You have to use the CD that it came with [or you can download it off the internet from their official site], but there are files [the ones you mention] that need to be placed on your sd card, along with the game files.

i have the R4 and am frustrated because nintendo's lawsuit prevents the R4 from releasing firmware updates.. i can't figure out how to use hack files to get around the games that have copy protection... so does the m3 site release updates to get around the copy protection for games?

Personally I hope they can't. I've read that sales of GTA on the DS have been very poor, and its largely because to many of its target audience is pirating. Which means there will be no sequel b/c ppl are being cheap! >: / lame.

so basically, its a ds cartridge which you need an sd card, and then u can get tons of real DS games for free. am I wrong?

Thats the gist of it. Except the cart accepts Micro SD, not regular sized SD cards.

Mine never did. Make sure you don't force the M-SD card unside down into it. That would break it I'd imagine. Yes, you can play online and locally with other people using this.

No modification required to the DS's internal firmware, just plug and play. All fireware updates are done to the card itself, not the DS

The R4 and the M3 used to work the same, but now that the R4 has been discontinued, anyone who's in the market should get an M3. There will probably be no more official firmware updates from the R4 company. I have an R4 and it also freezes occasionally, which is annoying.

It uses MoonShell, its certainly not MP4, but it still looks pretty cool and converting the video files doesn't take took long.

The M3 Real is better because it is a Slot [1 & 2] device. Meaning that it can w/ the use of the M3 Real GBA expansion Pack play GBA roms. If that interests you then clearly purchase it, if not then get the M3 Simply. Both are updated regularly, so really its a question of GBA roms or not. And I'm sure the M3 Real is prices higher because of that added feature.

Can anyone help? i have just bought a DS lite and a M3 Real card. I have loaded the latest software on the card and the menu comes up and i can toggle through all the games i have loaded onto the memory card! All working well. MY QUESTION IS when you have finished playing any game you have to switch it off? or can you press a button and go back to the menu with the list of all the games? just switching it off will this corrupt the games? i know you can just switch a PS2 off is the DS the same??

I don't understand why people seem to be paying more for the Simply than the Real. The Real is a higher-end card. Plus, the M3 site's download section for the Simply gives a 404 error, and it looks like they haven't updated its firmware in almost a year. DO NOT buy the Simply.

You put them on the MicroSD card you buy separately. It accepts DS Roms, Mp3, jpeg, and  moonshells custom video formate which you use a converter you can download to make.

It's a device which lets to play DS Roms you download online [for free/illegally]. But really folks, if you don't buy the real games at all developers will have no money. I say use it to test out whats worth your time, and buy the real thing.
