyama" (no clue who that is, but he was in it!), along with Takashi's Pioneer actress.
This is "G-Force:Guardians of Space", the '80's dub of Gatchaman most known for airing on Cartoon Network. "Battle of the Planets" is from the late '70's and notably features the R2-D2-like "7 Zark 7".
i hated 7Fart7 even when I was a kid. I always wondered why R2-D2 was in Battle of the Planets. Such a bunch of horse crap. Yes, that dumb dog with the flying tail was 1Rover1... or as I like to remember, 1Boner1.
the robot was used a narrator of sorts to "fill-in" the scenes and/or material cut from the original Gatchaman and they chose the R2-D2 template due to the popularity of Star Wars that had just debuted a year before BotP.......now you have more detailed info to be pissed at :) :P
Both. The original show was Gatchaman. Gatchaman was in Japanese and it was pretty violent.
The show was picked up by US interests, butchered, and this is the result. Battle of the Planets and G-Force were still breakthrough in American television, but they are very watered down versions of the original.
Gatchaman was a saga, over 100 episodes, and not nearly as child oriented.
I remember this intro. I never did get to see much of G-Force either time on CN (the first time, I came in late to the series. The second..well, I don't think it lasted too long). Thanks for uploading this. Despite BOTP being better in some aspects, I still have a place for this dub (and the original Gatchaman)..
Definitely not this show. They haven't shown it pretty much since early 1997. And that was the last time the show has aired in it's entirety in the U.S on a national scale too. No DVD boxsets, NOTHING.
I believe Gatchaman also brought forth Saban Brands' Eagle Riders.

@188metalhead881 Believe it or not the yoyo was developed as a weapon before it became a toy. And it was actually more like a whirlygig.
